Chapter 4 Disastrous Blind Date

"Why did you call me? Didn't you find your Mr. Right at the blind date? What kind of douchebag did you meet this time? Tell me all about it." Jean sighed and shook her head.

"Don't even ask me about it. Someone harassed me at the party, and I poured the drink on him. But do you know what's worse than this? My aunt is forcing me to go on another blind date the day after tomorrow. God knows how many blind dates I will have to go. It is draining all my energy," Mandy grunted. She was on the verge of breaking down.

"The blind date you went on was one of the famous parties in the city. Almost all the rich and handsome men of the city were there. Didn't you find anyone who might be right for you? What's wrong with you, Mandy? Are you cursed or something?" Jean looked puzzled. She looked at Mandy's pretty face and back at herself. Although Mandy was not a ravishing diva, she was pretty enough to catch men's attention. Why wasn't anyone interested in her?

"All good men have been taken. The rest are jerks." Mandy propped her head on her palm and sighed. It wasn't her fault that she couldn't find the right guy.

"Stop being pessimistic, Mandy. There are so many handsome guys in the stall. Why don't you date one of them?" Jean suggested.

"I don't know if they are still single." Mandy's eyes sparkled with excitement. Why didn't this idea occur to her before? She could take a handsome man home and make her aunt believe that he was her boyfriend.

Jean had only joked to lighten her friend's mood, but Mandy felt that it was a great idea. The eagerness in Mandy's eyes frightened Jean. Just as she opened her mouth to advise her friend, a piercing scream from the adjacent table stopped her.

"Is this how you serve your customers? How could you pour the drink on my expensive outfit? I want to see your manager," the woman bellowed.

"I'm sorry. It is my fault. I will pay for the suit," The waiter pleaded.

Mandy craned her neck and saw that it was the same waiter who ushered her to the table. The man seemed calm and composed even though the woman looked like she would eat him alive.

"This is a limited edition Armani suit. You can't get this outfit even if you have the money. Anyway, don't waste my time. Call your manager." The woman was seething with rage.

"I'm sorry. Our manager is not here right now. He is on a business trip. Please tell me what I need to do. I will do anything to make up for my mistake." The waiter persuaded. He looked genuinely sorry. However, the woman wasn't ready to listen.

"What? That's impossible. I don't believe you." Everyone in the stall was now looking at them.

The sharp contrast in their attitude surprised the guests. It seemed as if the woman had made her mind to cause trouble.

"What's wrong with this woman? The boy has accidentally spilled the drink on her dress. Why is she making such a big deal?" one of the guests whispered.

"Yeah. The poor boy even apologized," another chimed in.

"She is out of her mind. I think she is doing all this to get everyone's attention."

"I think the woman has a thing for the manager. She is perhaps using this as an opportunity to seduce him."

"You are right! It makes sense now. I heard that the manager of this stall is a handsome man. It's a shame I haven't seen him before."

The noise grew louder as everyone began to ridicule the woman. Some of them even made nasty comments about her. However, the woman continued to reprimand the waiter, oblivious that everyone was mocking her.

Mandy watched everything with rapt attention. The commotion somehow made her feel better. It seemed to divert her mind from the problems that were consuming her.

The guests seemed to blow things out of proportion and seemed to pass comments about the woman's character as if they knew her well. The discussion seemed more interesting than the argument itself.

''What is going on?" A cold, magnetic voice caught everyone's attention.

Mandy's stomach flipped; the hair in the nape of her neck stood up.

It was him. The man she had knocked against the wall in the hotel earlier that day after the blind date.

"Wow, he's gorgeous! Is he the manager of the stall?" The women gasped unanimously. The room fell silent as everyone was staring at him with their mouths hanging in shock.

The man was tall and handsome. His piercing gaze studied the crowd as he walked past the women who were staring at him like vultures. Everyone seemed to have faded into insignificance as Mandy looked at him.

Her mind flitted to what happened at the hotel, and she instantly remembered the strong man in the bathroom. Mandy's face brightened. She knew that her aunt would be happy if she went home with him. It was a pity that he already had a boyfriend, but she could hide the piece of information from her aunt.

"I am glad you are here, Mr. Robert. I accidentally spilled the drink on this lady's dress," the waiter explained. But Robert raised his finger before he could finish.

"How do you want to solve this?" He asked the woman.

"Who are you? Where is your manager? Ask him to come out." The woman licked her lips and finally calmed down. Robert's cold demeanor frightened her; she knew that she couldn't mess with him.

"He is on a business trip. I am in charge of the stall now," Robert hissed through his teeth. He hated solving trivial disputes that seemed to waste his time.

"No. I want to talk to your manager." The woman wasn't ready to leave the place until she saw the manager. She had not been able to stop thinking about the man ever since she laid eyes on him for the first time.

Robert's frown deepened; he grew impatient. "Go to my office and bring the laptop," he instructed the waiter.

All the guests were curious to find who Robert was and how he was going to solve the problem. No one had seen him at the restaurant before. People usually pleaded with their customers to forgive them for their mistakes. However, Robert's approach was unique. No one could understand why he had asked the waiter to bring the laptop.

Was he going to write a letter of apology?

The turn of events surprised Mandy. She raked her eyes across the man's body; he was wearing a plain white shirt and blue jeans.

Although the waiters all looked handsome, Robert stood out from them. He exuded an effortless charm and confidence with his every move that seemed to draw everyone towards him.
