"Hey you, what did I just say?" The teacher howled at her. "I am talking to you, Miss Joy," the teacher said when she realized the girl wasn't conceding, and the anger in her voice could be heard.
"Miss Joy!!" The teacher yelled again, and this time she banged her fist on the table of the young tan-skinned girl.
"I'm sorry," she confessed quickly, trying her best to resist the gaze of her classmates. "I'm just... hmm. You know what, forget it." She sputtered.
One of the students said, "Perhaps she got her vagina licked by a dog," and the rest erupted into laughter.
That is it. Joy hates them because they won't stop prying their noses into her business, but what other choices does she have?
"No, she probably lost her lunch fees again." Another says, and the students feign a sorry look.
"I'm sorry ma'am!" Joy laments, her gaze now staring at the floor, and she is trying her best not to cry at the same time.
They are all bitches. She thought. Aren't they the ones that made her lose her lunch surcharges? That is how they have been doing it ever since she began schooling here.
Well, she'd already been exonerated of it. Ever since her first day at school, Rebecca and her crew have been bullying her.
Could she blame them?
Hell No! That is how it had been ever since she was old enough to untangle left from right. It begins at a young age. This is the fourth school she has been to in three months, and she is not ready to change schools again.
Besides, she is in her final year, and there are just two weeks left until school goes on vacation. Perhaps, that is how she chooses her destiny.
They will be starting their final-year exams next week. Just a week left. She assured herself. Everything would soon end well.
She couldn't report Rebecca and her crew. She had heard that her father was the owner of Mega Mercy Model School. Moreover, she had heard of all the terrible things that happened to everyone who reported Rebecca to the headmistress. That is her father's wife.
Either they were expelled the next day, or they ended up losing their arm or leg. No way! Joy shook her head. She couldn't let that happen. She had been patient enough, and she couldn't destroy everything she had been enduring due to a single day of anger.
Besides, she believes that anger is a demon. If you allowed the demon to take over, it would tarnish everything you have ever worked hard for.
Moreover, fighting back isn't an option. Wait a minute, can she even beat Rebecca and her squad? If she tries it, then her mother should be digging her grave or ready to waste her power on her again.
Besides the fact that the seven of them always walk and do everything together, they are like a pack of wolves. Yes! She has heard tales of wolves, vampires, and other night-walking creatures. Moreover, there are more of them in the mega mercy model. That means they aren't tales anymore.
However, Joy is as useless as a waste product. She had turned eighteen last week, and she hadn't discovered her power.
Normally, a wolf or lycan always discovers their mate, or Erasthai, at age eighteen. But she is different. She hasn't even discovered her power, and she can't sense any special ability in her. So, how can she find a mate?
Some of her friends used to tell her about their wolves' behaviors and emotions. Yes! Supernatural beings can feel each other's connections. Joy has heard about how some people always converse with their wolves, but the middle land is different. They can only feel their wolf's emotions. "Ours," she whispered. Did she just say ours? She only heard about these from her friends; she doesn't have one.
Rebecca is a lycan, so running away is the only thing Joy can do whenever she senses them coming. Failure to do so would not only cause her trouble but would lead to the loss of bones.
Hell no! Joy wouldn't want that. The last time she sustained a fatal injury, let's just say when Rebecca and her crew broke her arm, it took half of her mother's power to restore it. Lastly, her mother is a witch. A healer.
Not only is lycanthropy stronger than a wolf's, but lycans are also deadly. They are faster, stronger, bigger, and more skillful than wolves. The worst breed ever is a hybrid. A half-vampire, half-lycan hybrid. Or a hybrid of a wolf and a lycan. Even a hybrid wolf can't defeat a hybrid lycan.
It would have been preferable if Joy had any superpowers, even if they were limited to somatic drawing and mages' spells. However, the reverse is the case for her.
All she has is a little training and knows how to wield a sword. Lastly, Joy had a skill that she loved calling "mad ninja skills." That is what helps her survive and escape from Rebecca's wrath most of the time.
Feeling the coldness of the watery precipitation touching her skin, she jerked up instantly. That is when her brain starts functioning again. She had been lost in thought to the extent that she didn't know what was going on inside the class again. Joy used her eyes to examine the class, and she could see them looking at her like she was an anomaly.
The class teacher had just poured cold water on her skin, and the class was now making fun of her. Rebecca and her crew were also giving her a killer look. Without being told, Joy knew she was in for more trouble.
"What did you just say? " The biology teacher asked again. She dropped the cold table water on the desk while using her finger to adjust her recommended glass.
Not knowing what to say, Joy shook her head gently. "Hmm, nothing ma." She said quickly, trying her best to avoid the teacher's stare and be bold at the same time.
"Seems like the powerless nerd girl has grown some wings." A girl named Rachel mumbled, and the class laughed again.
"Shut up," the biology teacher yelled, and everything became as silent as a graveyard, and Joy was grateful for that. Well, who won't fear Miss Mary?
