A man was laying on the ground with bloody clothes, blood was coming out of his mouth, as he struggled to talk, he looked like he was shot a couple of times.
Sitting next to him was a male teenager, with blond hair and brown hazel eyes. He had a worried expression on his face, he looked like he was attending to the man's wounds.
"Arthur stop, I told you to go! you need to get as far away from here as you can!" The man said to the teenager.
"What no! I need to get you to the hospital dad!" The teenager replied, looking at his cellphone. He had called 911 almost 15 minutes ago.
"It's too late for me son, if you don't move from here they'll kill!"
"No they won't, I've called 911, and I've phoned Jared he'll be here.... Dad! Dad.... stay with me!" The teenager yelled, seeing life escape his dad's eyes.
The teenager's dad put his hand on the teenager's hand and looked him in the eyes. "Arthur just listen to me..listen to me, if something happens to you, who do you think is going to run the consortium? You're the only..." The teenager cut his dad's sentence.
"And if something happens to you, I don't want nothing to do with your consortium, so you better live old man." The teenager demanded, applying pressure to his dad's wound so the blood won't keep coming out.

"Dad Dad no! Don't die on me God dammit!" Arthur yelled, as he jumped out of his sleep, he opened his eyes, to see a beautiful brunette, his wife sitting next to him with a worried expression on her face.
"Arthur, what's wrong?" Stacey asked, looking concerned.
Arthur sat up, and rubbed his eyes to awaken himself, his heart beating violently on his chest, he looked at his wife who was looking at him with her green eyes wide, it was clear that she was worried, "I was talking in my sleep again, was I?" Arthur asked his wife in a sad voice, his heart beating faster than usual. He hated that dream he just had.
Silently sighing, Stacey glared at her husband as she lifted a pillow in her arm, "Next time, you wake me up like this, I'll suffocate you Arthur," Stacey warned as she got back to her bed while carrying the pillow. She couldn't believe her 'useless live-in-husband woke her up again.
"Suffocate me?.... She's lying." Arthur Amusedly mumbled, sitting back on the couch where he slept," She cares about me...she came to check up on me."
"Excuse me?" Stacey's expression turned dark with anger, as she glared at her annoying husband.
Realizing he should not have said that out loud, Arthur glanced at his wife nervously, "Huh?...nothing, I was just talking to my ....I'll shut up now." Arthur nervously said, stealing a glance at her expressionless face. Not believing how cruel and cold her eyes can look and at the same time, they're very alluring.
Stacey broke off her gaze from Arthur, she was blushing at his words, but she'd never show him that though. "Go back to sleep." Her voice was devoid of any emotions.
"Yeah sure." Arthur replied; Stacey was still glaring at him, it was clear she was annoyed at him.
"Jerk," Stacey uttered, getting back to sleep, she gently covered herself. But she still couldn't sleep since the lights were on, and she wasn't used to sleeping with the lights on.
She rolled her eyes in irritation, and turned her head to the couch, where Arthur slept, "Arthur Turn the lights off." She asked in an almost commanding tone.
It was all Arthur's fault that she turned the lights on after all. She was so worried about him that the first thing she did when she heard him shout in his sleep was turn the lights on.
'What does he always dream about anyways? I just hope it's nothing to worry about,' Stacey thought to herself, briefly glancing at him. 'And I thought he told me his parents were dead...why does he keep on saying 'dad, mom? Maybe I should know more about him?' Stacey thought, but she quickly buried that thought.
Why would she want to know someone so useless as him? It won't be long before they get divorced.
After waiting for some time and Arthur wasn't turning off the lights Stacey got irritated to the core, is he getting stubborn now?
"Arthur! I won't say it again, turn the damn lights off!" Stacey warned.
Still no answer?
Stacey took a deep breath, and glared at Arthur, "I'm going to throw water on you if you don't wake up." She threatened, grabbing a glass of water from her bedside table, as she said: "One...two..."
Taking a deep breath Arthur got up to turn the lights off. "Fine, I'm up," Arthur said as he walked to switch off the lights knowing she wasn't joking, she would have really thrown the water on him without a second thought.
After switching the lights off, Arthur timidly walked towards Stacey's bed, "Okay the lights are off my Lady...what else do you want me to do?" Arthur asked in a playful tone. He had been yearning to hold her, it's something he had never done.
Letting out a sigh Arthur asked nervously and hesitantly, "The couch is not that comfortable....think I can share the bed with you?"
In response, Stacey rolled her eyes and turned her head to him giving him a look.
"I promise, I won't touch you, without your permission." Arthur said, looking at Stacey.
"Arthur got away from me! Dont be dumb, you think I would sleep next to you? Get back to sleep dummy!" Stacey yelled.
'Dummy.' That was her nickname, for Arthur, but he never seemed to mind that, she could call him anything she wanted. Anyways even if he wanted her to stop calling him names, that wouldn't help, it would only motivate her to call him even more names.
Arthur took a seat on the couch and let out a sigh, he was not planning on falling asleep anymore, lately, whenever he fell asleep he would have the same dream over and over again. "I hate that, I really, really hate that dream!" Arthur angrily mumbled to himself.
Why does he keep having that dream? Lately, whenever he went to sleep, he kept on having a memory dream?....or something like that.
Maybe he felt guilty for not being able to protect his parents. If he was just a little tougher, then, would his parents still be alive?
"Great, now I'm afraid to close my eyes," Arthur said, sounding disappointed.
"Keep talking to yourself, and I'll make sure you don't leave the house for a week, Arthur," Stacey warned, in a stern voice.
Sighing audibly, Arthur rolled his eyes. He didn't dare make noise for some time, but not because he was afraid of being grounded. He was grounded the day they got married, she never allowed him to hang out with his friends or go outside of the Villa of his own will. In fact, the only times he was allowed to go out was when he would drive his in-laws' children to school and he immediately had to come home after that.
"I still can't believe you blackmailed me to marry you, all because we had a one-night stand....and up to this day you're still blackmailing me, into staying on this marriage," Arthur said, his voice sad, turning his eyes to her bed, hoping she'll at least talk about it. She rarely talked to him. The only times Stacey talked to him was when she yelled at him, or something like that, she acted more like his boss, than his wife.
"I'd like a divorce, I want out..." Arthur stopped his sentence midway, as Stacey ínterrupted him.
"Arthur, don't make me shut you up right now, stop talking!" Stacey said in a low but threatening voice. One of the things she hated was hearing about the divorce.
Stacey hated hearing Arthur demand a divorce, so when she heard Arthur talk about it tonight, her temper shot up quickly.
"Arthur, don't make me shut you up right now, stop talking!" Stacey said in a low but threatening voice.
"You treat me like I don't have emotions, we've been married for two years now, and you treat me like I don't feel anything. It's not entirely my fault, that you lost your virginity to me, you know...you begged me to spend the night with you." Arthur complained in a low voice. "You treat me like I'm nothing...you ordered your security to never let me out of the Villa...I'm not free...." Arthur's sentence was interrupted as a cell phone was thrown at him, but it didn't hit him. Even though Stacey's aim was off, he took that as a warning shot.
Softly sighing, Stacey sat up on the bed and gave him a cold glare, as she reached for the earplugs on the bedside table. There was nothing more annoying than hearing the taker of her virginity complain.
"Go to sleep..... don't forget you have a lot to do tomorrow, you have house chores to do, and a bunch of other stuff to do...at home." Stacey mockingly said, as she covered herself.
"Oops, I almost forgot, I'm the maid in this house," Arthur exclaimed, sarcastically.
"So! You do know your place!" Stacey replied in the same sarcastic manner as him. "Now shut up, maid!" Stacey warned sarcastically.
'Maybe I should just walk out of this marriage. What am I doing here? I don't think she'll ever have genuine feelings for me, she'll never feel the way I do, and she'll never understand.' Arthur thought to himself, his heart beating painfully in his chest. 'I have a lot I need to do back home....Jared is old now, I should give him a break....I really love you Stacey and I was hoping maybe one day you'll get to accept me as your husband,' Arthur didn't sleep the whole night, as he was lost in thought.
In the morning.
"It's morning," Arthur mumbled, faking a smile on his face as he looked at his reflection in the mirror, he could barely recognise this beggar he saw in the mirror. He let out a sigh as he walked off the bathroom.
Stacey was sitting on the bed as she just woke up. Ignoring her Arthur walked to his closet on the corner, he had already made up his mind to leave.
Stacey was surprised with his behavior just now, he always greets her and tries to talk to her in the morning. What changed?
Stacey was even more puzzled when Arthur started parking his clothes in a backpack. Shouldn't he be preparing coffee for her and the whole family right now?
"Ummm...what are you doing?" Stacey asked, with a curious look.
Glancing at her, Arthur let out a soft smile, and got back to packing as he replied, "I've decided I'm going to walk out of this marriage." Arthur replied casually, with a smile on his face.
Gazing at Arthur, Stacey walked towards him and grabbed the backpack off his hands, letting out a faint chuckle, "Cut it out, you know I would never allow you to leave..." Her expression turned serious as her emerald green eyes locked with his hazel brown eyes.
Silence fell for a few seconds as they got lost in each other's eyes.
"Is everything alright?" Arthur's voice snapped Stacey back to reality, she looked at him awkwardly and smiled, "Make me coffee," She ordered, trying to get over the fact that she was lost in his pretty eyes. "Unless you have the 100 million dollars stated on the contract, then be free to walk out please." Stacey said, turning away from Arthur.
"Yeah sure I have it." Arthur replied nonchalantly, making her turn to look at him with a surprised expression.
Eyeing him from head to toe, Stacey walked closer to him with a serious expression, knowing damn well that he is just lying. "Really?" She asked in a whisper looking back and forth from his eyes to his pinkish lips, as if she was like she was considering kissing her husband.
"Yes." Arthur replied, looking anywhere inside the room, but at her, right now he just wanted out of this marriage, finally giving up on his dream of her falling in love with him, "I'll send you the money as soon as I walk out of the Villa, tell the security to let me leave." Arthur suggested confidently.
Sure, she lets him go, and then he disappears, where the hell is he going to get so much money?
The seriousness never left Stacey's face as she glared at him, and scoffed, "This is not about the money Arthur, even if you miraculously had the hundred dollars, I wouldn't take it, Arthur," Stacey replied coldly. And then suddenly she ran her hands on Arthur's six pack, she gave him a smile and said softly: "I need coffee to start my day...who knows, maybe tonight you can sleep next to me? You're my husband after all," She finished the sentence as she gave him a gentle kiss on his cheek.
Arthur blushed like a little girl, as the image of her kissing his cheek so lovingly replayed on his mind, this was exactly what he always wanted, looks like him wanting to leave made her realize something?
Stacey's voice snapped him out of his thoughts. "Well, my coffee?" Stacey asked coldly, taking a seat on the bed.
With a slight smile, Arthur left Stacey's bedroom, and went downstairs to prepare coffee for his wife.
When he was coming down the stairs whistling excitedly, his mother-in-law, Victoria, was waiting for him in the living room, carrying a laundry basket. As usual, Arthur had a smile on his face, as he approached his mother-in-law, "Good Morning mother-in-law?" Arthur greeted, maintaining the smile that Victoria hated.
Victoria sternly eyed him from head to toe, and her blood boiled, when she saw him smiling.
"Trash, I'm not your mother-in-law.... anyways since You're up early?" Victoria mockingly replied, "Make yourself useful and do my laundry." She dropped the laundry on the sofa and started walking upstairs in her pajamas. She briefly turned around and let out a mocking grin, "Oh and, the laundry machine isn't working so you're going to do it by hand. Trash."
"Sure mother." Arthur mockingly replied.
Sighing exhaustingly, Mrs. Victoria turned and looked at Arthur with a disdainful look, eyeing him from head to toe menacingly. If he wasn't supposed to wash her clothes, right now, she would have ordered the security guards to beat some sense into him.
With a scoff, Victoria walked to her bedroom.
Arthur gladly picked the basket up, ready to start his laundry, when Hailey, Stacey's younger sister sneakily walked inside the house, looking tired, Arthur glanced at his watch and it was 6: 30 am, meaning she must have been out all night and now she wants to sneak in to her bedroom and pretend like she was home all night.
Arthur acted like he didn't see her, he yawned and looked the other way. "I better wash mom's clothes before she scolds me again." He chuckled, gently scratched the back of his head.
Hailey let out a sigh of relief, as she tiredly started going up the stairs, when a voice from behind her startled her, "Sister-in-law, it's not nice to ignore your brother-in-law."
Stunned, Hailey touched her chest, turned around and looked around the living room, acting like she didn't see her brother-in-law, "Where is my brother-in-law? Where?" She finally rested her eyes on him and mockingly laughed out. "Oh you? You're not even a real man, you are just a pretty face that tricked my sister into marrying him, so how do you expect me to accept you as my brother-in-law, look at you you're useless..trash..." Hailey smugly said pointing her fingers at Arthur, she turned and walked upstairs to her bedroom.
Those words would break a person's heart, but they never broke Arthur, he was used to being insulted by the Roth family. More like the wrath family, cause they took out their anger and frustration on him.
"One-day sister-in-law, one day, I'll show you," Arthur mumbled to himself, clenching his fists, his anger boiling. "I'm just waiting for your sister to accept me as her husband." Arthur mumbled, a smile crept up on his face as Arthur turned around only to see Damian, Stacey's twin brother glaring at him. 'When did he get here?' Arthur thought to himself, maintaining eye contact with Damian, wondering if he heard what he just said.
With a scoff, Damian looked at Arthur from head to toe, examining the casual raggy clothes that Arthur wore. Mockingly laughing, Damian said: "Keep dreaming trash," Damian said, he aggressively pushed Arthur out of the way, making him fall on the sofa, as he walked past him. "My sister will never love a useless guy like you homie." Damian said mockingly.
Rolling his eyes in irritation, Arthur replied politely: "Have a good day at work, brother-in-law!"
"Man, how shameless can this live-in son-in-law be?" Damian mumbled, to myself clenching his fists in anger. seeing Arthur ruined his good mood already.
Arthur was still seated on the sofa, holding a pillow, lost in thought. "Maybe he's right...it's been two years now, and there's still nothing between us," Arthur mumbled, he exhaled audibly and stood up to start doing his chores.
He was made to do everything in the house by the Roth family, cleaning the toilets, cooking, ironing and so much more. Not at all what he expected when Stacey forced him to marry her three years earlier. But what could he expect? She forced him to marry her. Threatening to get him locked up in prison for the rest of his life if he refuses to marry her.
But Arthur could leave this miserable life any time he wanted by just simply walking out of the door, and he had the best life waiting for him outside of this Villa, but his love for Stacey made him want to stay all the time he decided to leave. He didn't want to leave without his wife Stacey, he loved her so much, even though the feeling was not mutual. She didn't even let him touch her, not even once ever since they got married.
Arthur's cellphone rang bringing him back to reality. Exhaling audibly, he fished his old model cellphone from his pocket, and checked the caller's ID.
It was finally breakfast time and everyone was downstairs, not a lot of family members dared to miss breakfast, cause if they did miss it, they missed out on a chance to roast the worthless son-in-law. And he was stupid enough to let them insult him.
Even Hailey was making fun of the useless brother In-law today, not caring that except for Arthur, No one else knew Hailey was out all night, and she came back in the morning.
But she needed not to worry as she knew even though her brother-in-law was useless, he was no rat.
Coming down the stairs, Victoria rested her eyes on Arthur, a look of disgust crept on her face, you could say her mood was ruined after seeing him.
"Trash did you wash my clothes?" Victoria asked, focusing her eyes on him, she couldn't believe she once admired this son in-law two years ago, when her daughter brought him to the Roth Villa. Because of his pretty face that could put a lot of models to shame, and his handsomeness, she believed he was not a regular guy, but some rich heir, from one of those mysterious families in Angeles City.
But as time passed, she began to realize he was a nothing, and her attitude towards him began to change, and so did everyone's attitudes around the house. The only person whose attitude didn't change was Stacey's, she was mean towards him on their wedding night, and she was mean now.
"Arthur serves breakfast." Hailey ordered snapping Arthur back to his bitter reality.
"Sure." Arthur replied politely. As usual, Arthur would serve everyone, but wasn't allowed to take a seat with them at the dining table.
But he was allowed to receive free insults from everyone at the dinner table, and eat their leftovers once they are done. How nice was that?
Today was his lucky day though, not many people were having breakfast at home so he was only going to get a few insults.
"Arthur, when are you going to do something useful with your life?" That was Naomi, Damian's second wife, starting the insults.
Sighing inside, Arthur glanced at his wife, who was always not bothered when the family made fun of him these days, anyways she also made fun of him sometimes, but only when they were alone, and she was bored.
The fact that she never stood up for him always made Arthur feel bad. Without answering Naomi's question Arthur turned around to go upstairs. "I think my work here is done." Arthur said going up the stairs, but he was called again, "Arthur can you come here please?" Dick, Stacey's younger brother, asked mockingly, "It's not nice to go while we are not done eating, who's going to attend to our needs? And who's going to eat all the leftovers?" Dick mockingly said with a grin. Arthur stood behind him, looking unbothered.
"You never answered my daughter's question Arthur, when are you going to get a job? Surely you can't expect your wife to care for you for the rest of your miserable life." Iris, Naomi's mom, asked the same question, but this time she was looking at him like he was disgusting.
"I don't know....maybe the same day you decide to get a job, I'll also get one? Please let me know when you do....we both could use a job don't you think?" Arthur mockingly replied, stealing a glance at Stacey and continued in a serious voice, "And, I work for everything I get in this house....even the insults."
Frowning, Iris shut her mouth in shame, she couldn't deny the fact that despite being in her mid-40s she relied on her son-in-law.
Seeing iris's defeated look, Victoria jumped in. "Trash! Who....what have you worked for in this house?" Victoria asked, pointing at the costly stuff inside the house, while yelling and calling Arthur names, to make him feel embarrassed.
Arthur looked at Stacey, she looked unbothered, she just kept on eating her food. "Apparently I'm not allowed to work outside." Arthur replied, stealing another glance at his wife, and continued, "Cause I would bring shame to the Roth family." Arthur quoted his fingers in annoyance, as he quoted the sentence that Stacey told him.
The sentence bruised Stacey's ego, with a glare at Arthur, she stood and walked to him.
"Did I say something wrong? You told me that, remember?" Arthur explained politely. He forgot that she told him never to tell anyone about it.
"You told me to not get a job, remember?" Arthur tried to explain to his wife as she was looking at him coldly and walking toward him.
The attention on the dining table was on him and Stacey, as it looked like Stacey would slap him hard as she often did when he messed up. But that didn't happen. Instead, something similar happened, in anger, Stacey abruptly picked up a cup of coffee and threw it on Arthur's face.
"Aah!" Arthur screamed out as he touched his face in pain, but the coffee wasn't that hot, so it didn't damage his face, "What's wrong with you.....?" Arthur shouted, opening his eyes to see Stacey angrily walking up the stairs.
'Seriously?' He thought to himself, his heart was aching at the fact that his wife just spilled coffee on him without a second thought, she didn't even check to see how hot the coffee was, before spilling it on his face.
"You're Lucky it wasn't hot Mr nobody, hahaha!" Vivianne, Stacey's Aunt mockingly laughed out.
Faintly smiling, Arthur ignored her and ran after his wife, to confront her.
"Stacey!" Arthur called out as he walked inside the bedroom, he glanced at her bed but she wasn't there. Stacey was in the shower, "Stacey why would you throw coffee on me?" Arthur' asked as he stood at the bathroom door, and Stacey didn't answer him this time either.
He knew better that Stacey had a short temper, but he didn't think she would get so mad and throw coffee on him over such trivial issues.
"Can you please just answer me Sometimes? I'm your husband!"
Stacey didn't answer him this time either.
feeling annoyed, Arthur sat on the bed for some time and waited for her to come out of the bathroom.
"I'm not allowed to hang out with my friends, I'm not allowed to work and I'm not allowed to walk out of this marriage, cause she doesn't want me to...." Arthur mumbled, venting out his frustration, looking at the ceiling, "and I'm not allowed to touch her...." Arthur mumbled to himself in frustration. He exhaled audibly, focusing his eyes on the bathroom door, waiting for her to come out.
Maybe it would be better if he just walks out of this marriage, it's been two years and nothing has changed between them. Except for a peck on the cheeks earlier.
After about 20 minutes of being in the shower, Stacey walked out wearing a bathrobe. She spared Arthur a glance but didn't say a thing to him, he was expecting at least an apology.
Even though he was mad at her, Arthur couldn't deny that she looked so beautiful after coming out of the shower, Arthur struggled to get his eyes off....
"Can you not look at me like that?" Stacey asked, Her cold tone made Arthur jump out of his daydreaming.
"Can I at least get a job? Please?" Arthur asked like a little boy asking his mommy to buy him a toy.
How did his life become this?
"Leave, I want to get dressed." Stacey instructringly said, without sparing Arthur a look.
"Yeah sure I'll leave if you tell your security guards at the gate to let me pass?" Arthur replied coldly, still seated on the bed.
Seeing he was not leaving, Stacey shot him a cold look, "I said, leave!" Her voice was devoid of any emotions, just like her facial expression.
Arthur softly chuckled and looked at her, trying to understand her. "I'm sorry did I like....hurt you, in the past, to deserve all of this? I can't...." Arthur paused as he looked at her inspectingly, he let out a small chuckle and continued, "I'm done....I think we should let each other go, we're wasting each other's time don't you think?" Arthur asked.
Stacey's face formed a menacing grin as she looked at him, "If you want to walk out, give it a try...." Stacey paused her sentence, her facial expression turning serious, and her tone became cold, "And after you fail to get past the security, clean the bedroom please. That's if the security doesn't hurt you, or break your legs," Stacey threatened. Thinking Arthur will change his mind about leaving after hearing that.
Frowning, Arthur quietly stood up to leave the bedroom, so he could talk with Jared, his butler over the phone.
Stacey was puzzled, as Arthur ignored her warning. "Arthur, I warned you, don't blame me for what happens next!" Stacey warned again, but Arthur didn't stop still. She would hate it if he leaves her.
"Stop, you can be my new secretary from today if you want." Stacey said nonchalantly, stopping Arthur on his tracks.
