Isabella's pov
My eyelids peeled open and I found myself in bed, a wave of relief crashed against me.
It had all been a dream, well, more accurately a nightmare. Of course, it's only in my imagination that such a thing could possibly happen–
"You're finally awake," A cold, sharp voice pierced through my ear.
I turned around to see a silver haired stranger, seated and staring right at me.
With a clenched fist I rubbed my eyes hard, but when I was done he was still there coolly observing me with his scrutinizing gaze.
"W-who are you?"
"Someone who would be sleeping right now, if it wasn't for you..." he breezily stepped towards me, and placed his large palm over my forehead faster than I could react.
"Your temperature seems to be normal now...oh wait, it's going up again..."
I bolted away from him to the corner of my bed.
"Don't touch me!" I screamed, breathing heavily. He looked unphased and just went back to the chair. Offering nothing, no explanation as to what happened last night or how he was in my room, why just nothing.
It didn't look like he was going to harm me, at least not now.
"Did they catch the intruder last night?"
I asked, and after giving me the longest stare he replied; "Yeah, all of them,"
All? There were more than one? So if I had step further into the woods I would have probably been surrounded?
The thought that my window of escape had been so small last night, made me tremble. I couldn't clearly remember last night. I think I had called for help before passing out but everything was a blur after that.
This man in front of me was of no help, who was he anyways? He wasn't bothered enough to introduce himself or why he had been watching me sleep. On the floor was a metallic bowl with a soak towel in it.
I think he said I had a fever last night, was he a doctor? Gosh, I'd wish he'd–
"Prince Lucas!"
My door was nearly thrown off it's hinges as the Alpha barged in, my eyes zeroed in on the silver haired male who reacted to the Alpha's desperate call with a groan.
He-he was one of the princes?! Does that mean...last night...?
"Thank the goddess, Isabella, you are awake. Do you know the chaos you've caused since last night?
The prince stood up, his full height somewhat menacing to look at.
"Fill her in, I'll be back to check up on her after speaking with my brothers,"
After that he left without even sparing me a glance, as the door closed behind him my eyes drifted back to the Alpha who had collapsed on the chair that the prince had been sitting on a moment ago.
The prince...just thinking that a member of the royal family had been seated so casually across from me, and I had screamed that he was an intruder, made my heart sink into a pit.
"Alpha Harold, what's going on?" I asked him but the power man looked more confused than I was.
"A lot has happened since last night, Isabella, they were some rogues that broke in through our defense, but all of them have been taken care of,"
"Just rogues?"
He looked at me with a puzzle expression, "Did you see anyone else last night?"
I did, but how could they have missed such a large wolf? He didn't smell like a rogue so why was he stained in blood? Why had he been chasing after me like I stole something from him?
Whatever, I'm sure that the warriors were still combing through the woods, he had either run away or would soon be caught.
"What about the prince?" I asked fearfully, "Is he waiting for me to recover before we sever the bond?"
Even though I couldn't understand what was happening right now, at least I should plan for my future right?
"Alpha Harold, if you could request for it to be...a private affair then...I would be really grateful,"
Alpha Harold looked constipated when I mentioned the first prince, he began to fiddle with his fingers and avoid my eyes.
"Actually, he doesn't want to sever out the bond, Isabella," he informed me, bringing me up to speed.
"That's impossible," I said, moving to the side of the bed and sitting there with my legs touching the floor.
"Hasn't anyone told him that I...I'm...?" I didn't have enough strength in me to say the words that had been flung at my face for years without breaking down.
"Well, doesn't he know?"
Alpha Harold spoke, "I didn't want to air out your dirty laundry like that to a member of the royal family so I didn't exactly tell him,"
The little bit of hope that had began to bubble inside of my chest immediately popped when he said that, what was I foolishly hoping to hear? That a man who was desired by hundreds if not thousands of she wolves was going to hear that I had been tainted and still want me as his mate?
Even if that had never happened, I was at the rank of an Omega after being kicked out by my Beta family. It was unheard of, for the Lycan royal family to even consider low status Alpha daughters as their mate much less someone like me.
I was setting myself up for heartbreak, if I expected anything else but rejection. Suddenly I was overwhelmed with tiredness and turned back to my bed, when the door was thrown open even more violently than when the alpha had stepped in a while ago.
The face of the one inside my room was familiar, etched with a fury I had not seen in years. She marched towards me like an angry elephant. Her Uncle tried to hold her back but she slapped his hand away and kept her blazing eyes on me.
"Isabella, we need to talk."
