The Immortals Awaited Mate

Riley's Pov

Pow !!

The gunshot went off for the final lap, and I was already leading the track. The crowd went wild with excitement as they cheered. I was running with all my might.

I smiled to myself as I noticed that I was almost at the finish line. It's my 18th birthday today, and I finally have the chance to prove to my father that I'm more than just a mistake.

The adrenaline kicked in, but something felt wrong; my vision became blurry, I could feel my chest pounding faster, and all of a sudden, my body started to itch. A sudden sharp pain shot through my chest, and before I could react, the world went dark.

My consciousness crept back in, but the world felt too loud, as I heard murmurs around me. I opened my eyes and tried to get up, but something felt wrong and weird ___ my body felt heavy. I stood up, but the floor felt closer.

The crowd's gaze was different from before; it was mixed with fear and confusion. I turned around and saw my best friend, Gina. I tried to walk towards her, but she stepped back.

I looked down

Slowly, my hearing became clearer and sharper; I could hear the pounding heartbeats of my teammates, the whispers of people a mile away, and the screeching sounds of someone's shoes scraping against the ground.

'' what's happening to me?'' i asked mumbling to myself

''We are one now, pup.''

The voice came from deep in my head, unbothered.

''Who are you?'' I asked as I turned around.

'Your other half pup, get used to this, you're about to be big bad wolf '

A wolf? me" That's not possible'' I tried to ask,

''It's a fucking wolf, did we all see that, Riley just turned into a wolf .......he's ...an Animal!''

Someone in the crowd screamed, as everyone started to run. I tried to defend myself, but nothing came out. I was no longer in control.

I felt my body, I meant the wolf's body, as it started to run.

''Stop, you are scaring my friends......scaring me'' I begged.

''They are scared of you, idiot, and they don't give a shit about you.''

They do, they are......'' before I could finish, a gunshot drowned out my voice.

''What's happening?'' I asked, confused as some people ran towards us.

''Those freaks want to control us; we must not let them get us,'' he said as he hastened his pace

''I don't like this, let me out, give me my body back'' I exclaimed, trying to get in control

You little shit! When I get you'' he replied, trying to take control, but I took over, I don't know how I did, but I did.

There was no time to celebrate my victory as I felt a sharp pain in my neck, losing control, and losing consciousness again.

I woke up in a moving van. A strange man with an unreadable expression handed me some clothes. I looked at myself, confused, and realised that I was naked.

''Who are you?'' I tried to ask, but my voice sounded hoarse.

''The pretty boy is awake, I see, don't worry, you are in safe hands,' the man said with a smile. I looked at him as I took the clothes from him.

Before I could ask any more questions, the car stopped abruptly.

''We are here'' the man said and opened the back of the van and got down

Revealing a gothic building that looks like it belongs in another century. Iron gates, stone horses, weird trees at every corner.

''Welcome to Bloodline Academy. Your new life starts now''

''What?''

''It's just like your human school with a little bit of unique individuals, ''he said,

'I'm not enrolled anywhere........''

''Oh, I already did that.''

''How did you.....?''

''I'm the founder of this school, and I was already aware of your existence.''

''What do you.........? I tried to ask, but he cut me off.

''Here is everything that you might need'' , he added and gave me a school bag

I checked it and realized that I actually have everything that I might need as he guided me to the school.

''Go in and follow the schedule in your hand. My office is in that building.''

He said and pushed me to keep walking.

'' It's my first time here in years, and I'm already being forced to go to a fucking school, I just wanted to teach those fools that bullied you when you were small a damn lesson, but here we are

'' I'm not happy about this either'' I complained

''Oh, he finally agrees on something with me, cute'' he mocked

''I need to leave, I need to find an exit out of here I whispered to myself as I searched through the hallway for anywhere that says EXIT.

''Ohh, first day in school and we are already having a scandal in our hands, who could have thought?'' Wolf mocked

''Shut up'' I muttered, and kept walking. The hallway felt empty and out of place. A huge red door made it even weirder as it stood at the rear end of the hallway.

I figured that it could be the way out, so I immediately approached it and tried to open it, but it wouldn't budge. After a few minutes of struggle, the lock finally clicked as I pushed it open and went through.

It looked like a huge garden with different species of flowers and trees, and butterflies were fluttering around. I was busy admiring how beautiful it was, but the wolf interrupted my thoughts as he spoke.

''Get your shit together, this is not the fucking plan!'' he yelled. I rolled my eyes as I realised that he was right and searched for an exit. I noticed that the fence was not that high and figured that I could climb it.

I quickly ran towards it and took a bucket I saw behind the door for support. Turning it upside down, I climbed it and peered over the fence. Behind it, I noticed that it leads to another pathway and a deserted street. I held my bearings to climb over, but what stopped me was a voice.

'What the hell are you doing?' it questioned

Riley pov,

I froze as I felt the air change, turning around, a huge black dragon flew above me.

My breath hitched as I watched it descend before me, transforming into a tall man, his eyes glowed red for a second as his black locks flowed down his back.

''The fuck?''

I muttered to myself. The man tried to walk towards me, but something snapped inside me-survival instincts, perhaps- as I bolted towards the door.

The man did not chase me as his eyes followed my movement. I returned to the hallway and attempted to follow the schedule Anthony had given me, but I bumped into someone again.

I stood in shock as a tall, pale man came into view.

''Checking out my fangs, baby? It's real. Wanna touch?'' he asked as he flashed them and moved closer. I shook my head and turned to leave, but I was cornered by another person, this one was huge, muscular, and also tall.

''Where are you coming from?'' he asked as he walked towards me. I backed up till I hit the fangs guy.

'' More like where are you going to?'' the dragon guy added

''Wait.....I....I....can explain....'' I tried to say

'For fuck sake, what are you scared of? These guys? Let me out so I can put them in their place, and you find a way to get us out of here'' the wolf complained.

The fanged guy leaned into my neck, inhaling deeply, " You... smell so good ''

''Please ---- let me go'' my knees shook

No way, three of them? This is too soon. Let's get out of here'' the wolf warned.

'' Control yourselves, you are scaring him.''

The owner of the voice turned out to be the dragon guy. I could feel his aura as he stared at me; it was calm with a hint of danger. He walked closer but stood at arm's length as he said.

''I'm Darius, as you had already seen a dragon, that's Cassian, he's a vampire - the fangs guy, and that's Kieran, a Lycan'' he introduced.

''We won't harm you, just tell us your name'' he added

You won't harm us, you say? Yet your faces were up in our throats'' the wolf snickered.

''Why were you running?'' His voice was gentle, but his eyes were telling me to pick my answers carefully.

Glancing at him as my eyes moved back and forth from three of them, I gulped as I thought of the answers to give him.

''I got lost'', I gulped

''That's a dumb lie,'' the wolf argued

''Shut it!'' I warned him in my head

I froze as I noticed that the three of them had now moved closer.

''You were trying to run?'' Kieran questioned sternly

''Well, good thing Darius found you first'' Cassian smiled

''I wasn't.''

''What are you trying to hide?'' Darius asked.

I tried to say, but I was not able to complete my sentences as I felt myself completely lost in their eyes.

'It's him,' Wolf said.

'' what?'' i asked

''Doesn't matter, you are here, and you are not leaving'' Cassian interrupted

He flashed his fangs and tried to move closer to me, but Darius held him back.

''Cassian, don't do anything stupid,'' he warned

''He is our mate, nothing is stupid with how attached we feel right now Kieran added as he turned to look at them

'' what's that?'' i asked confused

''Don't look at me like I'm stupid, we damn well know what this means.''

''I ...... I...... don't. I was living my normal life until this afternoon, when I suddenly became what I am not, and now I have a supposed wolf. You got in my way while I'm trying to escape this pied place. What do you mean by I am your mate?'' I rambled.

''Fuck''' cassian said

''So you don't know anything at all? Darius asked, and I nodded.

''No problem, I just have to teach you.'' Cassian smiled,

walked forward and tucked a strand of my long curly hair behind my ear as he leaned forward

before adding,

''I will teach you everything you need to know.''

He said, and was about to kiss me on my lips, but flinched when I heard my name.

''Riley!'' an awfully familiar voice called out my name.

It was Anthony,

''What are you doing here? You were supposed to follow your schedule.''

He asked, pulling me away from them.

I felt relieved at his arrival.

The three men's eyes traced Anthony's hand on my arm, something dark flickering through them.

''Yeah, I was lost, I think I know the way now, though, no need to worry about anything.''

I said.

''I am not worried about anything, this is Felix, your roommate, get acquainted,'' he said as he

I turned to the guy I hadn't noticed and nudged him toward me.

Acknowledging the three men behind me as he asked.

'' Don't the three of you have places to be?''

He complained as he tried to chase them away.

Cassian smiled, while Darius and Tobias just took a last glance at Felix and me.

''Hiiiii, I'm Felix! Nice to meet you!'' said the new guy

Taking a glance at him, I took in his twinkling blue eyes and fair skin. I noticed that I was slightly taller than him as he bounced to and fro on his feet. I could feel his genuine excitement to see me, which amused me, and his gentle smile seemed contagious, so I could not help but smile back.

'' Yeah, he mentioned, nice to meet you too I replied

''I should show you around, but we have a lot to do right now,'' he said as he linked our hands, pulling me along

''What's going on?'' I asked as we headed towards the elevator, I hadn't noticed before

We have an orientation in two weeks, so the teachers are rushing the students with the lessons and preparation. You are new here, right?''

I nodded.

He smiled and took a glance back before adding.

''So what are you supposed to be?''

''Uhm..''

'' I see you've met THEM,'' he stated, his voice turning into a whisper

''What?''

''You know, the immortals'' he tilted his head confused

'' The immortals?''

'' I'm guessing that you haven't heard about them?''

''No''

''Well, you should stay away from them, unless you are one of those crazy about them'' He said, rolling his eyes

They might be rulers of their kingdoms, but I wouldn't get involved with them; they are cursed,'' he whispered.

What!?''

''I heard a powerful witch cursed them. She wanted them for their status, ensuring they have no mates or descendants, are immortal, and worst, if the moon goddess ends up giving them a mate, they are only destined to have one.

''That means?......''

''They are bound to share a mate. If they find their mate and they mate with them, their curse will either be broken, or the mate will destroy the world''

Riley's pov

Two weeks.

I'd managed to avoid them, keeping my head low in the hallways, taking the longest route to class, sprinting past the training field where I had caught glimpses of Darius mid-flight or Cassian's voice at the combat arena.

''You can't avoid them forever, pup,'' Rica whined

''Watch me''

Even though I'm thinking that way, I still felt a sudden ache and pull at the thought of them.

''Well, I hope I turned out to be an alpha or better still a beta.''

'' What happened to omegas? We could be that''

''We can't be that, anything but that'' I whined as I sat down on my bed in the dorm.

The few classes I have attended taught me about alpha, beta, omegas and their ability, strengths, and weaknesses. While alpha and beta sounds preferable, being an omega sounds stressful and painful too. Felix also gave me a depth about them.

I gagged at the thought of being an omega. I would rather be a beta that doesn't feel much than be an omega who feels everything, and an alpha is just superior.

''It's finally time!'' Felix exclaimed as he entered our room with a smile on his face, which paused restlessness as his familiar warmth and contagious energy followed him around.

''Time? Time for what?'' I asked as I took a seat at the nearest desk, forcing out a smile, trying to hide my nervousness.

''Hide it well, partner, it's slipping out'' commented

'Ugh! Orientation! A voice that sounded exhausted exclaimed behind him. Oscar, Felix's boyfriend, strolled in and hugged him from bed, resting his tired head on Felix's shoulder.

''Hey Oscar, tough day?'' I called out, chuckling at his childishness. He replied with a thumbs up and pulled Felix closer to him.

'' He had a spear fight with Cassian; they went at it for four hours, '' Felix explained as he ruffled Oscar's hair

''He was so relentless, I thought I would die'' Oscar added

Wait, a spear fight with Cassian? Are they taking the same classes together?

'' Cassian? Is he in your.......class?'' I wondered out loud

''Oh, you didn't know? He is one of the teachers who choose practical classes, and so are Darius and Tobias. You will also be seeing them a lot after this''

My heart skipped a beat as Felix explained. Teachers? They teach? I can't avoid them like I have been doing; I have to get out today!

''After what?'' I asked, trying to calm my racing hearts.

'' Orientation dummy, you get your actual classes after that, don't worry, it will be fun.'', Oscar added.

''Let me go, we should get ready for orientation'' Felix whined as he turned to face Oscar, who tried to kiss him in return.

'' eww, you stink, get off me,'' he complained, trying to push him off.

''Excuse me'' I said as I forced a smile and entered the bathroom.

''What should we do?'' I asked as I signaled to Rica

' I have thought about it''

'What?''

'' Who is waiting for us out there? Your friends, family........are they searching? Do they give a fuck about you?'' he added

''What are you saying now? Of course they are searching, I think... they car,e and they want me back!'' I retorted.

'' You sure? Although Iwantt us out of here, I can't deny the pull towards those fucking immortals, and I have a feeling that it would do us more harm than good if we try to leave'' he added.

I froze as I stared back at myself in the mirror, confused and shocked by what I had just heard.

This fool has been bugging me about leaving, and now he is telling me to think before I leave. Is he nuts, or is this place getting to him?

'' Your thoughts are quite loud, dummy! And it's not my fault that I can feel the damn pull! It's infuriating! Fine, let's leave today, and we must not miss any chance this time'' he ground.

''Good, we are going to leave today'' I replied.

Felix, Oscar, and I are now working side by side as we have arrived at the field that was being used for the orientation. Turns out there are a lot of students around, which means no one will notice me when I'm leaving.

''You are planning something'', Rica commented

''Of course I am planning' I scoffed.

''' Did you say something?'' Felix glanced at me.

'' I was talking to my wolf.''

'' You are finally getting along, eh?'' he grinned

''We are getting there.''

'' What's going on?'' I asked

Students are currently being grouped by faculty. The Crescent Faculty, where "immortal" teachers teach, is for werewolves and some other creatures like witches and fae who were pre-selected by the department.

As a werewolf, you'll automatically be placed there. "It's real fun," explained Oscar, a fae in that department.

'No, I think it's really bloody if you ask me about a witch that is in another department, ' Felix argued.

I don't think we will get out of this anytime soon. Do you even have a plan on how to escape?'' Erica added in my head.

''Don't worry, I'm working on it,'' I replied.

'' Sure'' he scoffed and went quiet.

The event went as they said, the teachers and Anthony, the principal, were busy calling people into their assigned department as planned. In the corner of my eye, I could get a glimpse of one of the immortals staring at me.

I could feel the goosebumps as I tried to shake the feeling that something might go wrong, and finally, my name was called.

''Riley Lightwood of CRESENT!'' A round of applause followed as Oscar and Felix looked at me, their eyes urging me to get up and go to the stage.

The moment I stood up, I felt a heat wave rushing through my body,

'' What's going on?'' I whispered to myself.

'' Fuck!'' Rica groaned.

''What is it?'' I asked as I tried to stabilize my balance.

I think I now know what we might be in the species of werewolves mate'' he replied.

'' What? Does this mean we are omegas?'' I caught up.

'' Bingo! We are having our very first heat, partner.'' My heart hammered in my chest as Rica pointed that out.

It's fine, I can do it.

I said to myself as I held my balance.

'' Are you ok?'' Felix asked with concern in his voice.

I nodded and stood up straight as I walked up to the podium. I could hear whispers around other students talking and staring, probably werewolves and me, because they can tell if an omega is in heat.

Wobbling, I struggled to get to the stage, but the heat suddenly hit me hard as I lost consciousness.
