Chapter 2 His Eyes Lied

Dante Moretti didn't trust easily.

But the girl in red with fire in her eyes... she was different. Dangerous.

"You shouldn't be here," he said.

"I came to dance," Alina answered, stepping closer. "Unless the great Dante Moretti is afraid of a woman?"

He smirked. "Only the smart ones."

The music thundered in her ears, but all she could hear was her father's voice:

"The Moretti family is poison, Alina. If they ever come near you-run."

But she wasn't running anymore.

"Dance with me," she said.

And he did.

He took her by the waist like he owned her.

Held her close like she was his next secret.

And for a second, she almost forgot why she came.

Until she saw the tattoo - a black dagger with blood dripping from it.

It matched the one on the man who killed her father.

The man who stood beside Dante the night it happened.

Her blood ran cold.

She smiled.

And whispered in Dante's ear:

"I'm going to make you fall in love with me... then destroy everything you built."

He paused.

"What did you say?" he asked.

Alina pulled back and smiled sweetly. "Nothing, Mr. Moretti."

But in her heart, she knew...

The game had just begun.
