Chapter 7 The new servant (II)

LIA BLAKE

"Don't worry, you will get used to it." Ma'am Lucy said as though she read my thoughts. There were some guards guarding the frontage of the different axis of the exquisite buildings.

"He really is the king..." I murmured in awe gaping around the place. My father's house, despite how I usually saw it as one of the finest houses in my pack, was like nothing compared to this beauty.

"Excuse me, we are here to see the king...He is aware of our coming." I heard Ma'am Lucy ask one of the men on duty.

I didn't hear the guard speak but Ma'am Lucy was soon calling out to me.

"Come along girl! The King is waiting."

"Yes ma'am," I mumbled still partly in awe as I took quick long strides to catch up with her. She pushed open the entrance door and we let ourselves in.

The dead silence of the room struck me the moment we stepped in.

A series of portraits and pictures of people I guessed to be legends or perhaps had an impact on the pack hung on the wall.

"This is the throne room, not everyone gets a chance to be here. I'm honoured," Ma'am Lucy whispered, her tone was grazed with a feeling of honour indeed.

It was then I looked straight ahead and rightly was the throne on a slightly elevated portion of the room, higher than the rest of the room. But no one was sitting on it.

In the absolute silence of the room, the sound of heavy commanding thudding came forth from the right section of the room causing both me and ma'am Lucy to pause not just in our tracks but in our thoughts as well.

"Greetings my king," Ma'am Lucy dipped her head the moment the Lycan king appeared.

His face was cold and expressionless.

"Get your head down!" Ma'am Lucy literally pulled on my clothes. "I warned you not to look in the eyes of the king, do you wish to die?" She whispered infuriated.

I muttered a halfhearted apology and dipped my head.

What is so scary about him anyways...they get scared of him easily for nothing...I scoffed inside of me.

"I have brought her to you, the new servant girl as you ordered, my king," ma'am Lucy started after a few seconds of silence. I was dying to raise my face and catch a glimpse of the so-called scary king. I really had to see what exactly scared them from looking in his eyes.

"You may leave." His voice came before I could actually raise my head.

Ma'am Lucy turned and started out of the room.

The instant the door jammed together after ma'am Lucy was out, he started to approach me.

He stopped an inch away from me. My face lowered as I stared down at his shoes. Dark and shiny. I wondered if it was perhaps darker than his heart. I wasn't scared...or so I thought until when he began to speak.

"Don't think you are free because you are not behind the rods of my dungeon..." his thick emotionless voice sounded.

"You have another chance to save yourself now. What is your story? And don't lie to me, I hate liars, I hate to be lied to because when I find out, I never forgive."

I swallowed nervously. I was really beginning to get scared.

Tell him the truth now, Lia...this is your chance!" My wolf urged me again.

What truth? tell him I helped his fiancee escape? No, I can't.

"I...I was..."

I was speaking, trying to gather my story, my lies actually when he gripped my jaw and raised my face up.

"You were what?" He questioned holding my gaze sternly.

I bit my lips together as his strong fingers held onto my now stiffened jaw.

His eyes narrowed and I swear I saw his eyes linger on my lips amidst briefly before he held my gaze again, this time with a provoked frown. "Don't bite your lips in my presence." He warned coldly and quickly let go of my jaw and in a flash he turned his back to me. "And you must keep your distance from me."

My teeth clenched hard and I shot his sturdy cold back a challenging look.

"I can't look at your face. I am not allowed to be in the same space with you. What next? I shouldn't breathe too?!" I almost blurted out in anger but instead I bit my lips. I made sure he didn't see that.

"Tell me all I should know about you. If you are going to be my bait and act as my wife, I should know something about you..." he said.

"I am Lia..."

"No!!! You can't tell him about you!" My wolf screeched. "You are going to tell him you are from a different pack?! A werewolf for that matter?! Think again, Lia!"

Oh shit! My wolf saved me at that moment. It would have been a disaster telling him my father was an Alpha of a different pack.

I was sure he wouldn't be a fan of werewolves. It was the same for all Lycans. They always believed we werewolves to be below them. How dare I mention my identity as a Werewolf before a Lycan king?

My wolf was right, I shouldn't do that.

"Have you lost your mouth?! I asked a question!" The growl of the Lycan king roared and I jarred out of my thoughts.

"My name is Lia Smith and...and I lost my family since I was young. I used to live with my aunt but one day I was brutally wounded and I lost my memories. I ended up in the streets and have been managing to live by...until I woke up in a strange room clothed with a wedding dress..."

I finished my story. He didn't move nor gave any reaction. My story must have sounded very believable

My poor father, he wouldn't believe his daughter would name him dead when he was alive and breathing fine. I'm sorry, father, forgive me...

"Then, what clan are you from?" He asked.

"Urh...Clan?" I muttered in confusion as I realised the loophole in my perfect story. I knew the Lycans had clans but I hadn't really put interest in learning any of them. Who knew I would be facing their king?

He walked towards me and stopped before me.

"Ah, I guess you must have forgotten that too while you lost your memory...

"Ah, it seems like..." I chuckled nervously. I felt my hand all sweaty and sticky. Who would have believed I could lie that easily.

He stared hard at me for a few seconds. Then he sniffed the air as if trying to sense my identity.

I held back my breathing and hoped that was enough to hide my werewolf scent.

His eyes squinted at me in a suspicious manner and he peered seriously at me.

Oh dear moon goddess, save your daughter one more time...I prayed silently.

He suddenly stopped sniffing the air and let out a crooked chuckle and then asked me.

"Really? You don't remember your clan but you remember your name so well?"

He questioned cynically.

Fear gripped my heart and for a split second I knew I had been caught. Fuvk!

My lips quivered and I stumbled for the right words.

I wasn't sure he had caught me yet, still I couldn't tell if he had noticed I was lying to him or not.

"I..."

"Fine. You are Lia Smith, no parents, no relatives... We will go with that. You are just a bait after all. Five days from today, I will make you my wife and Luna before every member of this pack..." he said and paused for a little while.

Then his eyes lit up. "I will specially invite every Alpha and every werewolf from every pack. They would grace my wedding...who knows, your sponsor could be there too...oh how pleased they would be when they see you walking down the aisle as my wife...."

Inviting all the Alphas meant my father would be there as well. My jaw tightened as the thought of him seeing his daughter in a wedding dress had goosebumps crawling down me. Shit!

"Now I have my rules..." he halted in his words and faced me squarely. The beam in his eyes vanished and he faced me squarely. His eyes were covered with nothing but coldness. His next words feared me.

"You only take my orders and be sure to remember, you are nothing but a servant to me..."

"I know...I am only allowed to be your wife before the people and once we are within this wall I am to be nothing more than your servant..." I said, masking the pain that came alongside those words.

"Yes, you are already in character and I love that." He grinned pleasantly.

"If that's all, may I be excused now?" I asked suddenly feeling the great need to not be in his face anymore. His repulsive self made me cringe.

"That will be all for now. You may leave."

I turned around and started to leave resisting the urge to cuss him out.

"One more thing,"

I heard him say behind me and slowly I turned towards him again.

"Lia Smith, I should let you know that I have sent out my men in search of Laura. You better be right about not knowing anything about her disappearance." He said and shot me a cynical look.

I didn't say a word as I turned around again and hurried out of the place.

My chest was hammering against my chest and I heaved out a sigh of relief once I was out the door.

I was safe yet again for that moment but only time would tell how long I would remain safe. In a strange land filled with Lycans waiting to devour a Werewolf like myself, I knew I was in a serious danger. The worst thing about it all is I didn't see myself leaving alive. I was in a pit that had no possible way of escape for me.

At the same time, the pit of my stomach grumbled noisily. The worms in them were fully awake and were demanding to be filled up.
