"Not possible? Then why didn't he answer your phone calls? Why was he late for the wedding?"
The barrage of questions wavered Nicole.
"From the very beginning, he's been in love with me. He chose me as your bridesmaid because I can wear a wedding dress and walk down the aisle with him."
A meek smile appeared on Peggy's face as she lifted the hemline of her white dress, which was the same as Nicole's.
The sight of her dress took Nicole aback.
Her face turned pale, but the palm print on her right cheek was still swollen red.
Upon seeing that Nicole was lost in thought, Peggy felt victorious.
"Thomas suffered a car accident before the wedding. You're a jinx. I'm sure the Mo family hate you. Now, nobody will dare marry you!"
Those words made Nicole upset. Her chest slowly heaved, and after a few seconds, she grabbed the doorknob of the room and said, "I don't believe a word of what you said! I want to hear it from him personally when he wakes up."
Peggy's expression changed when she heard this.
"He's not going to wake up, and it's all because of you!"
"He will wake up!" Feeling a little lightheaded, Nicole touched her head. "The doctor said that he'll wake up in three days."
"The doctor said that it was just a possibility!" Peggy shouted.
With an indifferent expression, Nicole remarked, "Then let's count on that possibility."
As she stared at Nicole's back, Peggy felt a little scared.
'Will Thomas wake up?'
Even if the chance was less than one percent, she would never allow it to happen.
In fact, Peggy was the one who caused the car accident.
Twenty minutes before the wedding, she called Thomas and asked him to pick her up.
On the way, she suggested to Thomas that they should elope.
However, he refused her.
Peggy's heart ached. She had known Thomas since they were kids. And yet she was not as important as some woman he'd only known for a few months.
She had an altercation with Thomas. While they were quarreling, she desperately reached for the steering wheel.
"I won't allow you to go to the wedding! Thomas, you must love me, and only me!"
Right at that moment, a truck crashed into driver's seat of their car.
Boom!
Peggy came to her senses as she glared at the man in the ICU.
'He must not wake up.'
Slowly, she pushed the door open and entered.
In the villa of the Mo family
As soon as Nicole entered the living room, she heard a fierce voice.
"Nicole, how dare you come back?"
Nicole was stunned. "Mom..."
"I am not your mom. Shut your mouth! You disgust me! You haven't had a wedding with Thomas yet, and I don't want you to be my daughter-in-law. How dare you call me Mom?" The more Bridget spoke, the angrier she became. "Don't think that I don't know who instigated Thomas to steal our household register and get marriage licenses with you. The only thing you want is the Mo family's money. You want our money so that you can pay for you insane mother's sky-high hospitalization fee!"
She was so angry that her chest started heaving up and down. "Betty."
"Yes?"
"Call Director Du of the mental hospital right now and stop paying for that psychopath's expenses with the Mo family's money!
Bridget slammed the phone. "And someone kick this woman out now! Don't ever let her set foot in my house again!"
Before Nicole could have the chance to change her wet dress, two strong servants shoved her. She fell on her backside awkwardly, and her delicate face wrinkled in pain.
