Chapter 4 RESCUED.

~ BENITA'S POV ~

A blinding light sliced through the darkness, pulling me back from the edge. It was too harsh, too sudden, for a normal morning. I squinted, my eyes protesting the sudden assault.

When I finally managed to pry them open, I found myself surrounded by trees, the dappled sunlight filtering through the leaves above. I was in a forest, the cool air a welcome respite from the darkness.

Panic set in, my heart racing as I struggled to sit up. Every muscle screamed in protest, and a dull ache throbbed at the back of my head. "What... what happened?" I whispered, my voice barely audible, where was I? For a moment I thought I had passed on and was in the after life.

Then a gentle voice cut through the silence. "Finally, you're awake." I turned towards the sound, wincing as pain shot through my head. Elder Silas, my coach, emerged from the shadows, his familiar face a beacon of hope.

"Elder Silas?" I whispered, relief washing over me. He knelt beside me, his eyes filled with concern.

"Yes, child. You've been through a great ordeal," he said softly. "You were ambushed. But you're strong. You're fated to the Alpha of our pack."

I tried to process his words, but they swirled in my mind like a vortex. Fated? To the Alpha? What did that even mean?

Elder Silas's expression turned grave. "Your sister, Madison, orchestrated this attack. She's been consumed by jealousy." The words stung, betrayal cutting deeper than any physical pain.

He placed a soft leather bag beside me. "You'll find help in the human world. Don't push him away when he offers aid. Accept his help, for it's crucial to your survival." With that, he vanished, leaving me alone in the forest.

I stared at the bag, my mind reeling with questions. What was I supposed to do now? And who was this person in the human world? But he had already vanished like a bright light. I held my eyes to shield the ray from blinding me.

Then when I opened them again, I was in a totally different place, I was no longer in the forest, this place looked strange, the smell of antiseptic and the beeping sound of machines.

I tried to get up to have a clear look at the whole surrounding. The whole place was white and empty.

As I stood up, I felt rejuvenated, like a newborn baby, with my strength completely restored. I checked my body for any signs of mistreatment, but to my surprise, I felt invigorated. Could it have been the moon goddess's intervention? I thought.

Just as I was about to take off the rope that was attached to my hands like a prisoner, a man and a lady walked in.

"Hey you are awake! No, don't do that, have your seat." The lady rushed to me, guiding me back to the bed.

"Who are you people and how did I end up here?" I asked as I gave them a stern look. At first I thought to shield myself hoping they were here to hurt me but their calm demeanor made me hold back.

"I am doctor Mark, the one taking care of you since you were rushed in here unconscious by Mr Asher yesterday, thank God you are awake,' the man holding a white board said.

"Who's Mr. Asher?" I shrugged, uninterested. "I don't know, and I don't care. I just want to leave." The man's expression turned sympathetic. "How are you feeling? Any weakness, nausea, or pain?"

I shook my head. "I'm fine. I just want to go home." He nodded. "Alright, you can leave soon. But please wait until Mr. Asher arrives. I'll give him a call. For now, just relax, okay?" With that, he exited the room.

I glanced around, taking in the unfamiliar surroundings. This was the human world, far removed from the pack's dynamics.

My mind wandered to Mr. Asher. Was he the one who'd found me and brought me here? Perhaps he was the person Elder Silas mentioned in my dream. Despite feeling trapped, my curiosity about Mr. Asher kept me seated.

The door swung open, and a tall, imposing figure entered. Was this Mr. Asher? I studied him, trying to read his expression, but his features were inscrutable.

"You're awake, thank God," he said, his eyes filled with genuine concern. I sat quietly, observing him, taken aback by the compassion in his voice. "How are you feeling?" he asked, his tone gentle.

I hesitated, unsure how to respond. This stranger's kindness surprised me, and I found myself wondering if this was what the human world was like. Back in the pack, we'd been warned about the dangers of humans, but this man's behavior suggested otherwise.

"You don't talk?" he asked, breaking the silence. "Well, I checked your bag and went back to where I found you to look for clues about your identity or your people, but I didn't find anything." His gaze drifted to the bag, and I followed his eyes to the familiar pack Elder Silas had given me.

I sat up on the bed, my arms wrapped my chest. The man turned to me, concern etched on his face. "Don't tell me you have no place to go. Or any family or relatives to call?" he asked, curiosity sparkling in his eyes.

The mention of family struck me, how was I going to explain that the family I was coming from never treated me like one, and my sister was the one who caused me to be here right now, Madison I would never forgive her for what she did, what did I ever do to deserve this kind of harsh treatment.

"Yes, I'm a lost girl with nowhere to go." I said putting my head down as reality that I was alone dawned on me.

He was taken aback by my voice, seemingly surprised by its unusual tone. "Oh, so you can talk," he said, a hint of amusement in his voice.

"You don't sound like you're from around here I think, Well I am Asher throne, you can call me Asher," He introduced himself, awaiting my response.

"Benita," I uttered softly, I just didn't know how to explain how I was feeling.

I was in a foreign land but the kind of peace I was having was one I couldn't explain.

I felt a sense of calm wash over me as I looked at him, and I knew instinctively that he was the one Elder Silas had spoken of.

But as our eyes met, fear and uncertainty crept in. What lay ahead? How would I survive in this human world alone, with no experience and no friends?
