Chapter 3 Timber

Grace and James left to go shopping for Christmas as she order Ethan to take me to go get a Christmas tree. Ethan protested with no success. "Fine, she can come but she better behave."

I sat in the back as Ethan drove and Denis sat in front of me. Denis looked back at me as he asked, "So, you don't remember your life before you met Grace and James." I looked up into the rear-view mirror when Ethan's eyes darted back to the road. Was he just watching me?

I shook my head as I looked out the window as it started to snow, "No. I woke up in the hospital and Grace told me that I was going to live with her." Ethan's eyes went back up to the mirror, "You don't know if you was running from something." I shook my head again as I took a deep breath, "James told me that a man stopped by the hospital asking them to take care of me and told them my name."

Ethan slammed on the breaks as he spun around, "What man?" My eyes widened as I whispered, "I don't know. He didn't give a name." Denis looked up at Ethan, "Dude. Calm down and drive." Ethan growled, "If he asking to keep her safe then that could mean that my parents are in danger, Denis."

Ethan pulled back on to the road as he snarled, "It might be better if she isn't at the house if someone is looking for her."

My eyes darted to his in the mirror, "You want me to leave?" He growled as he tilted his head, "I can't have you leave. My parents would kill me."

He slammed his hand against the steering wheel as I jumped in fear. Denis snarled at Ethan, "Dude, you are scaring Eliza." He narrowed his eyes at me as he pulled into a tree lot, "Whatever."

He got out of the car as Denis looked at me as he sighed, "Give him time, Eliza. He will come around. Let's just say he has a hard time trusting people." I nodded as Denis opened his door. I sat as I closed my eyes when the cold air hit my face.

"You coming?" Ethan growled. I nodded as my eye popped opened then I got out of the car. We walked around looking at the trees. I was lost in my thoughts.

What if Ethan is right? What if me being with the Wright, I am placing them in danger? They don't know who I am. I don't know who I am. I could or someone else could hurt them. My god. What am I going to do? I slammed into someone when I stepped back, "I am so sorry." A man turned towards me. He tilted his head as I took a step back as I started to tremble.

He took a step closer to me as he whispered, "Isabella?" I shook my head as Ethan came up to me when he noticed that I was trembling. He placed his arm around my shoulders pulling me close to him as he snarled, "What did you do to her?"

The man shook his head, "Sorry, I didn't do anything to her. Isabella. Is that really you. My god you have grown." I shook my head as Ethan looked down at me, "I am not Isabella."

Denis came up from behind as he clapped his hand, "Fuck, Uncle Joseph. How the fuck are you?" The man looked up as he smirked, "Denis. How are you man?" They shook hands as Ethan kept me close to him when Denis looked at me, "Joseph, this is Eliza and my best friend Ethan." Joseph nodded as he shook Ethan's hand, "Sorry about that man. The way she was shaking, I thought you might of..." He shook his head, "No, it is okay."

"Joseph come on let's go." A woman's voice came up from behind him as she stopped in her tracks. She stared at me as she tilted her head. She walked up to Joseph, "My god. She looks just like Justine." Joseph placed his arm around her shoulders, "Jessica, I want you to meet Ethan and Eliza." She smiled at Denis as she pulled him into a hug, "How are you dear?" He chuckled, "I am good Auntie."

Ethan pulled me by his side as we walked away when I heard Jessica whispered to Joseph, "Do you think that is really Isabella?" I closed my eyes as I teared up when Ethan stopped walking when he looked down to me, "What is Eliza? Are you remembering something?" I shook my head as I took a deep breath. He looked up as he sighed, "I think we found our tree." I looked behind me to see a huge pine that stood at least twelve feet tall.

When we got back to the house, Grace and James hasn't returned from their shopping trip yet. I sat in the living room after the tree was set up by Ethan and Denis. That was a sight to watch.

"Come on, man. Put your back into it." Ethan growled.

"You had to go pick the biggest tree in the damn lot." Denis growled back. "Timber." Denis stated as the tree fall as Ethan was trying to tightened the screws into the tree.

"If you scream Timber one more time. I am going to kick your ass, Denis." Ethan screamed to him from under the tree.

"Finally. I am taking a shower."

"Timber."

"FUCK, Catch it."

Two hours later, "You think we finally got it standing up right." Denis said wiping the sweat from his forehead. Ethan snorted, "If it not then I am burning this bitch."

I laughed hard the whole time as they both looked at me as Ethan snarled at me a hundred times, "Just wait, love. You are going to regret laughing at me."

When did he start calling me love?

I sipped on some hot chocolate looking into the fireplace as I could feel the heat. My eyes widened as I could see a house on fire when I placed my mug down on the end table. A tear fell down my face as throat cleared that made me jump. I looked over as Ethan stood there just in sweatpants when he walked over, "Do you always cry?"

I narrowed my eyes at him as my eyes darted around him as he stood with sweatpants and no shirt on. My god he works out. Board shoulders with a six pack.

I closed my eyes not to look at him and get rid of this different heat that I am feeling. He sat next to me; fuck go somewhere else.

"Love, what is wrong?" He asked as his hand went to my knee. I twitched from his touch when he slowly pulled his hand from my leg, "I don't know. I just keep seeing a man in my dreams then forget it." I opened my eyes as Ethan tilted his head, "Do you think you know the man?" I shook my head, "I don't see his face, just his eyes."

He leaned back on the couch when he growled, "What the fuck happened to you, love?" I shook my head then bowed it down, "I wish I knew." His arm went around my shoulders, "Don't cry. I can't take it." I nodded as I looked up at him as his lips was inches from mine. He closed his eyes when he leaned closer to mine.

We jumped when he was seconds from touching his lips against mine. He pulled away when his parents walked into the living room. Grace squealed, "See, James. I knew they could get the best tree in the lot." James chuckled, "You kids did good."

Ethan gave me a small smirked when he lifted up from the couch, "Thanks dad." James gave me a wink as Ethan walked out of the room when Grace groaned, "I ruined a moment didn't I." I blushed as I lifted from the couch, "No, you didn't, Grace."

She shook her head as she turned to me, "One of these days I will get you to call me mom."

I froze into place. What does she mean by that? She never asked me to call her mom before.
