One night, Cornelia went back to her dormitory from the classroom at ten o'clock. When she walked to the billboard downstairs, she saw a thin figure tearing a piece of paper under the dim light. It was Rowena. What Rowena tore down were the contact information of those advertisement for part-time jobs.
Embarrassed, Rowena tore it and said to Cornelia, "You go to study."
Cornelia patted her schoolbag and said, "Have you just finished your study and come back?"
"Yes." Rowena said. After a while, she added, "I want to find a part-time job."
Cornelia said, "Aren't you going to your uncle's house to tutor your cousin this weekend? Do you have time?"
Rowena said nothing.
Rowena came from a poor family. She applied for a student loan after school, but the student loan only involved tuition fees. She had always been living a frugal life. Cornelia said, "Okay. Your uncle's house is quite far away. You always get carsickness. It will be easier to find a closer one."
A week later, Cornelia went to the Contemporary Shopping Mall opposite the school to buy skin care products. She saw that the jewelry counter was recruiting saleswomen. Thinking of Rowena, Cornelia asked them if they could recruit part-time jobs. The shop assistant picked up the phone to the shop manager. At first, Cornelia didn't have much hope, but the female shop manager on the other end of the phone said that she could consider it, but she had to take an interview first.
As expected, Rowena hadn't found a part-time job yet. In fact, it was not that she hadn't found it. She went to tutor on weekends, and it was rare for people to find tutors in history. However, the road was very far. After more than two hours of driving, Rowena went from the West Fourth Ring to the East Fifth Ring, and to a place which looked a little desolate. She thought she had found the wrong place, but she finally found it. Tutoring had been carried out for two hours, and it was already late at night when she returned to the university. Rowena was so dizzy that she didn't even have dinner.
When Rowena heard that it was a jewelry guide, she hesitated and said, "I don't know much about jewelry. I don't know anything about it. Is that okay?"
Cornelia said, "Let's have a try. It's so close anyway. I'll go with you. I know something. Besides, if you pass the interview, there should be a simple training."
Rowena said, "You don't lack money."
Cornelia smiled and said, "I can't experience life yet."
Rowena lowered her head and said nothing. She was a little sad. She had to work hard to make a living, while others only needed to experience life. Yes, she always knew that there was no fairness in the real world. But sometimes, she couldn't help feeling sad.
On the day before the interview, Cornelia had taught Rowena some basic jewelry knowledge. However, it was hard to explain the jewelry clearly without looking at the real thing. They even went to the jewelry counter of the Sheryl Group and summoned some enthusiastic service and undisguised contempt. Rowena felt a little embarrassed, but Cornelia didn't care about it at all. She thought it was fun.
In fact, Cornelia didn't know much. She thought maybe it would be useful to deal with her by force. On the second day, the two changed into formal clothes for the interview. The manager was a friendly woman. After the interview, she asked Cornelia and Rowena to go back and wait for the notice.
Cornelia thought that it was most likely impossible. Unexpectedly, on Friday, she received a call from the female shop manager, asking her to go there. Cornelia went to Contemporary Shopping Mall. The manager said that only one would be hired.
"Then let Rowena do it." Cornelia said.
The manager said. "We want you. Your classmate seems to be a little introverted and is not good at talking."
After thinking for a while, Cornelia didn't accept the job. She didn't mention it to Rowena after she went back to school. A few days later, Rowena said that there was a Starry Restaurant not far from the school and it found a part-time waiter. She was going to have a look.
With a tired look on her face, Rowena continued, "When I was in middle school, I thought college was a wonderful place. Many students would find a good part-time job, and even part-time jobs were very wonderful. It's not."
Rowena had made a lot of phone calls in the past two weeks, but most of them were agency. You had to pay the service fee first, and some of them were looking for family education. Hearing that she was in History Department, they refused politely.
Rowena knew that it was not easy to find a part-time job. Then she looked around and found that none of her classmates needed to take part-time jobs. They were all the children of officials, the children of their boss, and at the worst, their parents were also employees.
Cornelia was a little dejected, too. Moreover, because of the jewelry shopping guide, she felt sorry for Rowena, so she immediately said that she wanted to go with her. Rowena said, "No. The jewelry shopping guide sounds good. If you to bring tea and water in the restaurant, you're wronged."
"If you can do it, I can do it." Cornelia said.
As a result, they were all hired.
Somehow, Marshall heard about it.
Two weeks after they came from the Fragrant Hill, Marshall hadn't come to visit them, and Cornelia hadn't seen him for a period of time.
Only a few times had Cornelia heard of Marshall from Hilda, so she didn't pay much attention to it, because she really didn't want to talk too much to Hilda. There were rumors that Marshall might be with Hilda.
Therefore, when class was over that day, Cornelia was a little surprised when Marshall stood in front of her desk, while she was packing her books.
Usually, Cornelia didn't pack up her books until the teacher left. It was not pedantic, but because of the family education in her childhood. She thought it was polite to the teacher. So at that time, many students had left, and there were only a few people left in the classroom. Marshall pressed her hand which was about to close the notebook and sat down on the table next to her, looking down at her.
Just as Cornelia looked at him in surprise, the remaining students also left. They were Rowena, Bertha and Baron. Before leaving, Baron glared at Marshall.
Cornelia's heart jolted. The next second, there were only two people left in the small classroom, Marshall and her.
Marshall said, "Why do you want to do part-time job? Are you short of money?"
Marshall's posture was really a little strange. Instead, Cornelia smiled and said, "You are well-informed. I don't lack money. Why can't I experience life?"
Marshall frowned and said, "You don't have to go to the restaurant to serve the dishes even if you want to experience life."
Cornelia smiled and said, "Well, don't be so snobbish. Work is divided into different grades. I think it's interesting to serve the dishes."
