Chapter 5 You Killed My Baby!

Two Days Later

I was struggling with grocery bags in the Walmart parking lot, the cold was biting through my sweater. My arms ached, but not as much as the tension that had been eating at me since that last run-in with Damian.

"You'll always be mine."

..."Don't even think about Wesley."

His words looped in my head. My fingers brushed my belly, a quiet reminder of what mattered.

Then it hit... a sharp, slicing pain in my stomach. I gasped. The bags slipped and groceries spilled everywhere. I clutched my belly and collapsed.

"Oh my God! Are you okay?!" someone shouted, running toward me.

I couldn't speak. The pain was blinding. My vision blurred.

"Call 911!" another voice yelled.

Since the bar, I'd been feeling cramps on and off, but nothing like this.

"No... no... no," I whispered, curling in.

Terror took over.

Damian's voice echoed again: "You'll regret that" as the world faded to black.

---

I woke up to a dull ache in my lower belly. Everything hurt. Even between my legs, there was a strange, throbbing pain. The lights were bright, and the bed was clean. Too clean. It smelled like antiseptic. Monitors beeped softly beside me.

I tried to sit up... and that's when I saw him.

Damian.

He was leaning against the wall like he owned the room. A cigarette hung between his lips, and he was dressed in that perfect gray suit. His expression was hard and unreadable.

"Ms. Carter, you're awake," a calm voice said.

I turned to the man at my bedside. It was a doctor, Nathan Reed, according to his badge.

"You need to rest," he said gently. "You've just had a D&C."

I blinked. "A what?" My voice cracked.

"The procedure," he explained. "The abortion. Mr. Holt signed the consent forms."

I sat upright, my heart slamming in my chest. "What the fuck are you talking about? I never agreed to shit!" I turned to Damian, my vision blurring with red-hot rage. "What did you do, you bastard?"

Damian exhaled smoke slowly, watching me like it was all just business. "It's done, Lila. Deal with it."

My chest squeezed tight.

"No. No, no, no. You didn't." I ripped the IV from my arm, my body shook. "You killed my baby! Who the hell gave you the right?! You're a murderer!"

Dr. Reed stepped back. "It wasn't like that, Ms. Carter. There were complications... Mr. Holt said you understood–"

"He lied!" I screamed. "That was my baby! I never..." My breath hitched as I turned to Damian. "Why would you do this?!"

He didn't flinch. "You heard the doctor," he said, flicking ash onto the floor. "It was already dead. You were unconscious and bleeding heavily. Your life was in danger. So I just helped you clean up your mess."

"My mess?" I whispered, my voice breaking. "You're a monster! How could you do this to me? To our baby?!"

He looked me dead in the eye.

"Don't," he said. His voice was low and dangerous. "Don't act like you're the victim here, Lila. You lost that thing because you ran. Because you went to Wesley. I didn't do shit."

I stared at him, tears burning in my eyes.

"You did this out of jealousy? Can you hear yourself?"

Damian stepped closer. His voice was like gravel when he spoke again. "You don't get it, do you? You pushed me, Lila. You ran to Wesley like you could just disappear."

He leaned in, his breath reeking of whiskey and smoke.

"I would've waited for you to wake up. Waited for the doctor to tell you what was wrong with the baby... even if your damn life was in danger. But I wanted to punish you. I wanted you to wake up to this. No warning. No preparation. Just pain." He blew smoke in my face. "This is on you. You don't get to walk away from me. Not for him. Not for anyone. And once I figure out where this all started... then you'll understand what real revenge looks like."

"You're obsessed," I whispered. "You can't stand that I might move on. You're trying to keep me chained to you? You're fucking insane."

He smirked, but I saw something darker flash in his eyes. "Keep telling yourself that," he said, stepping back. "But you'll always be mine. Even if I never touch you again."

"Fuck you!" I spat, ripping out the remaining IVs, blood dripping down my arm. "I'm suing you. You and this whole damn hospital. You think you can just do this and get away with it? You're finished!"

Dr. Reed stammered. "We thought... Mr. Holt insisted–"

"Shut up!" I snapped.

But Damian just smirked. He took a slow drag from his cigarette.

"Sue me? You?" He laughed. "You were nothing before me. And you'll be nothing after."

Dr. Reed gasped, stammering again. "Ms. Carter, we... Mr. Holt said–"

"I said shut the fuck up!" I shoved past him. "You're just as guilty."

Then I started limping toward the door.

"Lila," Damian called. His voice dropped, it sounded low and threatening. "Stay the hell away from Wesley. That body? That's still mine. Always will be."

I froze.

"Go to hell," I whispered. "We'll see in court."

I didn't look back. I limped into the hall, my gown fluttering behind me, and my bare feet was freezing on the cold tile.

But inside... I was on fire.

Author's Note:

I know this was a tough chapter to read. The trauma Lila endures is a defining moment, and Damian's chilling confession reveals just how deep his obsession runs. This isn't just about revenge anymore; it's about justice. What do you think of Damian's actions? Can he ever be forgiven? Let me know your thoughts!
