Chapter 5

Selena suddenly remembered that a bracelet was still with Caius.

She had searched the villa inside and out but couldn't find it.

She had forgotten to ask about it at the party yesterday, so before going home she needed to make a special trip to see him.

It was a bracelet her mother, the Menezwa family's Godmother, had left her before she passed away, and Selena had to get it back.

After finding out that Caius was at the Capone family's casino, Selena took her suitcase and went there.

Once she retrieved the bracelet, she planned to head straight home.

Without her usual glamorous couture dress and makeup, even the surveillance room chief didn't recognize her.

"Godmother... oh, no, Miss Menezwa, are you here to see the Godfather?"

Alberto Baxter, the man in charge of casino security, came out with a cigar in hand.

He had a good relationship with Selena and had gotten used to calling her "Godmother" whenever he joined in the teasing before.

He looked troubled.

"Miss Menezwa, you know the rules. Without the Godfather's permission, I can't just let anyone in."

The bodyguards behind Alberto exchanged glances.

They had all heard the news.

The Godfather had cast aside Selena, who had fought by his side for ten years, to marry a delicate young girl.

The bodyguards all felt it was unfair to Selena.

"Speaking up for her like that? Anyone would think this casino belonged to Selena," came Caius's voice from the VIP room on the second floor.

The casino fell instantly silent; even the roulette ball rolling across the wheel could be heard.

"Let her in."

Selena walked up the stairs, step by step.

Caius looked her up and down before finally speaking in an unhurried tone.

"Dressed so plainly-trying to make me feel sorry for you?"

Ignoring his taunt, Selena cut straight to the point.

"I left a bracelet with you-give it back."

Caius exhaled a puff of smoke, the haze blurring his expression.

"I gave it away."

"To whom?"

"Charlotte," he said lightly, though his eyes stayed locked on her reaction.

Selena closed her eyes for a moment.

"Caius, didn't I tell you it was a keepsake my mother left me?"

"So what?" Caius sneered, rose to his feet, and closed the distance step by step. "You threw away my ring, so I gave away your bracelet. Fair enough."

Selena's fingertips trembled slightly, but her face stayed calm.

"Give me back the bracelet, and I'll leave right away."

Caius stared at her for a few seconds, then suddenly laughed.

"Alright-but on one condition."

"What condition?"

Caius leaned in slightly, closing the space between them.

"Gamble with me. If you win, the bracelet is yours. If you lose... you'll be stripped and hung at the casino entrance for three days-then get lost."
