Chapter 4

I brought the ring to Ron.

Seeing him, my willpower, which I had been forcing myself to maintain, suddenly crumbled.

I fainted.

I woke up in a simply decorated room.

The furnishings were expensive but minimal.

It was a man's room.

This realization made me roll out of bed, but I lacked the strength to sit up.

Ron pushed the door open, carrying a tray steadily in one hand.

The aroma of food hit my nose-I didn't need to look to know it was all my favorite dishes.

I didn't have time to wonder how he knew and devoured the meal.

Ron sat by the bed, quietly pouring me water and wiping my mouth.

Only after I finished did I realize his behavior toward me felt off.

"You-" He suddenly leaned forward, pinning me to the bed before I could react. "You're full. Now it's my turn, right?"

I instinctively pushed against his chest. "I just ate. No intense activity."

Ron looked at my serious expression and burst out laughing, his head on my shoulder.

His laughter vibrated through his chest, reaching me.

A shiver ran down my spine.

My words stumbled out. "Ron, what are you doing?"

He propped his elbow by my pillow, closing the distance between us.

His breath was close enough to feel.

"You."

I was still full, my mind foggy.

I couldn't process what he said, only noticed how intently he looked at me.

His gaze held only me.

He leaned down and kissed me.

Already dizzy, his dominant kiss made me even more lightheaded.

I barely managed to gasp. "The door-"

I was breathless, my mind blank.

Ron irritably yanked off his tie, binding my hands and securing them to the headboard.

His silk shirt landed carelessly on the floor.

His long legs swung over me as he went to close the door.

The bedroom plunged into darkness.

When he came closer again, he asked softly. "Regret it?"

I clutched his shirt. "You've already done this. Would I still regret it?"

He chuckled lowly, stealing my breath entirely. "Too late to regret now."

This time, he didn't hold back.

He pressed my back firmly against the bed, the cotton sheets rubbing against my wounds.

Instead of pain, I sank deeper into the whirlwind he created.

For the next few days, I recovered in his room.

After that day, he could barely look at me.

When he noticed my back wounds had reopened, he even wanted to hit himself.

I stopped him. "It doesn't hurt."

The worst pain was already behind me. Nothing could hurt me now.

Just when I thought I was done with Locke, he called me.

Ron reached out from under the covers to answer the phone.

Locke's annoyed voice came through. "Julie, haven't you had enough? Come back."

I struggled to slip out from under Ron to hang up.

He didn't let me, pressing down, and I let out a muffled groan.

Locke's voice froze on the other end.

After a long pause, he asked shakily. "Julie, where are you?"

Ron moved again, then answered, breathing heavily. "In my arms."

Locke's voice turned icy, like it came from hell. "Ron, you dare touch my woman? You're dead!"

Something shattered on his end, the sound of breaking glass.

Debbie's frightened, coquettish voice followed.

Locke roared, "Julie, I'm coming to get you right now!"

Before I could speak, Ron kissed me with a smile. "Too late. She doesn't have the strength to leave with you now."

As if that wasn't enough, before hanging up, Ron added one more line. "Julie, you're pregnant now. I'll be gentle. Don't be scared."

Locke's phone smashed to the ground. "Impossible. She can't have children. How could she be pregnant?"

I Revealed a Terrible Secret After my Daughter's Place was Take Away

Modern Our Time

After completing a top-secret mission for the government, I received a call from my daughter, Michelle Harper. "Mom! I got the offer from the UN Secretariat Department as an intern! I have worked hard to apply for it for a whole year!" Her voice on the other end was trembling with excitement. She immediately started preparing her visa documents and sent me three voice messages asking what she should prepare. However, a week later, her location watch remained fixed at the third floor of the administration building of their college. I secretly went to her college, only to find her tied up cruelly in the corner. The culprit, Lacey Palmer said with disdain, "How dare you, a nobody, take the position at the UN Secretary Department that my father helped me get? Are you courting death?" Even the advisor chimed in obsequiously, "Lacey's father is the richest man in the country, and her mother is a top expert. That position is meant for Lacey." I was stunned. The position at the UN Secretariat Department? It was the position Michelle worked so hard to win. They clearly talked about me and my husband, who was married into my family, by mentioning the top expert and the richest man. I immediately dialed a familiar number and asked, "I heard you have an illegitimate daughter. Is that true?"

"I am willing to go to Otresh and join Doctors Without Borders." Kenia Watson's voice was firm. The Chief Medical Officer hesitated for a moment before speaking. "The aid mission to Otresh will last at least two years. Does your husband agree with you going?" She rotated the ring on her right hand, took a moment of silence, and then answered, "We're about to divorce. I hope you won't tell him where I'm going after I leave." She had tolerated so much, continuously searching for the truth from years ago. When she was diagnosed with cancer, her husband was having an affair with her stepsister. This time, she chose to let go and leave, refusing to be entangled with him any longer. "Hobson, in a month, we will be free." Yet, when she was critically ill, he knelt by her hospital bed, praying repeatedly for her to wake up.

After another failed attempt to climb into his bed, he sent ten men to sleep with me. Afterward, when I cried and lashed out at him, he said flatly, "I can't let you live like a nun forever." The eleventh time he arranged for someone to pin me to the bed, I lost it and swallowed two hundred sleeping pills. When I woke up, Ethan, for the first time ever, allowed me to touch him. I thought I could slowly win him over. But the next day, at his private villa, I caught him holding another woman in his arms. He kissed the top of her head, his eyes burning with a passion I'd never seen. When I confronted him, Ethan looked at me coldly. "Clara's not like you. She doesn't have those filthy thoughts or try to seduce men." I bit my lip until I tasted blood. "Fine, Ethan. Let's break up."
