Chapter 5 David Smith

Emily Continues.

We heard a knock on the door as soon as she was about continuing her statement after pausing for a moment.

"My lady you've been asked to come down for dinner and that too now please. "

I ignored it and wanted Mercy to continue but the knock came again,

"My lady, the master insisted you came with me like right now. "

I annoyingly stood up and opened the door and found the maid standing there with her head down. I eyed her silently but I knew it wasn't her fault, she was only following orders. I looked back at Marcy and asked her to come with me, she agreed and went out. I asked her to continue but she signalled to me showing the other maid and shook her head silently. I didn't probe further and we got to the dinning room, instead of pecking my father as I always did, I went to sit without doing that.

He looked in my way and shook his head and smiled then said,

"It seems my princess is still angry with me. For you to forgive me, ask me anything and I will fulfill it. "He said still smiling.

"Really?" I asked excitedly.

"Yes I promise. "He promised.

"Okay before I ask you, I want to tell you that thank you very much and I love you. " I said praisingly.

"Okay now ask me what do you want?" he asked.

"Daddy please!!!! I want to attend our graduation congregation in two days from today. " I said smiling.

"When did you say you will be going?" he snouted.

"Two days from today. " I answered.

"Then I'm sorry to disappoint you but I have plans for you. " he apologized.

"No dad you can do whatever you want to do after that you can extend the time limit. " I pleaded.

"No it can't be extended of there is something else let me know. " he said eating his meal and avoiding my eyes. I knew he wouldn't agree no matter what but I still pushed my luck.

"No dad there's nothing else please Daddy. "I pleaded and knelt down.

"Get up, you will be leaving the country in two days and you mustn't go anywhere till then. " he insisted.

I got up angrily without having my meal. I got to my room and closed the door heavily and loudly. I heard my phone ringing and ignored it I thought it was one of the few people my father allowed their calls to my phone. And I wasn't ready to speak to any of them but the call kept coming. I irritatedly took it and wanted to hang up on it but saw it was an unknown number, so I hurriedly picked up.

"Hello who's this?" I asked confusedly.

"It's me Eddie."

"Eddie you are speaking to Emily Kelvin do you know that?" I asked surprised.

"I do but why not David but Kelvin? Did your father change his first name? Because I know him to be David not Kelvin. Your father is David Smith right?" he asked.

Me...

"Okay now you've got my attention, what do you know about me?" queried.

"I can't speak on phone, can I meet you tomorrow so we can discuss this matter?" he pleaded.

"Are you some fraudster or something? have you been sent to destroy the relationship between I and my father?" I asked a little alert.

"And why would I do that?I told you I knew you right? I know I'm not wrong. I know your family too, your father being David Smith and your mother being Sarah Smith. " he said insisting.

"How frustrating, you know my mother's name but my Father's first name isn't David but Kelvin. I think that's where you got it wrong. " I insisted.

"If you think so please let me see you tomorrow okay? Do you remember Fred the Caretaker?" he demanded.

A blurry image flashed through my mind like a lightening and disappeared. It was gone before I could hold on to anything, then it became obvious to me that something was missing and it might not be just my father's identify. I was in absolute confusion so I agreed and was saying,

"okay agreed, I will try to see you tomorrow if I can. Then...."

I was about to tell him,

"Then see you tomorrow possibly but the line hanged just at that moment. It didn't surprise me at all to see his number blocked on my phone afterwards. I couldn't unblock it no matter what and it would be our last conversation if I couldn't meet him the next day. So it was left with me to lure or deceive my father to go out.
