Chapter 5 Five. Moonfang's Elite Celebration (The arrival)

Five. Moonfang's Elite Celebration (The arrival)

Vernon:

"Were you waiting all these time? Did you anticipate this" Orin asked me as soon as we entered into my study. I spared him a glance and smirked.

I settled down on the couch, taking out another cigarette stick and lighting it up. I took a long drag from it. Orin sat opposite me

"What if I say I did?"

"I would believe you. That's more like you Vern".

I let out a deep chuckle. "She's a bluestorm Orin. Though that's not the most reason I need her, that's part of it".

"Then, why didn't you let Mr. Betfang on, when the evil was still in the works?"

I scoffed. "Who would believe the words of a rogue? That would have been worse if they found out we communicated".

"But it's still no different".

"You're right. It's no different. There's always been strife in that place, and now Rae has been caught up in their schemes".

"If the bluestorm isn't your main goal, then what is Vern?"

I looked at him, a slight smile crossing my lips. "I don't know myself. Maybe, her heart? It's vengeful at the moment and that's a very important criteria in revenge".

"Aren't you a bad one Vern?" Orin chuckled.

I just shrugged and leaned into the couch. "It's almost evening. How's the tux coming along?"

"Thea's working on it".

"And the person we placed beside Rae?"

"They'll meet tomorrow".

"Good. Then, let's just hope, she makes the right decision".

Ravena:

The day for the Moonfang elite celebration finally arrived. I hurried with my morning rituals as the Omegas had limited time to prepare. We were the ones serving the guests.

As I got ready to step in line with the rest of the Omegas, Vernon's words kept dancing in my mind. His smirk, his eyes and his...well everything, haunted me. Even in my dreams. Was this also a part of the deal?

"Today's the annual celebration of the pack and we must make it exceptional and up to standard! Better than every year. No flopping, do you hear me?!" The scrawny woman yelled at the top of her lungs.

"Yes ma'am!"

"Alright, let's go! Everyone move it! Your sections have been distributed to you. Make sure you do well!"

"Yes!"

I fiddled with my toes as I thought of how to go about today. Aside Vernon's words, I missed my parents. Today was always a happy day in my life. We stayed together. Roberts comes over, we eat, drink and remained happy. To think, something like that would end just in a flash.

"Hi there" someone said to me.

I raised my head and was met with a blond. I arched a brow.

"And you're?"

"Tania. I'm your assistant for today's work".

"Okay" was all I said and kept walking forward.

She walked beside me, not saying anything.

"What are you up to? Were you also sent by then to frame me too?" I snapped.

"No...why would you think that?"

I looked at her, annoyance flipping my tummy upside down. "Nothing. Just don't act all friendly with me. We're not close"

"I got it" she replied.

You got what?! What the....

I didn't bother about her and hastened to join the crew. I had just entered the arena when Velora and her minions walked up to me, their faces a twisted grin. I rolled my eyes in disbelief.

"What do you guys want again?" I spat out. I was already having a bad day about this Tania girl hovering around me.

"Nothing. It's just...better watch your back, today can get really messy".

I gave a small smile. "It's already messy with the three of your talking to me. Can it get any worse?"

"You--" Velora swore.

"Hey, you can't actually do anything to me. Just so you know. So, take your hoodlums with you and leave me alone!"

"Okay. Keep being a bitch. I hope Miss Nyxfang treats you well later" Velora said and left with her group.

Cassandra, what will you be up to today? What other tricks do you have up your damn sleeve?

I didn't nestle so much on the thought as Vernon's words kept coming to my mind. What do I say to him? Today was my last chance. Do I take his hand? Or drop it?

The event finally started and everyone was at their post. All the elites I have ever dined with were at the scene, including all those guys that asked me out on most occasions. If anything, I just wanted the ground to open and swallow me. But, I have to be strong. Mom said so.

"Wow...Ravena?" A male voice came from behind. I swallowed and turned to greet him.

"Good day sir"

"Wow...what the..."

I sneered at him in my heart. What a pretentious bastard you are. This was one of Roberts's friends. Dylan Ashwood.

"Has Rob seen you? How did he let you get to this point?" He was mocking me but made it look like he was concerned.

I didn't reply, rather, a polite smile was what I gave him as an answer.

"Now that you're here... do you mind accepting my proposal? You look like you need to be picked up..." he grinned. My eyes slanted to a dark line, wishing I can just snap him in two.

"Easy Dylan, you're gonna scare her off. You know, mommy and daddy aren't here to give her a hand" another person chimed in. This was also one of Roberts friends, Adrian Lycfang, though Roberts didn't really like him. The four of us, and two other guys, always hung out together. However, I knew that they were all bunch of deceits, well except Roberts of course, till two days ago.

"Sirs, your chairs have been prepared, why don't you two go and take them?" the blondie that was next to me said. I looked at her.

"And, who do you think you are to talk to us? Huh?" Adrian stepped forward to grab her but I stepped in front, blocking his path.

"Don't you think you have had enough fun, Mr. Lycfang?"

He smirked at me, and grabbed me, his hands reaching for my butt. I tried knocking him off but he just seemed so strong. He groped me, squeezing it so hard that my eyes stung.

"You should know your place now Rav. You're not with us anymore".

"Why? Because I didn't let you fuck me? Traitorous friend" I fired back.

He let out a scoff. "You think Roberts still gives a shit? Wake up from your delusions babe".

"And what the hell is going on here?!" A low growl was heard, halting every action. It was the Alpha's voice. Adrian quickly let go.

He looked from me to Dylan, his gaze dark. "This is not a brothel. Take your stupidity somewhere else" he berated. He gave me another look before going to take his seat. Roberts was with him as well together with Cassandra and her family.

However, she suddenly stopped beside me, placing her palm on my shoulder.

"You can't handle it?" I heard Cassandra's voice behind my ear. I wanted to turn but she held me still, burying her nails deep into my skin. I swallowed.

"You can't handle it can you?" Her voice was taunting.

"The show is quite enjoyable for you isn't it Cass?" I asked her.

"Hey, we're not of the same class now, so you better watch your tone. I can create a situation for you and you would be stuck there till you breathe your last".

"I don't care. Quit being a skank and move to your spot, her highness" I mocked.

Her grip tightened around my arm and I clenched my teeth to squash the pain. This bitch!

"Sure I will" she said and released my arm. She smoothened the creases on my dress and smiled at me. That smile didn't make me feel good at all.

"And you will serve me till I'm satisfied"

"Cassandra"

Oh yes! If that's not Julio Nyxfang.

"Dad" she said and turned around to look at the Beta that had just arrived.

"What are you doing there? Stop playing around and take your place".

"Yes Dad" she said and walked away with her retinue.

The assistant Beta turned his gaze towards me and our eyes clashed. My eyes burned with no emotion but the look in his eyes, incited a feeling of foreboding within me. We said nothing to each other.

After he was done looking, he walked away.

Whatever.

The celebration began. The Alpha was here, Betas, elites were still coming in. But there was still no sign of Vernon. He said he would get my answer today, but he was nowhere to be found. Perhaps, the whole deal stuff, was a bluff. He wasn't really coming.

"You waiting for someone?" Tania asked.

"Why do you care? You seem to be so interested in my business".

She shrugged. "Thanks for stepping in anyways, for me".

"Yeah... whatever" I shrugged, trying to keep my mind clear when Tania's sudden shout dragged my eyes to the side.

"Wow...who the heck...is that?"

And there he was. Vernon Draven. He was clad in an aux blood colored suit that was tailored to the nines, leaving no error whatsoever. His hair was slicked back neatly, showing off his piercings which I failed to notice yesterday. He was a sight to see.

"That's...Vernon Draven".

I must have looked too much because he suddenly turned in my direction, our eyes clashing. His gaze, I found unreadable while mine...was already unraveling. I swallowed, ignoring the feeling erupting within the walls of my chest.

"This guy's, a mess" I muttered under my breath.

"Omega Betfang!" someone's voice rang out. I looked forward. And Cassandra's eyes was looking at me.

"Why don't you come and pour me a drink?"
