The song ended and I faked a smile, so my daughter and families can relax and not take my stoic attitude personally.

I said softly eyes on his shoes, holding it out to him and unlike the other gifts he dropped in the hamper, he tore mine open immediately, like it's something special and I held my breath until he unveiled the dark black sleek hand chain that is masculine as well as simple in a classy way.

My breath stutters and my fingers tremble. I fumbled a little but clasp it on with a click. He pulled me into a brief side hug but I can feel his hand lingering too low on my back.

"This is beautiful Nova" he murmured "Thank you. And please call me Grant"

I felt Lena beside me before I saw her, "Any friend of Lena is my friend" he added.

I scoffed in my head but maintained the smile on my face as I made way for the next person presenting a gift, before I reached my seat Lena pulled me gently after her into a private restroom in the vacant hallway.

"You didn't have to get him anything," she says quickly. "He's rich. It's not necessary."

"It's something small I could afford with my savings," I tried not to sound defensive but instead of answering she's smoothing her hair and avoiding my eyes.

"He hasn't opened mine yet," she mutters.

"I'm sure he will," I lied smoothly, she paused before saying something that froze me.

"My dad... he flirts. Don't read too much into anything he does. Just take him like a father, okay?"

Take him like a father? If only she knew how I already took him. I nod anyway and hug her, thanking her for everything. Then she leaves, and I sag against the sink.

I stay longer in the restroom to hide from him, To hide from myself. I should feel disgusted and guilty but when I walked out and collided with a hard chest that smells like sandalwood and sin, I knew who it was.

he corrects. Then lowers his voice.

"But you will soon start to call me Daddy."
