Chapter 5 Kidnapped Kidnapped!

Consuela had truly thought that if Sheryl vouched for her innocence, Harry would think twice about judging her too quickly. She was more than willing to forget about every hurtful word he had said about her as he was the first and only man she had ever loved! Unfortunately for her, it seemed everything had fallen on deaf ears. Why? Because she wasn't the person he loved! No wonder he didn't believe her! Now, if that was the case, what was the use of trying to explain to him what had truly happened? Was there even a need to do that?

A bitter smile crept up on Consuela's face as tears kept streaming down her cheeks.

"You are the one I love, Sheryl," Harry declared as he affectionately stared into Sheryl's eyes, completely ignoring Consuela.

Though looking taken aback, Sheryl seemed like she was enjoying the attention she was getting from Harry. Consuela could feel literal pain in her heart.

She felt defeated and discarded. With tears in her eyes, she picked up her purse and started walking towards the cafe's exit.

But before she was able to get out of the door, she heard Sheryl answer Harry's confession. "I love you, too, Harry," she said. That completely broke Consuela's heart. "Where are you going, Consuela?" Sheryl called out when she noticed that Consuela was about to leave.

Instead of answering, Consuela darted to and through the door. Her heart felt so pained that she didn't want to see or be anywhere near Sheryl or Harry at that moment!

Harry was so angry that he didn't even spare Consuela a glance. But despite that, something inside him knew that he had lost a precious thing forever. Worse, he wouldn't be able to get it back anymore.

A frown contorted his lips and he lowered his head slightly.

With a joyful, contented smile, Sheryl watched as Consuela fled the place. 'You're no match for me, Consuela!'

Consuela walked on the streets in a daze.

The wind blowing past her face had already dried her tears, and her heartache had already drained her face of color. All she could think of at that moment was what had happened between she and Harry in the past.

"Consuela, your face will be ruined if you continue crying! So stop crying!"

"Consuela, did you get hurt? Does it hurt? Are you okay?"

"Consuela..."

These were the words Harry had said to her. These words had made her feel better then, but now, they only made her feel unwanted and abandoned.

The image inside her head persisted, as if taunting her. She shook her head in an effort to get rid of it, but it wouldn't budge. Instead, it only became clearer: Harry bent over in order to kiss Sheryl, and behind them was the setting sun. It was beautiful, except for the fact that she was just a bystander.

Consuela couldn't take it anymore. She felt terrible to the bone. The pain that she was feeling in her heart was so great that she couldn't even cry.

'How did it come to this?'

She asked herself the same question again and again, but she couldn't come up with an answer.

All of a sudden, Consuela's pupils constricted and her body trembled. The painful memories that revolved around Harry and Sherry ceased to roll in her head. It was as if she was back to that terrible night. It was as if she was reliving a nightmare.

All of a sudden, a sharp beep rang out and brought Consuela back to her senses.

With a confused expression, she tilted her head to the side.

"Hey you! What are you doing? Watch where you're going! Use your eyes! They're not just for decoration!"

It was the driver of the car in front of her. He was stretching his head out his window to glare at Consuela, an impatient look written all over his face.

Consuela suddenly realized that she was standing in the middle of the road. If the driver hadn't stepped on his brakes on time, she would have been dead now!

"I'm sorry! I'm so sorry!" Consuela apologized again and again, feeling guilty. She bowed deeply and stepped back to sidewalk.

"Damn it! Learn a lesson. Stop being absent-minded, especially when you're walking by a road where cars drive! If I was a bad driver, God only knows what would have happened to you!"

As soon as he finished speaking, he withdrew his gaze from Consuela, restarted his engine and drove off without looking back.

After this ordeal, Consuela felt more alert. Though still hurting inside, she tried to hold back her tears to focus on where she wanted to go. However, her feet wouldn't cooperate with her. She stood still for a long time. She soon realized the reason why she seemed paralyzed: she had nowhere to go.

As self-loathing and sadness began to envelope her once more, she noticed an unfamiliar black car pulling up in front of her. Before she could even react, the door opened and a strong hand grabbed her arm, pulling her inside the car.

She landed on the car seat with a thud. Maybe because of the stress she had been feeling as well the suddenness of this encounter, she promptly passed out.

Consuela didn't wake up until the car she was in had driven a few miles away from the spot she was taken.

She looked around in confusion. The first thing she noticed was that she was in the backseat of an extremely luxury car. Then, she noticed a man beside her, who looked ferocious in his suit and tie.

"Who, who are you?" she asked, trying to ease the discomfort in her heart.

"You don't need to know." The man sat straight, his eyes hidden under his sunglasses. His voice was cold and emotionless.

Consuela stared at the man in confusion. Soon enough, she started to recall what had happened. She was kidnapped! And now she didn't know where the car was heading!

Wait, kidnapped? Kidnapped!

What was going on?

It was not until then did Consuela realize how serious this matter was. Her mind had been preoccupied by Harry and that strange man that she hadn't been able to think of anything else. Fear began to root in her heart and began to show on her face.

She turned her head to look out the window at the scenery passing by. There was nothing she recognized, and so she began to panic.

"What... Where are you taking me to?" Consuela turned her head back, swallowed her saliva, and tried to calm herself down.

"You will know when we get there," the man answered, his tone still cold.

His face, however, scared Consuela even more. She always behaved herself and had never offended anyone. If ever she got into a fight, her sister and Harry would help her solve it swiftly. Now, she was just confused!

The thought of Harry and Sheryl made her sad and dejected. Her heart was still aching, but now she was more scared!

Soon enough, Consuela felt that the car was stopping slowly.
