Chapter 10 Get Out Of Here

Edith wouldn't give up on Kyler without a fight. Today's blind date had been personally arranged by his grandma. Even though he didn't want to come, he had no choice. As long as she pretended not to care, there would be a lot of opportunities for her to turn the tables around.

"Good men are naturally sought-after. You're an outstanding man, Kyler. But you will only be able to know who is the most suitable one for you if you have the chance to compare the dozens of women who desire you." She then looked at Audrey. "Audrey, right? Since you're already here, let's all have a meal together," Edith said composedly to Audrey, as if she was the hostess.

Kyler was a little surprised by Edith's reaction. Since she didn't mind that he had brought another woman here, he motioned for Audrey to sit next to him. After that, he asked her gently, "What do you want to eat? I'll ask the waiter to bring it here."

From then on, he vividly played the role of the best boyfriend in the world. Anyone would be convinced by his act. During the rest of their dinner, he kept serving Audrey and the little boy, but he didn't even so much as glance at Edith.

He had thought that the proud Edith would leave in a huff, feeling insulted and humiliated. To his surprise, however, not only did she insist on staying as if nothing was out of the ordinary, but there was also no trace of displeasure on her face.

She was really something! Although Audrey ignored Edith, she gave a thumbs up to her in her heart. It was a good thing that she wasn't really Kyler's girlfriend. Otherwise, with an assertive opponent like Edith, she wouldn't be able to even eat or sleep peacefully.

"By the way, where are you working?" Edith suddenly asked, looking at Audrey.

"I don't have a job," Audrey answered honestly. Kyler put his arm around her shoulder and said, "Her main job is to take care of me and our son."

"I see." Edith smiled, but Audrey could see that it was forced, with a little jealousy and disdain hidden in it.

Feeling the anger clearly emanating off of Edith, Audrey wanted to get a breath of fresh air, so she stood up.

"Excuse me," she said before walking out of the room.

As she crossed the door, she took out her phone and clicked on a new WeChat message that she had just received.

After she read the content of the message, her face darkened. She quickly put away her phone and walked to the washroom.

After relieving herself, Audrey absent-mindedly walked over to the washbasin to wash her hands. She was still thinking about the message that she had received just now.

When she raised her head to look at the mirror, she suddenly realized that there was a woman standing next to her, staring at her with clear displeasure.

Although she almost jumped out of her bones in shock, she pretended to be calm. "Miss Qu, you are here too?"

Edith looked her up and down with disdain and sneered.

"Why did you show up next to Kyler today? I've looked into Kyler's background and found that he doesn't have a son at all. He just asked you to pretend to be his girlfriend in an attempt to fend me off, didn't he? It might have worked, too, if his taste wasn't so bad. Did he expect me to believe that a woman like you, who is inferior to me in every aspect, could be his girlfriend? Ha! How ridiculous. I advise you to take the money he promised and leave as soon as possible. Don't stay here and make a fool of yourself."

Until now, Audrey had just been playing along with Kyler. She had no intention of staking her claim on him. However, she hadn't expected that this woman would speak ill of her. Did Edith really think that she was a pushover?

"Miss Qu, you are a lady from a reputed family. It's true that I can't compete with you, especially when it comes to your noble background. But since I come from a low background, I have nothing to lose. Remember, if you insist on taking my man, I might go to any lengths to embarrass you. By the way, my son is the most popular live-streamer on the YUTO platform. He has tens of millions of fans. Do you want to say hello to them?"

As Audrey spoke, she took out her phone and opened her son's account before starting a live broadcast.

"Dear friends, I'm Harlan's mother. I'm live-streaming from his account. The woman standing next to me is..."

"Don't aim your camera at me!" Edith snapped immediately. She had never expected to get caught in such an unpredictable situation. She covered her face with one hand to avoid appearing on the live-stream, and tried to snatch the phone away from Audrey with the other hand.

Unfortunately for her, Audrey had quick reflexes. She stepped back and dodged Edith's grasp before saying with a smile, "Miss Qu, you are so beautiful. I'm sure you'll be popular with the audience. Why don't you say hello to them? Didn't you say that I'm inferior to you and that I should stay away from Kyler? Why don't we say hello to the audience together and let them judge who is the best for Kyler?"

"What do you want?" Edith snapped. Her face contorted in anger, making her look much less beautiful than before. 'Is this woman crazy? She's even trying to drag me into a live-stream. If news of this spreads on the internet, how can I continue to stay in the circle?' she wondered frantically.

"I'm sure you already know what I want. Kyler is my man. I don't want to see other women pestering him all the time. You'd better stay away from him from now on. Otherwise, you'll definitely be a guest on this live-stream," Audrey said provocatively, shaking the phone in her hand.

"How could Kyler fall in love with a shameless woman like you? How long do you think you can stay with him?" Edith shouted angrily.

"You don't have to worry about that. It's a private matter between me and Kyler. It's none of your business."

Audrey was not a person who would submit to others just because they were tough, so when she heard Edith's harsh words, she fought back with words that were even harsher.

"Don't be so full of yourself! I've seen a lot of women like you, who think they're so beautiful that they can climb their way into the elite circle. But when you're abandoned by Kyler and thrown onto the street like a stray dog, you will cry!" Edith cursed, shooting daggers at Audrey with her eyes.

"Even if Kyler abandons me in the future, I've at least had my chance with him. It's better than throwing myself at him and being rejected by him outright, like you. How pathetic!" Audrey didn't want to talk to this woman anymore. After saying all that she wanted to say, she walked to the door and glanced at her coldly. "Do you want to go back with me, or will you come by yourself later?"

Edith neither answered her question nor looked at her.

Audrey shrugged and pushed the door open. However, she had barely taken two steps forward when she heard footsteps behind her.

Edith quickly walked past Audrey and entered the VIP room first. She flashed an apologetic smile at Kyler and said, "I'm sorry. I have to leave now. Something came up. I'll contact you later."

"Bye," Kyler replied indifferently, glancing at Edith as she left. He was perplexed, to say the least. This woman had kept pestering him before, so why did she leave so decisively after coming back from the washroom?

While he was chewing on this question, Audrey came in and sat down expressionlessly. When she sensed Kyler's gaze on her, she felt a little nervous.

It was true that this man had asked her to pretend to be his girlfriend to shoo Edith away, but hadn't she gone too far by threatening Edith and driving her away without his permission?

"Is there something on my face?" she finally asked, looking up at him. She dug her fingernails into her palms in an attempt to stay calm.

Her movements didn't go unnoticed by Kyler, whose lips slightly curled up. It seemed that he hadn't misjudged the woman in front of him. She was really good at fighting. She had even forced Edith to run with her tail between her legs.

"What do you want?" he asked slowly. He had always been clear about the system of rewards and punishments. Since she had helped him, he would not be stingy with his reward to her.

For a moment, Audrey was stunned, but then realized what he meant. Just when she was about to say something, her phone rang. She looked at the screen and found that she was getting a call from Rylee.

No wonder she had kept feeling like she had forgotten something! It turned out that she had forgotten to contact Rylee.

She answered the phone in a hurry, and heard Rylee's anxious voice coming from the other end.

"Audrey, what should we do? I've searched every corner of the restaurant, but I still can't find Harlan. Should we call the police?"

"Don't worry, I found him," Audrey assured in a hurry. Glancing at Kyler, she stood up and walked aside to talk on the phone.

Kyler pretended not to notice her guard against him. Instead, he turned to the little boy, who seemed to have eaten to his heart's content. Picking up a clean napkin to help the boy wipe his hands, he asked, "Are you full? What else do you want to eat?"

The little boy leaned over obediently and let Kyler wipe his face before sitting back and patting his bulging belly.

"No, thanks, I'm full. Uncle Kyler, that woman has left. Don't forget what you promised me."
