Chapter 7 Red Light, A Sports Car At An Intersection

Sharon was amused by her bubbly personality and she couldn't help reaching out her hand. "I'm Sharon Fang. Nice to meet you."

The woman shook her hand excitedly and smiled. "It's very nice to finally meet you. My name is Ellen Su."

And just like that, the two women, who had just seen each other twice before sat on that park bench and shared everything to each other. They talked about everything starting from their time as a student until now. They even discussed what they did for food and accommodation.

As such, before nightfall, the two of them had become very good friends.

It was only after Magee's call reminded her that it was time for dinner that she finally found track of time. However, the original gathering of two became a gathering of three people.

When Ellen Su saw Magee for the first time, she was very excited, as if she had seen a star. Immediately, she complimented him on being a very handsome man.

Sharon didn't know what to say when she noticed the look of surprise on Magee's face. However, that was when she knew that Ellen was going to make a good friend.

What was meant to be a simple dinner for two, became a livelier event because of Ellen's presence. The woman had the charm to keep everyone laughing without any effort.

Naturally, time passed happily and the dinner which would usually take just an hour lasted for more than two hours.

After dinner, since Sharon didn't want to go back too early, Ellen suggested the two go out for shopping, a suggestion they both agreed to wholeheartedly. Besides, they needed to buy some new clothes as they were both starting their work this week,

Fortunately, Magee didn't have any other plans, so he decided to accompany the two beautiful women as their bag-carrier.

They drove all the way to the largest shopping mall in C City, an establishment owned by the Ye Group, the same company Sharon and Ellen were going to start working for.

Suffice it to say, the shopping mall was sensory overload. The walkways flowed like tributaries to the main rivers of people, not a sharp angle to be seen. It smelled like heaven in a hand-basket and the floor shined like the surface of a lake at sunrise. In the background was music to soothe, gentle flowing notes to take the shopper's cares far away.

"Oh my God! This place is amazing! I want to buy everything." Ellen's eyes widened in awe as she looked around not knowing where to start.

Watching Ellen's excitement from a short distance was Sharon and Magee, who followed her closely, giggling at her child-like behavior.

"Your new colleague seems interesting," Magee said playfully, glancing at Sharon with a cheeky tinge in his eyes.

Sharon looked at Ellen up and down before she winked and said, "Well, what do you think? Are you impressed? I forgot to mention that Ellen is still single."

"Are you joking? Didn't you say you just met each other today?"

"That's right." Sharon nodded and added, "To be more exact, five hours ago."

"Five hours of knowing each other and you're already trying to set her up with me? You're just awesome."

"Ha-ha... Is that your idea of a good comeback?"

"Not really," Magee replied, shaking his head. Looking at the woman standing at the entrance of the shop, he raised his eyebrows and said, "Didn't you say that you wanted to buy some clothes? Go and pick what you like. I'll pay for it."

"Thank you!" Sharon showed her gratitude with a lively smile of appreciation.

"You're welcome."

"Magee, I just want to say that I'm very happy to have you around!"

"Damn it, woman. You just realize I'm a good man now? It hurts me so much."

Sharon couldn't be late for work on her first day.

After freshening up, Sharon slipped into her new work attire and synched her watch before rushing out.

When she ran to the gate, she was surprised to find that Magee was still there.

Didn't he leave early in the morning on ordinary days?

"Let's go. I'll drive you to the company," said Magee, waving at her from inside the car.

Sharon was touched by his gesture. "Thank you, Magee."

"You're welcome."

The man drove fast, but steadily on the asphalt road. However, despite his best efforts, they still couldn't avoid the big city's heavy traffic because of the rush hour. Traffic wound its way down the road like a great angry snake, tires hissing over the wet road. The scene was spectacular, but not unexpected, in such a big city.

Glancing nervously at the watch on her wrist, Sharon frowned, wondering how long it would take for them to get out of there.

Magee was so frustration that he cursed in anger. Noticing her distress, he said, "It seems that there's no hope for you to be on time for work. What do you think?"

"All right. Let's wait and see." Fortunately, before she got out of the house, Sharon took into consideration the traffic during rush hours and decided to leave home a little early because she didn't want to be late for work at any cost.

She lowered the window to get some fresh air as she watched the cars behind them through the rear view mirror.

That was when she noticed the cool blue colored sports car again.

The window of the driver's seat was open. A slender hand leisurely resting on the window, with a cigarette between his middle and index fingers. The cigarette burned slowly, wisps of smoke pervading into the air little by little outside the car window.

Sharon squinted her eyes to get a closer look and for some reason concluded that the driver must have been a lonely man.

When the traffic started moving and the car drove past, Sharon quickly looked away to avoid being seen. As such she wasn't able to catch the handsome face of the car's owner. She failed to catch the lazy, indifferent arc at the corner of his mouth.

On the first day of work.

Although Sharon's job position was the chief assistant of the boss, it sounded like she was just a mere secretary.

Clearly, she had chosen the wrong major in college. The ideal courses were all taken and after brushing down her options miserably, Sharon picked the major that she thought was most reasonable.

Fortunately, she didn't have any extracurricular activities, such as office romance or a shocking love story with the boss. In fact, it never even crossed her mind.

In any case, she worked for the boss like everyone else. The only difference was that her working area was closer to him than the other employees.

While she went over her thoughts in her mind, she arrived at the top floor with the head of the human resources department. The head then knocked on the door.

Sharon made sure that her clothes were tidy and well-kept. The thought of meeting such a legendary boss made her feel nervous. It was inevitable.

"Come in, please." Three simple words!

Following the head of the human resources department into the room, Sharon lowered her eyes and entered the room. "Boss, this is your new assistant."

"Okay." Just one word.

'Nowadays, the bosses are always very short tongued?' Sharon thought.

"You can leave now!" said the boss. Sharon was surprised by the boss' tone, but the head of the human resources department said, "Yes."

As such, she wondered who on earth the boss had said that to.

"Sharon Fang?" His cold voice entered her ears with a touch of familiarity.

Sharon nodded and said, "Yes, boss."

"Very good." There was no particular emotion in these two simple words, but Sharon simply responded with the nod of a head.

However, this subtle scene did not escape the man's eyes.

"Raise your head."

'What?' Sharon raised her head slowly, and when she saw her new boss, she was dumbfounded and shocked.

How... How could it be? What a coincidence? It was him again!
