Chapter 5 Mr Grumpy's Cook For a Month

Helena POV

I was puzzled and spellbound when I arrived at the jerk's house. It was a beautiful and well-designed mansion. The pillars and walls were made of marble, and garlands were elegantly tied to them. The compound was adorned with various types of flowers, as if it were a florist's shop. The garden area was tidy and immaculate. It looked like a president's house (though I wasn't sure it was, nevertheless, I've never read a magazine identifying him as the President's son), and it appeared magnificent.

He cut in with a smirk, "Impressed, aren't you?"

I rolled my eyes, not wanting to give him the satisfaction. "This doesn't change anything. I'm here for a month, and then I'm out."

He chuckled, "We'll see about that."

Entering the grand mansion, I couldn't help but feel a mixture of awe and resentment. The clash between the luxurious surroundings and the predicament I found myself in was surreal. Little did I know, the challenges awaiting me within those lavish walls would test not only my endurance but also my understanding of the complexities that defined the arrogant grumpy rabbit.

As we stepped further into the house, opulence surrounded me. The living room was a spectacle of extravagance, adorned with exquisite furniture and bathed in the soft glow of chandeliers that hung like crystalline jewels from the ceiling.

Lost in my thoughts, he abruptly snapped his fingers in front of my face, jolting me back to reality. "Daydreaming, huh?" he teased. "Snap out of it," he ordered, and I rolled my eyes. He walked past me, then suddenly turned around, fixing his gaze on me for a while before asking, "Your momma calls you what?"

"My name is Helena Boucher..."

"The name sucks but suits a deranged girl like you," he cursed, then turned around and kept walking. I clenched my fist, struggling to control the urge to punch him, and quickened my pace to keep up with him.

In the midst of the luxurious surroundings, I couldn't help but feel out of place. He continued his taunts. "Never in your wildest dreams did you think you'd end up in a house like this, let alone spend an entire month here."

I scoffed, "It's not worth staying for. I know you won't let me stay in peace."

He grinned, "Peace is overrated, Helena. Get used to the chaos." With a challenging gleam in his eyes, he led me through the ornate halls, leaving me with a sinking feeling that the next month in this house would indeed be far from tranquil.

He led me through the expansive corridors of the mansion, each room more luxurious than the last. As we entered what seemed like a personal library, he gestured around. "This is where you'll find me most of the time. Behave yourself."

I scoffed. "I don't need your guidance. Just show me where I'm supposed to stay."

He chuckled, "Impatient, aren't we? Follow me."

We ascended a grand staircase, and he stopped in front of an elegantly furnished room. "Here's your temporary room. Don't get too comfortable; it's just for a month."

I eyed the room, trying not to let his words affect me. "I'm not planning on making this my home."

"Good, because it's not," he retorted with a smirk. "Now, since you're under my roof, let's establish some ground rules."

I sighed, bracing myself for what was to come. "Fine. What are your rules?"

"Rule number one: you're here to cook, so no slacking off. Rule number two: Stay out of my personal space. Rule number three: Don't think you can wander around like you own the place."

I rolled my eyes. "Got it, Captain Obvious."

He grinned, "Good. Follow those, and maybe you'll survive the month without too much trouble."

He led me downstairs, and as we reached the grand living area, he settled on a huge couch with an air of royal majesty. A sly smile lingered on his face, and I couldn't help but think a well-placed jab could wipe it away. As if he read my thoughts, he casually remarked, "Your wish won't come through, you know."

Surprised, I raised an eyebrow. "What wish?"

He chuckled, "To knock me out with a punch. Not happening."

I scowled at his arrogance.

"Tina, Julie, Bella, and Claire!" he hollered, and immediately four uniformed women came to him, responding with a crisp, "Yes, Boss." I assumed they were the maidservants.

He pointed at me. "She will be the new cook..."

"Why employ a new cook, son?" an old woman interrupted, emerging from the shadows.

"Oh, Nanny Rita," he called as he stood up. "I was taken aback, realising she was the same woman from the mall."

Nanny Rita gave me a sympathetic look, and he explained further, "She's here to clear a debt. Now, get her acquainted with the kitchen. Make sure she knows her place."

"But will she be the new cook?" The old woman asked, confused.

He casually placed his arm around the old woman's shoulder. "I want to release you from the stress of supervising the house help and doing the cooking for the meantime. So this girl," he gestured towards me, "she will do the cooking." His tone was filled with disdain as he sneered at her.

I could see the joy in his eyes as he spoke, and I glared at him. As he locked eyes with me, I knew he could sense the intensified hate in my gaze, only fuelling my growing disdain for him.

"So, Nanny, get her to start working. And yes... please bring her a uniform."

"I don't need that!" I snapped.

"You would be working here, miss, so you have to put on a uniform, just like the other girls. Follow me, and I will get you measured," the old woman insisted.

"I am not an official worker here..." I began, but my words abruptly paused as he approached me.

"But... you still gotta pay your debt, and by doing so, follow the rules here. Got me?" he said, his voice low.

"Yes," I replied in a faint voice.

"I'm leaving now, Nanny, back to the company, so get my dinner prepared before I get back and..." he shifted his gaze to me, whispering, "Maybe I've got a surprise for you later." I ogled at him as I watched him disappear through the huge doors, leaving me with a sense of foreboding about what the future held in this ostentatious house.
