Chapter 4

I ignored Lucy and said to the receptionist, "I'm looking for Marc. Could you please tell him?"

Lucy looked me up and down, and her gaze was finally fixed on the necklace in my hand.

She couldn't help but laugh. "Emilee, great Luna, your necklace is truly beautiful."

I didn't quite grasp what she meant, so I instinctively lifted the necklace. The receptionist gasped upon seeing it. "Lucy, didn't that necklace come for free with the one Marc bought you? So Emilee bought one for herself, too. I thought Marc gave her the freebie."

A sharp pain shot through my heart, and even my wolf felt bad.

The necklace I cherished so much was nothing more than a freebie when Marc had bought one for Lucy. She didn't even want it.

Marc was ruthless.

He had completely ignored my dignity.

As I stood there in shock, Lucy leaned in and smiled with disdain. "So, Emilee, shall I help you call Marc over?"

I stared at her blankly. Then I took a deep breath and slapped her hard across the face.

The slap echoed loudly and drew everyone's attention.

They began to whisper among themselves. Some even laughed out loud.

Lucy touched her swollen cheek in disbelief and glared at me. "Who do you think you are? You're just..." Lucy seemed to glance behind me, and her tone suddenly became pitiful. "I'm sorry, Emilee. It's all my fault. I shamelessly wanted to sleep with Marc, but can't you consider Marc's reputation in the pack? You are Luna. Stop acting like a jealous woman. Okay? Can you do that, Emilee?"

I let out a cold laugh. "Luna?"

Marc drugged me, cursed me, cheated on me, and trampled on my dignity and sincerity. But Lucy wanted me to care about his reputation and reminded me I was his mate?

What a joke!

I raised my hand again and was about to slap Lucy once more, but a large hand gripped mine tightly.

"Why are you so angry? What happened?"

I looked up to see Marc's indifferent face.

Lucy saw him and then gave me a sly smile before tears streamed down her face. She covered her cheek and looked at him with grievance. "It's my fault. I deserve to be slapped."

Marc sighed lowly. He held my hand, and his gaze turned to Lucy's cheek she covered.

Everyone thought he would speak up for Lucy, but he said lightly, "You've done too many shameful things. Since you're wrong, apologize to Emilee."

Lucy stared at him in shock, and her expression was twisted.

She reluctantly said sorry to me.

Her attitude was terrible, and everyone could tell she was forced to do that.

Marc's face darkened, and he clicked his tongue against his cheek.

In the next moment, he kicked my knee and forced me to get down on my knees in front of Lucy publicly.

His voice was emotionless. "But Emilee slapped you in public and damaged our pack's reputation. For the sake of the pack, Emilee needs to apologize to you."

I looked up at him in disbelief, only to see him looking at Lucy with concern. They seemed to love each other dearly.

I couldn't bear it any longer. So I stood up and slapped him hard across the face.

Marc's eyes widened slightly. He turned his head and said, "Emilee..."

I sneered and hurled the necklace at his face.

Her face was cut instantly, and blood streamed down. "You're so good at acting. Why aren't you in showbiz?"

Lucy only said sorry to me, but I had to get down on my knees and apologize to her?

What was that?

Besides, the injury to my knee from Marc's kick was much more severe than the slaps I gave them.
