She was a modern woman.
Three cars were parked and a bunch of guys and girls were leaning back to it, waiting patiently for the girl who has just stepped down.
"You guys!" her voice was sweet and pleasant like a melody.
Shawn smiled and walked to her for a hug.
"Where is fucking Morgan?" the first thing she asked before hugging him when he was paused, spreading his arms for a hug.
"Oh, he had a meeting with his dad..." answered Shawn, a bit hesitant.
Lara pursed her lips in a thin line and hugged tightly to her best friend.
"Welcome back..." the guy softly kissed her cheeks.
"Thank you, " she smiled back.
Holding his hand, she made her way to the car and the driver pulled over.
"Let's go to our favourite restaurant. I'm starving for my caesar salad..." she took a deep breath with leaning back on the seat.
"Without Morgan?" the guy asked and she clicked her tongue, "Duh! No, I'm gonna call him."
"Lara, he is busy with his father in the meeting. Why don't we..." he was interrupted by the phone call when he fetched the phone from the pocket of his leather jacket.
Watching the name of the incoming caller he raised a brow and about to attend the call when Lara grabbed the phone off his hand and answered it.
"Hello, Shawn. I'm home from the boring meeting..." she heard him speaking when she let out a scoff.
"Fucking Morgan..." she uttered.
"Lara?" the unaware voice came from the other side of the phone.
"Yeah, it is me..." she replied back.
"Why don't you come and meet at our favourite restaurant?" she asked twitching her lips.
Morgan and Shawn both know that she wasn't asking but telling him to come.
"Of course, princess... on my way, " that was the positive answer from Morgan Colton.
Declining the line, she had the appealing smirk on her face.
The environment of the five-star restaurant was calm and people were dining there.
"I would love to have the..." before Lara could finish her sentence, the waiter immediately spoke, "Caesar salad and the detox drink, correct?"
Lara made an impressing face and slightly nodded.
Just then the handsome hunk stepped in the restaurant, his deep voice made Lara and Shawn turn around at once.
"Hello, princess..." his voice was pleasant.
Lara stood up to meet her best friend.
"How are you?" she asked in excitement.
"Our friend is a businessman, now, " Shawn joked.
Morgan scoffed and answered, "Not really?"
"What am I missing here?" Lara asked unaware.
The rest of the talks were done during dinner. Lara had invited all of her friend circle.
"You guys, I want to make a toast..." she raised her glass of wine in her hand and spoke pleasantly.
"Lara Smith is officially a certified wedding planner!" as soon as she spoke, the loud cheers echoed around the restaurant.
"Yay!"
"Congratulations, girl!"
"We have a wedding planner in the house, baby."
"Now, we have to get married, asap!"
The compliments were endless and she was being honoured by her friends.
"So, now that you are holding a degree..."
"I know what you're going to say. And yes, I am planning to open my personal office."
Lara sipped her drink as she answered to Morgan.
"To be honest, I think it would be a waste of time, " Morgan shrugged his strong shoulders.
"I don't think so..." Shawn immediately spoke.
"Oh, you guys. Don't just worry...I'm going to arrange both of y'all wedding for free."
After their little celebration, Lara and her friend circle was called at Morgan's by his mother.
"Welcome back, my dear..." Emma walked to the girl for a hug.
"Thank you, aunty. I've missed you..."
All of them settled on the sofas and were presented with hot coffees and teas.
"So, now that all of us are here. I want to reveal a little secret."
Emma was holding the cup of coffee when she smiled, sitting next to her rich husband.
The Morgan's were super-rich...David Morgan gave his family the very best luxurious life he could.
And right now, they are the richest family of the high society. Then comes the Blacks...which is Shawn's family.
Both of Shawn and Morgan's fathers were best friends and business partners in the past.
Then it was the Smiths...Lara's family.
The three families were friends from decades, so it practically makes their kids be best friends, too.
Studying in the same school and college, and even the university, only Lara was alone because of her interest in wedding planning.
And now that she got her degree along with the certificate, she will open her wedding planner office.
Shawn was sitting relaxed until Emma spoke, "Our son, Shawn is in love with a girl..."
The moment she spoke this, all of them gawked at her.
And Shawn's mother has her eyes all popped out of her skull, she was blank.
Coughing badly she just looked at her son, who was staring at his best friend, Morgan.
Lara immediately turned her face to Shawn who was gawking at Morgan who was also unaware of what's going on.
The gentlemen were calmly sitting but the ladies got uneasy, especially Mary, Shawn's mother.
"Emma, what are you saying?" Mary cleared her throat as she recovered from the sudden cough.
Before Emma could answer her, Mary continued, "My son is single and whenever he gets a girlfriend, he will tell me first. How are you sure that my son has a girlfriend and not yours?"
"And don't we all remember that it was your son who was holding hands with the girl outside the club..."
Emma was getting pissed. She was annoyed.
"Mary, mind your tongue, there, love..."
David and James exchanged frightened looks, both of their wives were heated.
There was a fight about to begin...
"What am I missing, dude?" Lara asked Shawn who shrugged his shoulders.
Clearing his throat, David spoke, "Emma, darling. Relax..."
"Yeah, Mary. We can talk about this matter..."
Then both of the women were calm the next moment.
The only unaware person there was Lara.
"How do you get to know this, Emma?" David asked as he tried his best to make the situation a bit relaxed.
"The kids told me, " Emma's answer was neutral.
"If the kids are serious with each other, then we must take the matter forward, " James sipped the coffee, crossing his left leg onto another.
Mary's sharp glares were killing Shawn deep down when he blurted out, "I am not that serious with her..."
"You are not?" Mary asked blurting out.
Shawn slightly shook his head.
Morgan was trying to stay quiet but the deadly gazes coming from the direction of his best friend was everything.
Lara gestured both of them to come to the kitchen when they stood up to walk out and when Lara asked, "What is going on with you two?"
"What?" Morgan pretended to be unaware.
"Oh, don't pretend, please. You both know that you are hiding something from me..." Lara crossed both of her hands to her chest.
Morgan and Shawn chuckled then Shawn spoke, "It was his idea..."
"He lied to everyone. That girl is not my girlfriend..."
"Oh, I get it..." with that they went back again to everyone.
David turned his face to his son and said, "Son, there's the new deal and you are going to work on it."
"Prepare yourself, you are going to meet them on Monday..."
Morgan looked at his mother as if to ask for help and she twitched her lips.
"I'm not going to work with him, dad..." was his simple answer.
"It's a she...son..." the moment David said this, he was eagerly waiting for his son's reaction.
The eyes of Morgan lit up with excitement and he cleared his throat.
"If you are not going to work with her, then I'm afraid I have to look after this..."
"No! No... I mean, I can help you, dad."
Shawn and Lara chuckled in a low voice while Morgan continued, "If that's what you want. I will listen to you, dad."
David and Emma exchanged looks, both of them knew that their son was interested in being around the females.
He was a womanizer and that's was the only way to bring him to the business.
"So, when's the wedding, Shawn?" Lara asked in a mocking tone when Shawn just eyed her.
Mary became a little sad when Shawn walked up to her and said, "Oh, mother. I swear I won't be hiding anything from you...and I'm not getting married..."
Mary smiled kissing her son's hand and all of them get back to chatting together.
