Chapter 19 The Quiet Flame

Years passed not in rushes or thunder, but like rain smoothing stone.

Thornwick Hall changed slowly.

The land around it softened. Grass grew thick over the old scorch marks. Ivy returned to the outer pillars. Birds came back to nest in the upper eaves. For the first time in living memory, the estate felt... lived in.

And alive.
