Chapter 3 It's Called A Gamble (Part One)

They had been taking pictures. Hilda entangled with Marshall. She was going to take photos in a while, making all kinds of postures, and kept asking "How about this?"

Then people followed them. Lettie asked, "Where is Cornelia?"

Marshall was taking photos for Hilda. He turned around and said, "She is in front of us."

Lettie said to Rowena, "Let's go after her."

It was not until the two walked some distance away from Marshall that Lettie pouted at Rowena. "What's that look on your face?" Rowena asked with a smile.

Lettie said, "I just don't like her."

Rowena replied, "Isn't he always like that?"

"It's just that it's not pleasing."

"You used to say that he was not bad, not as boring as our boys, and not as childish as some boys."

"I'm not talking about Marshall. I'm talking about that delicate lady."

The two of walked up for a while and saw that Cornelia was resting on a big stone. Behind her was a lush forest, and yellow and white wild flowers bloomed under her feet. The person who was taking photos next to her seemed not to exist to her. She was a touch of the mountain.

Lettie and Rowena saw her and also sat on the big stone to drink water. They were all a little tired. If they continued to go up to the Censer Peak, the route would be more steep. The person who came down from the top said, "We'll reach the top of the mountain after climbing this section."

Lettie asked Cornelia, "Can we go up now?"

Cornelia said, "We're almost at the top of the mountain. Why don't we go up?"

So the three climbed to the top of the mountain together. The blue sky and white clouds made the air fresh. The trees on the mountains and the wild flowers among the sand and stones were different from the ones at the foot of the mountain. Looking around from the top of the mountain, the scenery was also different.

Cornelia grew up in a plain. She was used to the rising sun and setting sun on the horizon. She wouldn't climb the mountain unless she went on a trip. The beauty of a mountain lied in the level of the scenery, in the shape of a peak on the side of the mountain, and in the illusion and sometimes reappearance. The sun was as beautiful as the sunset, but she was used to life and occasionally saw the scenery. This was often the case in people's hearts.

The three watched for a while, but they didn't see anyone came up. They didn't know if those people would climb to the top of the mountain and retreat halfway. So they prepared to go down the mountain first. Some unknown boys accosted them. They looked like students from the other university. Being in such a situation, Cornelia didn't want to say anything more, so she just said a few perfunctory words and pulled Lettie and Rowena down the mountain.

After walking for a long time, no one came up. Cornelia was confused. They shouldn't have been so slow. The mountain wasn't that high. Did they all retreat?

While she was wondering, she met Marshall and Hilda and others. Because they were several boys and Hilda, a girl. They looked like the moon under the stars, but very eye-catching. "Why did you come down so soon?" Marshall asked.

Lettie said, "We have reached the top of the mountain."

Hilda smiled, "You are so fast. We are still behind you."

Cornelia's bag was still on Marshall's shoulder. She went to take it, but Marshall refused. She said angrily, "I'm thirsty. I want water."

Marshall still smiled, "Just take out the water."

Feeling helpless, Cornelia took out a bottle of water and left. However, Marshall shouted from behind, "Wait for me. I have something to tell you."

Cornelia ignored him. However, he threw the camera in his hand to a boy. Then he turned around and chased after Cornelia while saying, "Hey, what's wrong with you? I really have something important to tell you." He had caught up with her and said, "Really, something very important."

Cornelia glared at him and asked, "What's up?"

However, he scratched his head and said, "Well, well..."

Lettie couldn't help laughing.

Without looking at her, Cornelia knew that not far behind her, Hilda must be looking at her angrily. If she went back, she would inevitably be teased by her. Marshall would try his best to make her unhappy. While thinking, after walking few steps, Cornelia saw an open space below, where her classmates were either standing or sitting. As soon as Cornelia approached, she heard several people compete with each other and say, "I bet fifty on it to buy regret." "I bet one hundred on regret." "I bet fifty on regret."

Marshall's friends in the Finance Department were also there.

Cornelia, Lettie and Rowena were all confused. No one had ever heard that someone wanted to buy regret medicine.

When they got closer, some people saw them and became quiet at once. But people who couldn't see them continued to bet. Milton Tang said, "I bet five hundred on regret." Several boys gave him thumbs up and said, "Great." Jake hurriedly said, "Wait a minute. No more than one hundred, no more than one hundred. Small gambling is good for you, big gambling is bad for your health, and money is no more than one hundred."

Zoe Su dais, "Yes, He is right. Don't show off your wealth."

Cornelia was completely confused. What were these people betting on?

Lettie run to them and said to Zoe Su, "What are you doing? It's so lively."

Zoe Su wanted to say something, but when she saw Cornelia again, she swallowed back what she wanted to say. After a long while, she managed to put on a flattering smile and said, "You have to ask Mr. Zheng about it. Ask him."

Everyone saw Cornelia, Lettie and Rowena, so the scene was quiet for a while. Many other people's eyes were fixed on Cornelia.

Feeling a little embarrassed, Cornelia turned around to look at Marshall. She didn't find him anywhere. She looked around and found that he had hidden behind a tree, still sticking his head out to look at her. Only then did she feel something was wrong, but she had a good psychological quality. She ran to Jake and said with a smile, "Mr. Zheng, are you in a gambling game?"

Jake also smiled, "Just for fun."

Cornelia said, "Oh? I'd like to hear more about it."

Jake said, "We'll go up the mountain. Have a rest here. I'll tell you alone later, okay?"

"No, you can go up the mountain after that." Cornelia didn't agree.

Seeing that he couldn't escape, Jake said, "I've told you, don't be angry."

Cornelia smiled and said, "I'm not angry."

"Well." Jake said, "It's that... Well. Cornelia, you're too powerful. How can you contradict Marshall?"

"Don't change the topic." Cornelia said.

"I... I didn't change the topic." Jake added, "Well, here is the thing. We are betting. We are betting. Ah, we are betting if you will regret if Marshall fall in love with someone else. Everyone is interested in this question, right?" Jake looked around for help, but no one cooperated with him. He had to continue, "Well, everyone is interested. Let's guess. Some people thought it was just a guess, so they set up a trap and let's have a bet."

Cornelia was indeed a little shocked. Jake had gambled in a football match, but of course, he didn't gamble much. At last, he lost a sum of money in the end. Although it wasn't much, his living standard had dropped from the small fire on the second floor to the big pot rice on the first floor for two whole months. Everyone knew his glorious deeds. However, it never occurred to Cornelia that he could set up the gambling game here.
