Chapter 4

The sound of shattering glass thundered through the ballroom.

Alina couldn't even scream before she collapsed heavily to the floor like a rag doll.

Lucas rushed over and scooped up Alina, who was unconscious.

Her forehead was bloody, and the front of his expensive suit was stained with blood.

"Eve! Have you lost your mind completely?" Lucas roared, and his voice was filled with unprecedented rage and disgust.

Eve looked at him and said word by word, "Yes, I am out of my mind, driven by you and Alina."

Lucas ignored Eve and carried Alina out.

As he passed Eve, he gave her a violent shove. "Get out of the way!"

Caught off guard, Eve stumbled backward.

Her back landed heavily on the shattered glass on the floor. Some sharp pieces pierced her skin instantly. "Ah!"

She curled up in pain, and blood trickled down her arms and back. Her white dress became red.

She and Lucas had dated for five years, and he had never treated her so harshly.

Previously, even if she had a minor scratch, he would be worried about her. But she was completely indifferent when she bled profusely.

People around Eve gasped, but no one dared to intervene.

Lucas didn't spare Eve a glance as he hurriedly exited the ballroom with Alina in his arms.

Eve bit her lip and tried to get on her feet. But she nearly collapsed from the pain.

Just then, two strong arms steadied her.

"Eve." A deep, familiar voice sounded above her head.

She looked up to meet a pair of deep and calm eyes.

It was her fiancé, Samuel.

He draped his suit jacket over her shoulders and covered her disheveled state. Then he lifted her into his arms.

"Let's go." His voice was light yet firm.

Eve leaned against him and was dazed for a moment.

She had always resisted marrying him, but he was the only one to make her feel safe.

Samuel carried her through the crowd

and left behind the venue where she was betrayed and hurt under the shocked and fearful gazes of others.

After Samuel had taken Eve to the hospital, he received a call from his father, who urged Samuel to go over immediately.

He carefully arranged for Eve's hospital stay before leaving in a hurry.

Unexpectedly, Lucas stormed into Eve's hospital room furiously.

Eve frowned, but before she could speak, the police behind Lucas rushed in. They abruptly cuffed her without an explanation.
