That was how Randall started fighting back, defeating anyone who got in his way-and ultimately, living his legendary life.

Chapter 1 Cheating Girlfriend

"I'm going to kill you, Perry!" Randall Carter roared and charged forward. With a creaking sound, he suddenly sat up.

His eyes peeled open and fell on an infusion bottle that had broken to pieces on the floor.

Randall found himself sitting on a bed.

"Is this a ward?"

Randall habitually raised his right hand to wipe the cold sweat off his forehead.

A tearing pain shot from his palm to his shoulder, making him cry out and tremble over.

When he saw the gauze on his right hand, memories flooded his mind.

Yesterday, Randall had gone to the bar with his girlfriend, Tonya Burton, to celebrate securing an internship position in Brooker Infirmary.

On the way out, they bumped into Perry Shaw, who was already drunk.

Perry was a popular trust-fund baby in their school. He was fond of making trouble just because he had money and power.

When he set eyes on Tonya, Perry began to flirt with her and touched her inappropriately.

Randall flipped out when he saw this. He punched Perry in the face.

In a fit of pique, Perry took out his knife from his pocket and brandished it fiercely. He managed to drive the knife into Randall's right hand during the scuffle.

Randall remembered seeing blood gush out before everything went black. Now, he woke up in a ward.

"Where is Tonya? Is she okay?"

Despite his injury, Randall was still worried about his girlfriend.

Randall's parents had gone missing three years ago. He didn't have anyone to fund his education, so he worked many part-time jobs and took student loans.

He was still in his freshman year when he met Tonya. It was love at first sight for him. She was so beautiful and friendly. Since then, she had been by his side.

The two of them had plans to get married after graduation.

Randall was thinking of Tonya's beautiful face when a figure suddenly ran past the door.

It was his girlfriend, Tonya.

Why was she in such a hurry? Did Perry try to mess with her again? Was she in danger?

Randall immediately grew worried. He quickly pulled out the cannula from his right arm, causing a little blood to seep out.

He walked out of the ward barefoot, dragging his weak body with all the strength he could muster.

The corridor was surprisingly empty at this time.

Randall supported himself with the wall as he went in the direction that Tonya ran.

There was a VIP ward at the end of the corridor.

At this time, the door was ajar. Voices came from inside.

The voices sounded so familiar. Randall didn't want to pry, but he couldn't help approaching the door.

"Are you feeling better, Perry? I cooked soup for you. Please have some."

"You are so considerate, Tonya. This card is loaded with one hundred thousand dollars. You can buy a new Louis Vuitton bag with it."

The girl's voice sounded so familiar. And her name was Tonya, too.

"No, it can't be her. It's probably someone who has the same name. My Tonya would never do this to me. I got hurt because of her. Why would she be with Perry of all people?"

Randall shook his head vigorously. He found it hard to believe that Tonya was with Perry.

But what he heard the next second threw him off balance. There was no denying the identities of those people in this ward.

"Perry, you are so kind to me. I'm yet to finish spending the five hundred thousand dollars you gave me yesterday. I can't believe I wasted three years of my life with Randall. He never gave me a gift worth more than ten thousand dollars."

The girl's voice was gentle, but there was an undisguised contempt in it. It sounded as if Randall was a beggar who didn't deserve her.

"Tonya, you bitch!" Randall roared and kicked the door open.

Chapter 2 Unexpected Arrest

The door swung open with a loud bang.

The two people in the ward turned their heads in panic.

With his eyes blazing, Randall roared, "How could you do this to me, Tonya? I got injured while trying to protect you! Why are you with the guy who injured me?" His voice quaked with hurt and disbelief.

"Let me tell you why, you knucklehead!" Perry sneered at him. He reached into Tonya's blouse and fondled her breasts while staring at Randall.

"While you were in a coma last night, Tonya came to my ward. She told me that your hand was severely damaged and you could no longer practice medicine. She wanted to find a man she could rely on!"

Tonya shamelessly moaned with pleasure as her breasts were kneaded.

"I gave her five hundred thousand dollars and asked her to be my girlfriend. She willingly agreed!"

It was obvious that Perry was deliberately trying to provoke Randall.

Disdain was written all over Tonya's face as she turned to look at Randall. "Newsflash, Randall! You are no longer the genius student of Herdale Medical School. I don't think you will graduate without any hassle now that you are disabled."

Just as Randall was about to fire back, his phone rang.

The call was from the head of the medical department of Herdale Medical School.

"Randall, I hate to break it to you but the internship position at Brooker Infirmary can't be given to a disabled person. The position will go to someone else now."

The head of department hung up. He didn't give Randall the chance to speak.

This call was a bolt out of the blue. Randall lost his mind immediately.

"I'll kill you, Perry!" Randall roared like a wounded lion and grabbed the chair nearby. He lifted it with his left hand and threw it towards Perry.

Not only did Tonya cheat on him, but his life was also taking a downturn now.

Randall broke down. However, his strength failed him.

"You are just a disabled man. How dare you be so arrogant?"

Perry managed to dodge the chair. He grabbed the vase on the bedside table and smashed it in Randall's head.

Holding his head, Randall stumbled backward and leaned against the wall.

Blood seeped out from his head, dampening his hair in a split second.

The pain was still not compared to the one he felt in his heart. His eyes turned red as if they had fire in them.

Perry and Tonya staggered backward when they saw the murderous stare in his eyes.

"Don't do anything stupid, Randall! You started it first by throwing the chair at Perry. Don't be stubborn. Just kneel and apologize instead of dragging this matter. You are bound to lose no matter what!" Tonya said after she got over the fear.

She got short with Randall, as if he was someone she could boss around anyhow she deemed fit.

Randall let out a snicker when he heard her statement. He yelled angrily, "How am I the one at fault? This bastard stabbed me last night. Now, he hit my head with a vase. He should be the one apologizing, not the other way around! You know what? I'll take him to court for this. He will rot in jail!"

Randall was confident that he would get justice as long as he sued Perry.

Tonya sucked her teeth and yelled, "You will regret it if you offend Perry further. He's untouchable!"

"He's not worth it, Tonya. Don't bother arguing with this lowlife," Perry piped up with a smirk, pulling Tonya closer. "Randall, don't shoot yourself in the foot. You were the one who wanted to rape Tonya. I saved her from your claws. Your injury was just a casualty in war. It was self-defense on my part. But for you, it's attempted rape and murder!"

The banter on his face became more obvious as he spoke.

For a trust-fund baby like him, reframing an incident was no big deal. He was sure he would win the case even if Randall dragged him to court.

"That's right! I can testify in his favor!" Tonya leaned against Perry's chest to make it clear that it was two against one.

Randall was disgusted by them. "You both are ridiculous!"

At this time, there was a sudden rush of footsteps outside.

A group of uniformed police officers trooped into the ward.

The man in front was on a low-cut hairstyle. He had full lips and a chin that looked like that of an ape. Once he entered the ward, he looked around vigilantly. His eyes finally fell on Randall.

"Randall Carter, you are under arrest on the suspicion of attempted rape and murder!" he declared, glaring at Randall.

Chapter 3 Sudden Rescue

"Take him away!"

The captain snapped his fingers as two policemen came forward and put Randall in handcuffs.

They were so ruthless. They gagged Randall and put a black bag over his head. Afterward, they dragged him out of the hospital.

Randall was shoved into a police car.

When the black bag was removed, the light from a table lamp stung Randall's eyes.

With time, he got used to it. He looked around and found himself in a narrow interrogation room.

Augustus Griffin, the police captain who had arrested him, was sitting opposite him.

He eyed Randall with a sinister smirk.

All of a sudden, he slammed a document with a red seal on the table.

"Boy, serious allegations have been leveled against you. And the evidence is damning. If you know what's good for you, sign this paper quickly. Behave yourself. Otherwise, you will suffer more!"

Augustus took out his pistol and placed it on the table. The threat was obvious.

Randall picked up the document and looked through it.

The document contained a detailed report of how he attempted to rape Tonya and kill Perry.

Randall's eyes glistened with sadness after he read the report. He sighed deeply.

"Officer, I'm actually the victim in this case. How come I'm being labeled as the suspect? Is this because Perry is rich? Since when have rich people become above the law?"

Randall had held out hope that the law would come to his aid. But it seemed that was impossible now.

Augustus snorted. "You shouldn't have stepped on Perry's toes. You deserve what is coming at you. Cut the crap and sign it now! If you don't sign it, I'll blow off your brains!"

Augustus picked up his pistol and pointed it at Randall's forehead.

Unfazed by that threat, Randall yelled, "You are so corrupt! As an officer of the law, it's your duty to make sure people get justice. But you want to frame me and kill me. Don't you have any conscience?"

Augustus sneered. "Shut up, you rapist! I can just kill you here and say that you tried to attack me. Who do you think people will believe, you or me?"

Randall closed his eyes and took a deep breath, pretending to be helpless now.

"Yes, people will take your word for it. No one will seek justice for me. But..."

Randall picked up the document and smiled.

"I won't own up to what I didn't do!"

His fingers tightened around the paper.

In the blink of an eye, the document was torn into pieces.

"Bastard, do you want to die?" Augustus roared, staring daggers at him.

With a look of boldness, Randall stared back at him. He pointed at his forehead. "Go on. Kill me," he said slowly.

Randall's parents had vanished into thin air. His girlfriend, who was his source of joy, dumped him for someone else.

His dream to become a successful doctor was dashed since he was now disabled.

Randall had nothing now, so he didn't see the point of living. He wanted to end it all.

Augustus grinned wickedly when he heard that statement. "Fine, I'll grant your wish!"

He then cocked the gun and placed his index finger on the trigger.

"Don't you dare!"

Suddenly, the door of the interrogation room was kicked open.

A tall and busty woman dressed in a black suit strode in.

Behind her were the sheriff of the police station and a dozen policemen.

Augustus stood upright and saluted the sheriff. "Sir, I'm currently interrogating this hardened criminal. To what do I owe your visit?"

"Humph!"

The sheriff snatched the pistol from Augustus' hand.

He then aimed it at Augustus' legs.

The next second, he pulled the trigger.

"Ah!" Augustus let out a shrill cry after he was shot twice in a row. He collapsed to the floor.

With a fiery fire in his eyes, the sheriff shouted, "Let it be known that Augustus Griffin was caught embezzling police funds and collecting bribes. He even attempted to hurt me with his gun. He's stripped of his title. Lock him up as he awaits trial!"

The sheriff gestured at the policemen, who rushed in and dragged Augustus away.

Afterward, he personally unlocked the handcuffs on Randall's wrists and said respectfully, "Mr. Carter, I'm sorry for what happened. I take the blame for it. I should have trained my subordinate well."

At this moment, the sheriff was nothing like how he was when he punished Augustus.

Humility mixed with a tinge of fear was written all over his face.

Randall was too stunned to speak. His eyes fell on the woman who stood out in the crowd.

He had a hunch in his guts. He suspected that she had a hand in turning the tide.

Sure enough, he was right.

The sheriff bowed respectfully to the woman and uttered, "Miss Vance, sorry for the hassle. You can take Mr. Carter away."

"Okay." Amari pulled Randall and walked out of the police station. He followed her like a puppet.

Only when they got to the parking lot did Randall summon the courage to ask, "Who are you?"

Amari stopped dead in her tracks. She turned to look at him with her eyebrows raised. "My identity is not important now. Follow me, and I will make everything clear to you. Now, you need to answer one question. Do you want to get back at Perry?"
