TRILLIONAIRE SON-IN-LAW IN DISGUISE

Rose yelled

CHAPTER 1

It was 5 am inside the bedroom. A man in his mid-twenties was seen lying on a mat on the floor beside an elevated bed. His name was Michael Robinson and he was the live-son-in-law of the Stephen family.

On top of the elevated bed was his wife, Rose Michael. She had long brown hair and cold green eyes. Also, her appearance was amazingly beautiful, like that of an angel, which made Michael count himself a lucky man on earth to have gotten married to her.

However, Michael and Rose had never slept together as a couple, even though they were legally married, because Rose disliked him due to his poor status.

Just then, Rose rolled herself on the bed, facing the direction where Michael was lying. As she opened her eyes, her eyes suddenly glanced down at her worthless husband lying on the cold-tiled floor, snoring at her.

"I don't just know why this thing won't let me sleep in peace in my own house again. All he does is snore, snore and snore." She muttered to herself with an annoying sigh.

She stood up from the bed and walked quietly to where a bottle of water was. Taking hold of it, she turned around and headed back to where Michael was.

She quickly and quietly opened it and instantly poured it all on him. "Get up, you good for nothing, man. Get up now!" She yelled with anger in her voice.

Quickly, Michael jerked up from the mat. An annoying frown made its way to his face, as he stood on his feet. He tightened his face and clenched his fist in anger but he quickly held himself back from striking, seeing that it was his wife.

"You want to hit me? Then go ahead and do it." Rose said sharply, as she stepped forward, waiting for Michael to hit her.

"No, no, no, Rose. Why should I do that? You're my wife and I won't dare raise my hand on you. Never!" He said, his voice calm and void of anger.

He paused and then continued calmly. "But you shouldn't be doing this to me. Pouring me cold water when you know that I do sleep on a cold floor. That's not good. At least, treat me with some respect as your husband that I am."

The action of Rose was not surprising to him at all because that had always been her pattern of waking him up. But what annoyed him the most was the fact that he had warned her countless times.

"Slam!" Rose was so furious that she couldn't hold back her anger. She had warned him several times never to address her as his wife and him as her husband. That was why she slapped him.

"Shut up that trash you call mouth! Never address me as your wife. I'm not your wife and you're never my husband. And why should I treat you with respect when you can't fulfill your responsibilities as a man?" She demanded, her tone sharp.

Michael bent his face in shame, his eyes filled with inflowing tears.

Raising his head, he said. "Rose! I know why you are treating me this way. It's because I'm not wealthy like other men and I understand. But I promise to be the kind of husband you wish to have someday. I promise you that."

"But I promise to be the kind of husband you wish to have someday." Rose mimicked him, ridiculously. "Just look at your mouth!"

"And When? When will that be? You have been saying this for years now and yet nothing to show for it. You're such a worthless man I have ever met in my life. I regret getting married to you in the first place." She spat and then scoffed, pointing fingers at him.

"Stop depending on my parents' little wealth. Go and find a job, fool!" She added and moved away from him, heading to the bathroom to take her bath for the office.

Her words were so cruel that they caused Michael's heart to sink in pain. He didn't know when he threw himself onto the bed, covering his face in shame.

"Michael! Why is your life like this? Why Michael? You're older than so many successful men out there. And here I am, living with my in-laws in the same house as my wife. I can't even provide for the family. I'm such a worthless person like my wife had described me to be." He sobbed silently to himself.

As he was lost in thoughts, Rose's voice suddenly snapped him out. "Will you get up from that bed? Just get your stinky buttocks out of my bed now!"

Michael's eyebrows furrowed as he raised his head and looked at her. She had just finished changing her clothes and was having a towel wrapped around her, ready to take her bath.

His eyes lingered on her fairly smooth body. It was so lusting that Michael felt like going over to touch her at least once.

"Have you suddenly turned deaf? You worthless man? I say get up from my bed." She yelled again at him.

"I'm sorry. I won't do it again." Michael apologized as he stood up from the bed.

"Better! If you want to sleep on a bed then go get one." Michael nodded affirmatively.

"And..." She paused and continued as she seemed to remember something. "I'll leave for the office once it's 6 o'clock sharp. So, go to the kitchen and prepare breakfast for the morning. Do you understand?"

Michael nodded. "Yes, I do. I'm going to prepare your most loved meal, Ma Po Tofu." He said with a smile, hoping to also put a smile on Rose's face because he didn't like seeing her always angry.

He had been trying to put smiles on her face several times with his funny words even though he wasn't able to provide for the family. He only wanted her to be happy.

But instead, Rose frowned annoyedly which caused his' to quickly disappear as it came.

"You must be very stupid. How many times are we going to be eating Ma Po Tofu in a week?" She asked, her expression grim. "I want you to prepare a different thing today."

Michael nervously scratched the back of his head as he asked calmly. "Please, what do you want me to prepare?"

As soon as he asked that, Rose glared at him for a moment without a word, her eyes blazing in rage. She shook her head angrily. "Just go. Go and prepare Black Pudding." She instructed.

"Black pounding?" His heart sank as he asked. "I don't know how to prepare that. I'm only good at preparing Ma Po Tofu." He admitted.

"You are mad. Just do as I say." She yelled at him, then entered the bathroom and slammed the door behind her.

Michael stood, biting his lips. His face was evident of how frustrated and disappointed he looked. He knew he wasn't going to make what Rose had just demanded but his desperation to make her happy left him in a train of thoughts.

Suddenly, something seemed to run into his head. "Yes... yes, Michael, you can do it." He said, tapping his head.

Quickly, he wrapped up the mat and headed to the kitchen.

Chapter 2 Michael attempts to cook

Chapter 2

As he got to the kitchen, he took a deep breath with the hope of getting everything done, thereby fulfilling Rose's wish.

He quickly dipped his hand into his pocket, bringing out his cheap Android phone, which had several broken glasses and was half blind. The phone was so bad that he struggled to type, 'step-by-step tutorials on how to prepare Black Pudding.'

After several minutes of struggling, he was able to type it, and multiple results came out he selected one of them and began to watch.

"What a nonsense day for me. I can't even see anything on the screen. I'm not seeing a single thing." Michael mumbled as he struggled to watch the video but couldn't see a single thing.

Not seeing anything that was on screen got him so annoyed that he angrily switched it off. And with an annoying sigh, he pocketed it and sat in the air.

"I can't even afford a good phone. How then am I going to make my darling Rose the meal she demanded?" He sighed and got up on his feet.

"I'm not going to let her go to work on an empty stomach. I will make her Ma Po Tofu instead. And I'll make it more delicious like never before."

Immediately, he began gathering ingredients, his hand moving as fast as possible like a flash as he set to prepare the meal.

As Michael was busy gathering and setting things in order, Roshni walked into the kitchen and glared at him angrily.

She was Rose's mother and Michael's mother-in-law and she despised him to the core. She had warned her daughter, Rose, to get him divorced, however, Rose had retorted because Michael was hardworking and easily controllable.

Seeing Michael still living in the house with her always gets her annoyed.

"Good morning, mother-in-law." Michael greeted her as soon as he took a glimpse at her.

However, Roshni's expression remained grim as it was, but she shook her head angrily. "What's good about the morning when you have chosen to make my daughter's life miserable? Your mates are the breadwinners of their home and you...? What are you?

A man with no job, a man who can't provide for his family. Shame! Shame on you, Michael!" She scoffed and spat at the same time.

Michael was calm as he gently digested every one of his mother-in-law's words. His heart sank deeply.

"I will make sure Rose gets you divorced and gets married to a well-to-do man who can take good care of her and give her whatever she asks for." She continued, her voice evident of her seriousness.

Hearing his mother-in-law talk about divorce, a hint of panic made its way to Michael's heart. Although he was badly treated by Rose, he still loved her and wasn't ready to let her go.

"Mother-in-law, I know that I'm not capable of taking good care of your daughter, Rose, my wife, too well as you all expected, but I'm trying my best to see to it that I'll become the best husband to her, and best son-in-law to you too." He pleaded and paused, then continued....

"And besides it's not my fault that I'm poor. Everything is...." Before he could complete his statement, he was cut short by Roshni. "Yes, you're right. You're not to blame but rather your good-for-nothing parents who didn't brush you up well."

Michael felt his heart ached in pain as he heard his parents being addressed that way. But he couldn't utter a word.

"Now, get back to what you were doing because soon Rose will be leaving off to the office to work out what you're going to eat. And be fast with it before she leaves." She snapped and stormed out of the kitchen.

As Roshni walked out, Michael let out a heavy sigh, his face twisted in frustration. "Why do they keep treating me like a nobody?" He murmured to himself. "It's because I'm not wealthy. But I promise to prove to myself that I'm capable of taking good care of their daughter. And I won't stop until it's proven."

Without further talks, he faced what was at hand. "I need to be fast before she leaves so that she can eat something." He hurried as he saw the time on his $2 wristwatch.

It was 5:30 am, thirty minutes to the exact time that Rose was to leave for work.

Since it wasn't his first time making Ma Po Tofu for the entire family, it didn't take him much time and he was done. He quickly and cautiously served it to each one's bowl and carried them then walked down the stairs to the dining hall.

As he entered, his eyes lingered on everyone. They were already seated waiting for him. His eyes lingered constantly on Isabella, her grandmother.

Isabella was in her early seventies. She was the mother of Adams Stephen, Rose's father. Michael had wished that everyone would have been like her because of how nicely she treated him. Unlike everyone, including Josh, Rose's brother, who insults him on regular occasions despite that he is two years older than him.

"What kept you so long in the kitchen?" Stephen asked, looking furious.

"Father-in-law...." Michael didn't finish his sentence when his father-in-law cut off his words. "Just shut up and don't dare call me that next time. In short, just bring the meals and get lost."

"Stephen! Take it easy on him. You know he has been the only one doing everything. You don't expect him to be fast in everything." She defended.

Stephen let out a sigh. "He doesn't do anything useful in this house so I don't see any reason why he spent the whole day in the kitchen."

"Aren't we going to eat, huh?" Joseph snapped at Michael as he watched his in-laws argue.

Quickly, Michael began to serve them, positioning each bowl in front of each of the family members.

Michael was heading back to the kitchen when Grandma Isabella's calm voice caused him to halt in his steps. And he quickly turned around. "Aren't you going to dine with us?"

"What?" Everyone's eyes were bewildered. "No, Grandma, I respect you so much, but that fool can't eat with us at the same table. Never!" Rose ranted.

Chapter 3 Michael finished preparing breakfast

Chapter 3

"Why? Rose, isn't he your husband? Why can't he dine with us?" Isabella queried, looking disappointed.

"He's not my husband and can never be until he's capable of doing what other men are doing for their family." Rose lashed out with a sharp retort.

"Period!" Everyone supported, which made Michael bow his head in shame as he stood speechless.

Not wanting to prolong the conversation which seemed unfavorable to her, Isabella sighed deeply and quietly opened her bowl to eat. The rest of the family also opened theirs.

While Michael turned to go back to the kitchen. Just as he moved, Rose's angry voice caused him to halt in his steps again as he turned.

"What the hell is this? Why Ma Po Tofu? Why did you prepare it? Didn't I tell you to prepare Black Pudding?" She angrily slammed her hand on the table, standing on her feet.

"Yes, you did. But I don't know how to prepare Black Pudding." Michael admitted calmly, walking closer and standing to his father-in-law. "I didn't want you to go to work on an empty stomach, that's why I chose to prepare Ma Po Tofu."

"As a caring husband or what?" Stephen interjected, looking furious.

"Not like that, father-in-law. I was....." Michael didn't finish his sentence when his father-in-law gave him a tight slap which left a red handprint on his cheek that kept his face burning.

"Next time, do whatever she tells you to do even if you don't know how to do it. Do you understand?"

"Yes sir." Michael nodded as he held onto where he had been slapped, hoping to soothe the pain.

Angrily, Stephen slumped on his chair while Rose stood in anger, still not satisfied with what her father had done.

"Why do you have to slap him that way, Stephen? Did he commit anything wrong that made you hit him that way?" Isabella shook her head and asked. Her words are pitiful. "And besides, the meal he made is delicious."

"Yes, grandma. He did everything wrong and Dad should have hit him more than that. And whether the meal is delicious or not I don't care." Rose stubbornly said, grabbing her office bag to leave.

"And you? Why are you still beside me? Take this key and drive her off to the office." Stephen pointed at Michael, throwing his Camry's key car to him and he quickly caught it in the air.

"Rose, my darling daughter," Roshni called to her, as she stood up on her feet with a worried face and look. "You know this small company of ours is what your Dad and I have struggled to establish and we can't bear to lose it and our house for anything. Please put in your best." She held her hand.

"Yes, Rose. Your mom is right. Remember, we owe some loans which we need to pay back. Or we'll lose everything, both our house, company, I mean everything. Try your best since your good-for-nothing husband can't do anything. Instead, he's living off our little wealth."

Michael felt a burning blush on his face hearing his father-in-law say that. He couldn't help but shed secret tears which he quickly wiped off.

"Mom, Dad, we're not going to lose anything. I promise to do my best and make sure to pay back the loans and also see to it that our company gets to a greater level. I promise you that." Rose assured.

Stephen and his wife, Roshni, had started a Fashion Company some years back, and when the company was on the verge of bankruptcy, they had to borrow $4,000 from the Yonggi Cho family, one of the wealthiest families in the town of Maple.

Since then, they have been unable to pay back the loans, and they have been threatened by Yonggi Cho to take both their company and their properties from them, which was worth the total amount of money.

"You have all our trust." They echoed with a smile of relief.

"Alright, I have to go now. Bye, Dad, Mom, Grandma, and Joseph." She waved with her bag hung around her shoulder.

They all nodded. "Have a nice day." Immediately, she moved, and Michael trailed behind her in his regular cheap clothes with the car key in his right hand.

Michael was the first to get outside and he quickly ran to open the front door behind the driver's seat, giving Rose a queenly treatment. But when Rose got there, she didn't even look at him but she quietly opened the back door and sat down.

With a disappointed sigh, Michael quickly closed the door and stormed into the car, taking his place in the driver's seat. He roared the engine to life, spun the wheels, and sped out of the compound.

As he drove, there were minutes of calmness in the car. He could notice Rose's countenance through the front mirror hung at the top of the driver's position which made him feel uneasy. So he was the first to speak.

"Rose! What's the matter? You don't look happy. Why?" He asked worriedly. However, Rose didn't answer him a word.

He kept quiet and concentrated on driving. He then turned once more and cast a worried look on her again. "I heard all that your parents were saying. Please, what do they mean by they didn't want to lose the company and the house, and how much are they owing?"

"Michael, just let me be. We're owing $4,000." She shouted.

"What? $4,000?" Michael was stunned.

"Yes, you heard me clear and the lender said they're going to take everything that belongs to us since we're unable to pay back." She added.

"That's not going to happen."

"Then give me the money to pay them back." She stretched out her hand to Michael.
