Chapter 8 Her Secret

Planting her hands firmly on Albert's ears, Joyce yelled, "Braydon, you bastard!"

"That term is more suitable for the likes of you, not me."

Joyce was so angry that she trembled all over. The girl standing next to Braydon stretched out her hand and tugged at his sleeve. She said in a soft voice, "Braydon, we're in public. Stop trying to embarrass this lady."

The moment Maranda spoke, his expression softened and he bent over slightly to hear her feeble voice.

His attitude towards her was obviously affectionate and doting.

Once upon a time, he used to treat Joyce this way, too. But she had no choice but to push him away, inadvertently into another woman's arms.

Braydon took the hand that tugged on his sleeve and smiled at Maranda reassuringly. "Don't worry, Maren. I'm not embarrassing her on purpose, I'm just stating the truth."

He said it so nonchalantly that it looked as though he had no clue how hurtful his words were. "A woman like her deserves only that kind of tone."

The intimacy between Braydon and other woman was the cruelest torture to Joyce. She couldn't watch any longer. "Baby, I just remembered that I have something to deal with in the company today. Do you want to play with Lewis?"

Lewis Xu was Joyce's assistant. He was quite fond of kids, and Albert liked him very much.

Albert, being a highly perceptive child, sensed that there was something wrong with the atmosphere. "Okay. We can come here next time," he said obediently. "Your work is most important."

Albert's attitude comforted Joyce a lot. She kissed him on the forehead and then turned apologetically to Henrik. "Sorry, I wasted your time today."

With a gentle smile, Henrik said softly, "Don't worry about it."

At last, Joyce shot one last glance at Braydon before picking up her son and leaving.

With her back turned to him, Braydon could see Albert's little face peeping from above her shoulder. He frowned, thinking the boy looked somewhat familiar.

He was about to shrug it off when Albert raised his head and waved goodbye to his friends.

A thought suddenly occurred to him and his eyes widened with realization. "Stop!" he shouted.

Joyce halted in her tracks.

Braydon let go of Maranda and strode towards Joyce with big steps. Without a word, he reached out to touch Albert.

Joyce's heart skipped a beat. Motherly instincts kicking in, she sidestepped quickly to avoid his hand from reaching her baby. "What are you doing?" she demanded, all senses on high alert.

With a dark expression, Braydon asked, "Is he my child, Joyce?"

"No." Joyce's eyes were bloodshot. She was a complete mess when meeting his icy gaze.

She subtly pinched herself hard with her fingertips, and the pain brought her back to her senses. "This is not your child. Even you said so yourself, I'm the type of woman to sleep around. We've only slept together a few times, how could we possibly have a child?"

Joyce's sardonic face pushed Braydon's buttons. He reached out, grabbed her by the chin, and hissed fiercely, "You're a bitch, Joyce."
