Chapter 8 Well Prepared

Ignoring her question, John just caressed her face with his long, bony fingers. Wherever his fingertips touched, she felt a chill.

After a while, he squinted at her. "Did I sleep with you that night I got drunk five years ago?"

Five years ago, he couldn't believe the news about Kate's death, so he went to the bar and drowned himself in alcohol.

As for what happened that night, he had no recollection at all. He only knew that he had gotten unbelievably drunk. The second day, he woke up in a big bed stark naked.

When he heard what Tasha told Felix to ask him, his icy face, which had never changed, completely collapsed.

If he had actually slept with her five years ago...

Hearing his words, Tasha heaved a sigh of relief.

It seemed that the result of the investigation had shed light on the truth.

Looking John square in the eye, Tasha smiled sweetly. "Congratulations, Mr. Gong. You finally remembered it."

Although he had expected this response, John's expression still tensed up and blue veins popped out on his forehead.

"Damn it!"

John cursed under his breath, punching hard at the chair.

How could he have unconsciously betrayed Kate? He had loved that woman with every inch of his heart.

Glowering, he got off Tasha and sat back in his seat.

With his weight lifted off her, Tasha took a deep breath and drank that sweet air. Once she had recovered, she sat up straight. From the corner of her eye, she could see that the man who had usually kept so cold and calm was now livid. She couldn't help but snicker at him.

John had always been in control of everything. He had long stood at the top of the pyramid, dominant and confident. Now, his private life was out of his control and he was caught off guard.

For a while, a hush had fallen over the car.

It took a while before John composed himself. Coldly, he said, "I will arrange a paternity test right away. And—"

"There's no need." Tasha interrupted him nonchalantly. Smiling faintly, she added, "We already have the test results."

John frowned. Obviously, this woman was well prepared.

But where did she get his DNA sample for the paternity test?

As these thoughts raced around his mind, his frown deepened.

'I need to have a talk with Mike. Otherwise, he might get used to betraying me,'

John pondered, gritting his teeth.

Trying to regain control of the situation, he snorted. "I don't believe you."

"Whatever." Tasha shrugged.

If he wanted to do the test again, she wasn't going to stop him. Anyway, the result would be the same.

Thus, under Felix's watchful eyes, Tasha cut a few hairs from Edison's head and handed them over to Felix. Then, without any other reason to stay, he left abruptly with the hair sample.

Seeing that Felix didn't even acknowledge his presence, Edison threw a fit. "Mommy, daddy's sidekick always acts like some big shot."

"He learned from your father." Tasha pinched his cheek fondly.

"Daddy has too many bad habits. Alas!" Edison shook his head, as though he had given up hope on his helpless father.

Seeing that her son talked like an adult, Tasha burst into laughter.

Suddenly, Edison's big black eyes flashed excitedly. "Mommy, how about we give daddy a punishment before sending me to the Gong Family?"

"You'd better punish him even after you enter the Gong Family." Tasha didn't buy it, but she smiled cheerfully at the prospect.

The thought of her son causing John's collapse when he came to the Gong Family made Tasha suddenly feel the beauty of life once more.
