Chapter 4 Drugged

Luna didn't look at the card the man had given her. When she heard his name, she couldn't help but burst into laughter.

His name was Royal, and yet he was trying to hit on Luna behind his girlfriend's back. How ironic!

Luna clamped her hand over her mouth to stifle her giggles and tried to assume an innocent expression.

Only then did she get a proper look at the woman who had just spoken.

Wasn't she the woman who was talking to Silas just now?

Sure enough, when she shifted her gaze, she found Silas standing next to the woman.

The woman snorted at Royal.

"Alena, let me explain..."

Royal pleaded, following the woman as she left the hall.

With the corners of her lips curling upwards, Luna turned to Silas gratefully.

"Thank you."

"You're welcome, kitten." Silas winked, his voice low and pleasant.

Hearing what the man called her, Luna's gratefulness instantly turned into annoyance. She turned around in a huff and sank into the sofa.

'I'd better stay away from these rich scumbags, ' she told herself.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the room, Nina had been observing Luna the whole time.

'What a bitch! She is always seducing men!' Nina thought to herself, grinding her teeth in anger.

She turned the ring on her finger and sat down on a nearby sofa.

Cautiously taking a look around, she found no one was looking at her, so she gingerly reached for a glass of wine.

She subtly pressed on a bulge on the ring and the gem stud popped open. As inconspicuously as possible, she tilted her hand and spilled the contents of the ring into the wine glass.

White powder dissolved in the red wine instantaneously. Nina shook the wine in the glass and her eyes sparkled mischievously.

Then, she stood up and placed the glass on the empty tray of a waiter passing by.

She leaned towards him and whispered something into the waiter's ear. Then, she pulled out a wad of cash from her purse and slipped it into the waiter's hand.

This whole time, Silas, who was standing nearby, happened to witness all of this.

He watched quietly, more curious than amused.

It seemed his kitten was going to be in trouble again.

The waiter walked over to Luna, carefully carrying the tray with the wine glass.

"Miss, some red wine, courtesy of Mr. Silas."

Luna, who had been lost in a daze, snapped back to her senses when she heard the waiter's voice.

However, she frowned slightly at the sight of the glass of wine being offered to her.

Silas?

If it were any other time, she wouldn't accept the glass of wine. But she owed him one now, and she didn't want to be rude.

She hesitantly took the glass and looked around. Then, her eyes met Silas'.

Silas had been watching vigilantly this whole time. When the two locked eyes, he realized Nina's motives.

Although what Nina did was questionable, it produced results and he was satisfied with results.

He decided that he would deal with Nina in the future.

As these thoughts crossed his mind, Silas nodded to Luna and raised his glass.

Silas' gesture removed Luna's doubts about the glass of wine. She brought it to her lips and downed the wine.

Nina, who had also been watching Luna's actions carefully, smiled triumphantly.

She then strode over to where Luna was sitting and joined her, running her fingers through her long wavy hair.

Watching the way Nina touched her own hair, Luna felt hot and bothered. She stood up and went to look for the balcony to get some fresh air.

Luna was a light drinker, after all. One glass of wine was all it took to make her feel tipsy. Yet, something didn't feel right.

The wind blowing on the balcony was strong and chilly for a summer night.

However, her body felt inexplicably hot and her heart was racing. To her horror, she even felt tingly down there.

Her breath quickened when she heard footsteps behind her.

Luna braced herself, afraid she would do something crazy.

She turned around in a hurry, aiming to seek solace in the lounge.

In her haste, she lost her footing and plunged forward.

Fortunately, the newcomer managed to catch her in time.

Luna sank into his arms and pressed her face into his broad chest. A mysterious fragrance wafted to her nose.

It smelled like fresh sea salt mingling with an earthy fragrance.

The complexity of the fragrance made Luna want to sniff the man thoroughly until she figured out the exact scent. For a moment, she completely forgot she was in his arms.

Luna burying her face in his chest made Silas' heart skip a beat.

'She is indeed like a kitten!'

He put his forefinger on Luna's forehead and shoved her away from his chest.

Just as Luna was about to crack the code, she was pushed backwards.

She raised her head in a daze and was about to complain when she realized who was standing in front of her.

She gulped nervously.

A cold gust of wind blew against her and she rubbed her arm, embarrassed. "Oh, well, thanks for catching me...er..."

As soon as she opened her mouth, she was shocked by the sound of her own voice. It was strangely hoarse and nasal.

Her eyes were wide with bafflement. The heat surging in her body was too much to bear.

She began to feel a little dizzy again. She couldn't help but want to lean into the man's arms, drawn in by his pheromones.

Luna was taken aback by her own thoughts. Suddenly, it dawned on her. 'Have I been drugged?'

The anger in Luna's heart flared, and her breath quickened.

Seething with rage, her mind raced. She didn't know what to do.

She had no choice but to trust the man standing before her now.

But this man was known to be a playboy.

'Can I trust him?'

In a daze, she suddenly recalled how the man's hands were always gloved. Her eyes flashed deviously.

'Is Silas a neat freak?'

Seeing the sly look in her eyes, Silas took a cautious step back subconsciously.

Seeing Silas' reaction, Luna was more convinced that she was right.

She wrapped her arms around his neck. Tiptoeing, she planted her lips on his.

As soon as their lips connected, Luna felt her body go numb and her legs go weak. She buckled and leaned against his body.

She could feel him trembling.

Before she could do anything more, Silas grabbed her by the arm and pushed her off him.

She staggered backwards until she found her footing. Looking into his eyes, she saw his strained expression, which made her smile in relief.

Silas turned around abruptly to take his leave, but Luna reached out to grab the hem of his shirt just in time.

"I know you don't like me," she started to whisper in her strangely hoarse voice. "But can you please take me to the lounge? Please?" She was practically moaning at this point.

Silas' body tensed up and his eyes were burning with desire.
