Chapter 4 Maverick's enemies

"Our enemies. I think it's the Cirillo group." Cliff stuttered and shivered slightly due to Maverick's cold aura, which seemed to want to suffocate him.

"Cirillo." A hint of amusement flickered past Maverick's eyes, and he let out a guttural chuckle.

Cliff shivered, understanding that this was the calmness before the storm; Maverick's furious mode had been triggered. He quickly lit a candle in advance for Valencia, knowing that once Maverick had her in grasp, she would wish for death rather than living.

"Very good. Valencia. Good." Maverick proclaimed with a clenched jaw.

Soon, Maverick's expression changed, and a wicked sneer surfaced on his face. So what if she escapes? He had the influence to make Valencia live like a rat if she wanted to avoid him.

"Announce that Maverick's wife, Valencia, has disappeared, and anyone who can find her will get rewarded with $15 million. Also, cancel the wedding and tell the PR to report a good reason." Maverick ordered coldly and began to strode out of the wedding hall without sparing anyone a glance. That damn woman had won!

Lessie and the Carter family weren't stupid, and after Maverick's actions, they realized what was happening, which made Lessie exceptionally happy.

Lessie's eyes flashed with impatience. She had already been so much in love with Maverick, the No. 1. eligible bachelor in the whole country; how could she let go of such a chance that that stupid Valencia failed to treasure?

Lessie quickly stood up and rushed toward Maverick. "Mr. Maverick, please wait." Lessie cried out anxiously behind Maverick.

Maverick's face contorted into a frown, but still, his footstep paused, and he turned to stare at Lessie, extreme impatience in his eyes.

A sweet smile donned Lessie's face; despite Maverick's anger, he still paused in his tracks to listen to her.

Lessie stretched her hand toward Maverick's hand, but before her hand could touch him, he glared at Lessie coldly, making her freeze in fear.

Lessie fearfully retrieved her hand and faked a pitiful and docile look. With such an expression on her face, Lessie didn't believe that Maverick wouldn't be moved.

After all, Lessie is known as one of the most beautiful and elegant ladies in the circle, and it made her believe that only a person like Maverick, the youngest billionaire, the number one eligible bachelor, and the nation's husband, is deserving of her.

Lessie believed that the only reason Maverick had chosen that slut was because he had met the shameless Valencia first and had been repeatedly disturbed by her.

Although Lessie had tried seducing Maverick in the past, she could only do so implicitly, and that had failed to give her a favorable result, unlike now.

Lessie bowed slightly, giving Maverick the chance to peek at her beautiful collarbone and smooth breasts.

"Mr. Maverick, I'm sorry on behalf of my sister and my family for failing you and making you waste your time. To counter the loss from both sides, why don't I become the bride?" Lessie blinked her eyes pitifully and sadly as if her words had borne due to pity for Maverick, which made everyone touched. They inwardly scold Valencia, that bitch, for being useless.

It's enough that Valencia had shamelessly run after men giving the Carter's bad names; now she had to disappear on her wedding and make the Carter family clean her dirt despite hoarding all the things Maverick had given her. How unfilial!

However, Maverick wasn't fazed; he sneered at Lessie instead. After all, he understood the meaning behind her implicit words. Lessie is simply tarnishing Valencia and pretending to care about him since Valencia wasted Maverick's time.

Does Lessie think he couldn't see her facade? Does she think that he can't see the joy written in her eyes as she pretends to steal shy looks at him?

Maverick finds such scheming women disgusting. "You're not worthy." Maverick spat coldly, humiliating her in everyone's presence.

Lessie froze, and her face paled, but Maverick didn't bother sparing her a glance and strode out of the hall.

Lessie's fist clenched tightly, and she lowered her head to hide her grievances and hatred. It's all that Valencia bitch fault. Yes, it's her fault. Lessie had to make her pay for the humiliation.

Despite being beautiful enough to stir many other men's hearts, she shamelessly stuck to him and earned herself the title of moneygrubber. Who knew she'd suddenly disappear on the day of her wedding?' a reporter asked in bewilderment. After all, no one had expected such things.

If Valencia was the first person to arrive at the wedding hall that day, it was expected! But what was completely out of the question was what Valencia did, leaving everyone filled with mixed feelings.

The most baffling thing is that no one knows the reason she suddenly disappeared or where she disappeared.

Angrily, Valencia turned off the TV with her puffy, red-rimmed eyes.

Today, it would've been a week since she became his bride. Instead, she had to become a rat due to Maverick's stupid announcement!

That stupid Maverick had sent his men out in search of her. No matter what country she tried to escape to, his men were there, so she could only stay here, in her late mother's secret residence in another country!

Isn't Valencia just a substitute? Why is Maverick on her ass so intently?

Maverick had made Valencia waste her youth on him, yet Maverick had no sense of remorse, and he was still searching for her.

Good for him; she made him an international joke.

Valencia clenched her fist upon recalling the reason she had left. Not only had he made her his substitute, but his cousin had also ridiculed her in the presence of the dressing staff.

Moreover, a private number had sent an audio text to threaten Valencia on the day of her wedding.

The content warned her not to marry Maverick, or else she'd die within two years of marrying him. The voice had been so thick and real that it had sent shivers down her spine.

Also, another private number sent a record of Tatiana and Maverick's mom's call.

Tatiana had cried over the call, asking why Maverick was getting married to another woman and if he didn't like her anymore.

However, Maverick's mom had comforted Tatiana over the phone and explained that she didn't recognize a random woman and money chaser like Valencia as Maverick's bride, and only Tatiana was accepted, which is the reason the whole Vandenberg had refused to show up.

Valencia's heart ached the more she remembered it, so she'd rather suppress it all.

And now it's time to move on from that heartless jerk.

Valencia swore that she'd return to Lex one day, and when she does, she'll make Maverick fall to his knees in amazement and regret! Especially those stuck-up Vendenderg family of his and her stupid father and her stepfamilies who spoiled her image on her wedding day. She swore!
