Chapter 5 Stop Crying If You Want Me To Save Your Father

How come she was crying again?

When Dylan saw that Cassie was crying, he stood up from the sofa and went closer to her.

He made Cassie sit down on the sofa and said, "You have to stop crying if you want me to save your father."

Cassie did the best she could to suppress her tears. She held Dylan's hand and with a trembling voice, she said, "I... I'm not going to cry anymore. Please, help me save my father."

Only after hearing Dylan's voice did Rita finally realize that there was actually a man in the room. In confusion, she asked, "Cassie? Who is this?"

Dylan reached out his hand politely and said, "Hey, it's nice to meet you. My name is Dylan Lu and I'm..."

He looked back at Cassie and tried to remember her name. After he did, he added, "I'm Cassie's fiance."

Looking at the man who stood there with a tall and strong figure, Rita felt a little confused. Wasn't Cassie supposed to be with Adam? Why did this man appear all of a sudden?

Even though she was a little confused, Rita was mannerly enough to reach out her hand. She looked at Dylan in bewilderment and said, "Hello..."

It only took half an hour for Simon to acquire all the information about the abductors and find them.

"They are here. Should I bring them here?"

Graciously sitting on the sofa, Dylan simply nodded.

Two men, one with a green coat and the other in a black jacket were brought inside.

The man in the green coat saw that Cassie was sitting in the sofa, completely spent.

He looked closely at Dylan from head to toe and the two of them made eye contact. When Dylan's eyes fell on his, the atmosphere of the room became very hostile.

Of course, Dylan went straight to the point and asked, "Where is he?"

The man in the green coat sneered and said, "Who are you talking about? Debts need to be paid first. When it comes to my business, I have a set of rules. Besides, who are you? This is none of your business.

"

Simon struck the man's knee and pompously said, "Do you realize who you're talking to? "

The man fell to his knees and he looked up at Simon with eyes that glared with fury.

Just as he was about to stand up, the bodyguard in black pressed him down on the ground. The man in the green coat unwillingly looked at Dylan and said, "It doesn't matter to me who you are! ! If you owe me money, it's only right that you pay me back! No matter where you are or where you're from, that's the universal truth!"

Cassie's thin and cold fingertips pulled on Dylan's sleeves. Her voice was lacking in energy, as if completely drained, when she said, "My father..."

Dylan turned to look at her, and in his eyes were a complex kind of tenderness.

He looked at her with eyes that gave her reassurance.

Simon brought out a bag and said, "Your five million dollars is here. We'll give you the money, but only after you release her father."

The man who wore a black jacket peeked inside the bag and saw all the red bills. He whispered to the man in the green coat, "Brother, it is real money."

The two men chuckled amongst themselves and exchanged a look with one another. "Okay, okay. We'll let him go right away!"

After being given the location of Cassie's father, Simon called to confirm the address and said, "You can leave now."

Suddenly, a tinge of slyness appeared from the eyes of the man in the green coat. He looked at Dylan and said, "Sir, I have something to tell you."

When Simon heard that, he looked a little worried. Dylan straightened his suit and casually said, "Go ahead."

The man in the green coat leaned closer to Dylan, but it just so happened that Cassie had unintentionally raised her head at the same time. A cold light flashed in her eyes. The next second, just as the dagger was about to stab Dylan, a sudden thought came through her mind that there was no way this man could die! If he died then no one would be able to save her father!

Without a second thought, she rushed forward and pushed Dylan away. "Watch out!" she shouted.

Simon was shocked, but he tried to grab the dagger away from that man's hand. Unfortunately, it was too late.

Just then, blood began to gush out from Cassie's thin, white arm and the next second, her body was lying on the white tiles like a blooming rose.

In a fit of rage, Dylan violently kicked the man in the green coat and yelled, "You have a death wish!"

All the emotional blows that Cassie had to go through today had drained her both physically and mentally. Her vision began to blur and it slowly darkened.

In a fit of panic, Dylan took a tissue and pressed it down on her wound. He then picked her up and ran downstairs.

The man, who was now being restrained by the bodyguard, tried to block his way through the stairs.

Dylan turned to Simon and in a cold, commanding tone, he said, "I don't want to see these two people in H City anymore! And I want Cassie's detailed information."

Immediately, Simon understood what he meant. He nodded and said, "Yes, sir."

Later in the hospital, Cassie was lying in a bed inside a VIP ward.

By this time, the doctor had already bound up her wound. The doctor was professional and respectful. "Mr. Lu, the lady is fine. It is just a small wound. If you don't need anything else, I'll leave now."

Dylan nodded. "Got it."

After that exchange, Simon sent the doctor out of the ward.

Dylan looked at Cassie, who was quietly lying on the bed. There was an inexplicable look in his eyes as he watched over her.

Her face was ashen while she slept.

He thought, 'How could this woman be so stupid?' The knife was aimed at him, but she pounced on it and put herself in danger without a second thought.

Simon walked back in after sending the doctor away. In a low voice, he said, "Mr. Lu, I've already sent Cassie's personal information to your e-mail."

He rubbed on his temples and said, "Okay. By the way, please find out what really went on last night."

Simon nodded and answered, "Yes, sir."

The afternoon sunlight shone into the ward softly and quietly. Dylan watched over Cassie with furrowed eyebrows.

He opened his e-mail and read up on the information that had been sent to him about Cassie.

It turned out that Cassie was not the biological daughter of her parents. Since Maggie was infertile, she and her husband decided to adopt her from the orphanage.

Maggie was Cassie's adoptive mother. She had gotten addicted to gambling and had a lot of debts. Every few days, people she was indebted to would come over and ask for the money from her and her family.

Cassie had made a fortune with the help of her novel, which was called "100 Days of Sweet Love", and was able to pay off many of Maggie's debts. However, that was only a drop in the bucket.

Sean, her adoptive father, was suffering from ALS and his treatment required a lot of money. The gambling debts and high medical fees of her parents were all on Cassie's shoulders.

By the time Cassie woke up, it was already night time. She opened her eyes in a daze and the quilt on top of her slid down from her movements.

When Dylan heard the rustling sound, he looked up at Cassie and closed his laptop.

He cleared his throat and said, "You're awake."

Cassie nodded. She felt a throbbing pain from her arm and only then did she notice that her arm had been injured.

She whispered, "Thank you."

When she spoke, her voice was very hoarse, making her feel a little uncomfortable for a moment.

"No problem at all."

Dylan continued, "They've let your father go. He's currently in the hospital."

When Cassie heard that her father was in the hospital, she was ready to hop out of bed. "How is he?" she asked eagerly.

Holding her hand, Dylan casually said, "Don't worry about it. I've asked a nurse to take care of your father in the meantime. Now, we should talk about my conditions."

Hearing that her father was fine, Cassie breathed a deep sigh of relief.

She clasped Dylan's hand nervously and asked, "Conditions?"

Dylan brought out a contract from his side and handed it to Cassie. On the document, she saw two words that struck her: "Marriage Agreement".

Cassie looked at Dylan with eyes widened from shock and stuttered, "You... You want me to get married with you? "

Dylan gracefully leaned back against the back of the chair and crossed his legs. He buttoned his shirt and explained, "Yes, we will get a contractual marriage. The contract will last for three years and will give you fifty million dollars by the end of the term. If I ask for a divorce before the term ends, you can get the fifty million and leave in advance. In the next three years, I will help you deal with any people who cross you, and I will help you with your career. Moreover, I will find the best doctors in the country to take care of your father. And if you want, I can find your biological parents for you."

Cassie was stunned. She stared at him in utter disbelief.

Those things: paying off her debts, curing her father and developing her career. Moreover, finding her biological parents. These were things that she had spent her whole life trying to accomplish. Additionally, he would give her fifty million dollars at the end of three years.

The deal was very promising, making it very tempting for her.

She remained silent for a few moments and raised her head to ask, "What do you need me to do in return?"

When he raised his head, Dylan's eyes met with her calm eyes. He nonchalantly said, "You need to help me deal with the media and my grandmother."

Well, that didn't sound very difficult. Besides, all she had to do was act.

Cassie nodded and said, "I can give you this promise, however...

I need to add some terms to it."

Dylan looked at her with much interest and said, "We can talk about it."

"You can't interfere with my personal life."

"Sure."

"You can't have a physical relationship with me."

"Sure."

"You can't force me to do something I don't want to do."

"No problem."

Watching as Cassie stared into thin air, he asked, "Is there anything else?"

All of a sudden, Cassie's mind went blank. That was all she could come up with. After a moment, she suddenly shouted, "Oh, and there's another one! If I find out that you're having an inappropriate relationship with another woman, then I should have the right to ask for a divorce. These are the only things I can think of for the time being. If I come up with anything, I'll add more to it later."

Inappropriate relationship? What was the meaning of this phrase?

Narrowing his brooding eyes, Dylan asked, "What do you mean by-- inappropriate relationship?"

Cassie was silent for a moment and stared at him blankly.
