Chapter 6 Out Of His World

Luna snapped.

She charged toward the giant screen like a woman possessed, yanking out the power cord in one swift motion. Then, without hesitation, she slapped a few of the leering men nearby across the face.

No one dared stop her; after all, she was Liam Moretti's wife. When she lost it, people knew better than to get in her way.

That was when she saw Liam emerging from the restroom.

There were still faint lipstick marks on his lips, his collar was unbuttoned and wrinkled, and Elena stood beside him, cheeks flushed and glowing like a woman who'd just been thoroughly satisfied.

The moment Luna laid eyes on them, she stormed forward.

Liam instinctively pulled Elena behind him, shielding her.

That one gesture made Luna's blood run cold. "The photos on the screen... was that you?" she asked with a bitter laugh.

Liam looked startled; his reaction was too genuine. He clearly had no idea.

Then Elena spoke, her voice oozing with mock innocence. "I did it," she said, clinging to Liam's arm. "I told Liam already. People were gossiping, saying I'm nothing compared to you, Luna, so I just wanted to... vent a little."

Luna's expression froze. The smugness in Elena's tone was the final straw. She lunged and yanked Elena by the hair, forcing her out of Liam's arms. "Say that again, I dare you!"

Elena shrieked in pain, her eyes welling with tears. "Liam! Help me... Master...!"

Snapping out of his daze, Liam grabbed Luna's wrist-hard.

"Enough!" he growled. "Stop it, Luna. It was just a few pictures. Don't make a scene."

He pulled Elena behind him protectively, his gaze stern.

Luna's wrist throbbed in his grip, pain shooting up her arm as if her bones were about to snap.

The cold wind swept through the open doors, tossing her hair into her eyes. She could barely see Liam's face anymore, and she didn't want to.

"Just a few pictures?" she said, her voice icy. "They were candid shots of me. My most private moments!"

Her voice trembled with suppressed rage and humiliation.

Liam hesitated. His grip loosened.

Sensing the shift, Elena clung to his jacket, murmuring softly, "Didn't you say no one else was allowed to bully me but you?"

Liam gave her a subtle glance, signaling her to stay calm.

Then he turned to Luna. "She's pregnant, Luna. Let it go, alright? I'll make sure she learns her lesson."

Luna nearly passed out from the sheer absurdity of it.

His version of a "lesson" meant pinning Elena beneath him...

She knew, no matter what happened today, Liam would always take Elena's side.

He was determined to make her the joke of Ravenwood.

Luna lowered her gaze, her expression unreadable.

Then Liam bent down and swept Elena into his arms.

In front of the entire crowd, he gently brushed her hair back and smiled.

"Everyone, I'd like to introduce someone very important to me. This is Elena. She's pregnant with my child. In my eyes, she and Luna are both my wives. Anyone who dares lay a hand on her-will answer to me."

His words were a slap across Luna's face, delivered with a smile and dressed in velvet.

She was his legal wife. But tonight, Liam made her equal to a woman known by the mark of a sex slave on her thigh.

Luna lifted her head through the sting of humiliation, only to be met with waves of mocking stares that pelted her like stones. Each look drove the air from her lungs.

But it was Elena's gaze that cut deepest-smug, victorious.

It yanked her back to that night in the warehouse, when Elena had whispered with venomous pride, "I'm carrying Liam's baby. Once it's born... tell me, who do you think the unnecessary one in that house will be?"

Luna's hands clenched into fists. A cold laugh escaped her lips.

It couldn't be more obvious. Whether it was now or in the future, she had already become the unnecessary one.

She grabbed her purse and turned to leave.

But Elena's voice stopped her. Liam stood beside her.

"Luna, I cooked this shrimp myself," Elena said sweetly, holding out a lunchbox. "It's my way of apologizing."

Liam frowned. "Come on, baby, just accept it and have a taste. It's Elena's way of making peace. Don't cause a scene."

Shrimp. A bitter irony twisted in Luna's chest. Liam had forgotten-she was allergic to shrimp.

He'd forgotten everything about her.

The fake sincerity on Elena's face made Luna want to gag. Without hesitation, she slapped the box from her hand. "I won't touch anything she makes."

Liam's fists clenched, rage brimming off him in waves. Without a word, he signaled his security team.

Luna had embarrassed Elena, and that, Liam would never allow.

The guards forced her mouth open, shoving a shrimp between her lips. Tears welled at the corners of her eyes. Just as she was about to vomit, they let go.

"You're being ridiculous," Liam tossed the cold remark over his shoulder. Then he walked away.

"See that?" Elena shrugged, hands wide in mock sympathy. "He chose me."

Luna looked up, face expressionless. There was no pain left in her eyes, just calm detachment.

Because she already knew, Liam didn't love her anymore. And after tonight, she would vanish from his world for good.

But then Elena suddenly flashed a wicked grin and lunged toward Luna.

"Guess what-who do you think he'd choose again?" she purred, shooting a smug look toward Liam standing just a few steps away.

Before Luna could react, Elena shoved her hard, straight into the water. Then she jumped in after her.

Water splashed everywhere.

Liam whirled around, his heart seizing at the sight of both women flailing in the pool.

He rushed forward and dove in. His arms wrapped around Elena first. He pulled her out, panicked, then began administering CPR.

Sinking beneath the water's surface, Luna watched them through the blur. Her body sank... and her heart with it.

She was yanked out of the water by a forceful pull. One of Liam's guards forced the water from her lungs, slapping her back until she choked and gasped.

She barely had time to breathe before Liam loomed over her, eyes blazing.

His hand clamped around her neck. "I told you," he snarled. "Elena and the baby are off limits. What the hell were you thinking? Get out of my sight!"

Luna collapsed to the ground, coughing. Slowly, she raised her eyes to meet his. But there was no love left there. No warmth.

And that flicker of coldness made Liam pause for the first time-just a flicker of something like doubt.

Then the guards grabbed her again.

A sharp kick to her leg knocked her to her knees.

Liam stood over her. "Apologize. To Elena."

The words sliced through her like daggers. He wanted her to apologize to a sex slave?

Luna's voice trembled with fury. "No."

Her dignity-what little remained-would never bend for someone like Elena.

Liam rubbed his temples in frustration, then gave a quiet nod.

The guards dragged her toward the exit.

"Get out, Luna," Liam said darkly. "Get out of here-and out of my life."

As the doors swung open, Luna looked back one last time.

Liam's tall frame stood unmoved. But what he didn't know... Was that from this moment on, his world really would never again include her.
