Chapter 3 2

Jason's POV

I walked down the hall immediately moving over to the desk of who I assumed to be his personal assistant, with the hopes of leaving this building with a partnership in mind.

"Excuse me," I called out politely and she turned rolling her eyes, allowing me to see her.

"Did I do something wrong?" I asked referring to her attitude.

"No sorry it's not you," she apologized quickly flashing me a friendly smile and I couldn't help but smile back.

"Are you here to see Ms. Webster?" She asked looking down her brown hair falling around her face and my hand yearned to remove it, wanting to see her.

"No I'm here to see Mr. Barnes," I said wondering if I came to the correct building, I desperately needed a new assistant his lack of understanding was irking me with every passing second, and I-

"Name please," she said silently letting me know I was in the right place, while also unknowingly saving a man's job.

"Jason Lights,"

"To the left, the door at the end of the hall," she replied and I smiled not really wanting to leave her presence, there was just something about her energy that had me feeling at ease.

"And your name?"

"Cassidy Daniels," she replied and I smiled

"It's nice to meet you, Miss Daniels," I announced before walking down the hall, following her instructions. I pushed the door open to see Alec sitting around the desk, his gaze meeting me as I closed the door.

"Still haven't mastered the art of knocking,"

"Not when you were supposed to get back to me several days ago," I defended sitting in the chair in front of his desk.

"May I remind you I have a partner, so I must run every decision through her," he explained looking as his door flew open.

"Alec get your own assistant," the female voice ordered firmly I turned to be greeted by a woman that had my eyes never wanting to leave her.

"Cassi doesn't mind," he defended.

"Well I do, I don't like sharing," she fired back and I smiled finding that we had something in common.

"This is my partner," Alec said and it as if she hadn't noticed me sitting here, which was odd since my eyes never left her.

"Jason Lights, nice to meet you," I said standing up holding out my hand and she shook it breaking her glare directed at Alec to flash me a smile.

"Starr Webster," she introduced her voice firm holding authority and confidence.

"I'm sorry for disturbing your meeting, my partner here just doesn't listen unless it comes with a threat," she apologized making me smile.

"It's no problem," I said as she released my hand her eyes finally meeting mine, her gaze powerful almost as if pulling me to her. She looked away destroying our small exchange clearing her throat.

"Leave Cassidy, get your own assistant," she concluded walking out of the room making me chuckle.

"That's not one you want to try," Alec said gaining my attention.

"What?"

"I'm referring to Starr, if you're not strong enough she is bound to break you," he said shaking his head amused.

"Why do you say that?" I asked intrigued sitting down pulling the buttons on my jacket.

"She has a, very strong personality," he finished and I smiled.

"I don't mind a strong-minded woman," I replied and he chuckled.

"Her level of Independence and dominance can emasculate a man," he mumbled and I frowned.

"Have you guys-"

"Only for a month it didn't work out and ever since then we've been nothing but friends," he cleared up quickly.

"Oh, so you couldn't handle her?" I asked amused.

"Remember you're trying to convince me to make a deal here," he said chuckling.

"I was, but I now realize I need to go to the head," I said and he chuckled.

"Good luck, she is on the opposite side of the hall, go to Cassidy first," he said amused and I smiled dismissing myself before walking out going to Cassidy's desk to find it empty, which sadden me slightly since apart of me wanted to see her again.

Starr's POV

"Did you meet that Jason guy?" She asked curiously sitting on my desk and I diverted my gaze from my screen to her.

"Yeah, why?" I asked, thinking back to the man.

"Nothing," she mumbled her brows pulling together to create a frown.

"Are you sure?" I asked and she looked away not meeting my gaze, letting me know something was up.

"Yeah," she assured smiling getting off my desk but I could sense something was clearly there.

"Cassi," I called out as I stood up leaning into her.

"I'm fine," she whispered moving in meeting my lips, igniting every inch of my body. I grabbed her ass and she smiled into the kiss slipping her tongue into my mouth confidently.

How could one person break me with just the touch of their lips, I doubt she even knew the power she held over me. A knock sounded on the door and she pulled away, I cursed under my breath earning a laugh from her as I released her watching as she walked over to the door pulling it open.

I licked my lips sitting down as she stepped aside closing the door as Mr. Lights walked in.

"Sorry to drop in unannounced but I went to the desk and no one was there," he said walking over to me confidently and I watched as Cassidy's eyes settled on him for a split second before she started doing what she originally came to do, making my thoughts from earlier return.

"It's okay," I replied and he nodded.

"I had a business proposal that I wanted to take up with you," he said as Cassidy moved over to the shelf behind me and both our eyes followed her.

Cassidy's POV

I felt both their gazes on me uneasiness mixing with my guilt. The very man that had been consuming my thoughts since our first encounter was sitting in the same room and in Starr's office of all places.

Where the hell was this file?

Both their gazes made me feel things I didn't want to, especially his I didn't want his gaze to have me feeling anything but it did and with the addition of Starr's gaze I couldn't even think straight.

I wondered if she knew about the attraction I felt towards the man since she kept pushing the question when I asked her about him as if she knew and just wanted the truth, I sighed frustrated with my thoughts, feelings, and self.

"Are you okay?" They both asked at once pausing their conversation and I cleared my throat.

Jason's POV

"Yeah," she answered not making eye contact with either of us, but I could feel Starr's gaze on me.

Shit.

I shouldn't have asked, I didn't even know why I did it just left me, her fumbling evoked what felt like worry, and with my mind busy on my emotions for her and Starr it just came out.

Wait her and Starr?

"Why don't you come back for whatever you're looking for later," Starr offered and she nodded leaving both our gazes to follow her as she left, the moment the door closed Starr and I's eyes locked, and she looked away quickly, her gaze going to screen as she began reading over the file Alec sent her.

What the hell was going on?

Was I attracted to them both?

I have been attracted to multiple women before but not to this extent.

Not like this

Shit

Starr's POV

I read over the first paragraph for what felt like the hundredth time, I couldn't concentrate with all the thoughts rushing through my mind along with his gaze piercing into me and the constant voice in my head, I wondered if Cassidy and him dated and maybe that's why she began acting weird.

I mean it was obvious now, especially with how uneasy she became with the both of us in the room.

"Why don't you come back tomorrow," I said suddenly and he cleared his throat.

"I'm busy tomorrow, but I have an open spot the day after, we could discuss it over dinner," he said confidently

"From what I grasped from this, your main interest is the club so I think it's better if we meet there, get this over with quickly," I said

"Okay no problem,"

"My assistant and I will be there," I responded.
