Chapter 5 The Angelic Beast

ALLISON.

I couldn't breathe as I watched the man bathing in the lake, his gorgeous pare of amber orbs looking at me as if I'm the only one he could see right now. His platinum hair danced in the wind, catching the sunlight like spun silver. The man looked absolutely dashing as the water dripped from his sculpted body, glistening against the golden ray of the setting sun. He looked as angelic as the last time I saw him. Holy shit. I can't be mistaken; this was one of the guys that I slept with during the Howling Night!

Is this the goddess' way of messing with me?

"I can't believe my luck," the man said, amusement evident in his voice. "I didn't expect to see you here!"

The man stared at me in total disbelief as if I was a walking-floating miracle in the lake! He started to approach and I gasped as lake's surface, the only thing that was covering his body, slowly slipped out of his waist, revealing his naked glory.

"Oh goddess! Can you put your freaking clothes on?!" I said, panicking.

He chuckled. ""It's not something you haven't seen before, right?"

Oh my goddess, is this man serious? My face burned even more. I bit my lips and looked away, trying to hide my flushed cheeks. "I mean, seriously! Just-put something on!"

Seeing my embarrassment, he softened. "Sorry, I was just joking. It's good to see you again, though-especially in such an unexpected situation."

"Oh? U-Uhm, I think you're mistaken. We've never met before," I stammered. Damn. I couldn't even play it cool when he was right there, lazily dragging his pants and getting dressed in front of me as if it was nothing. On the other hand, here I am, a panic away from having a heart attack!

He finished dressing and took a step closer, which made me instinctively step back. He took another step forward and I stepped back once again but this time, my back hit a tree. He tilted his head and smile before pushing his knuckles against the tree behind me, locking me in between his arms. My pulse quickened as he leaned in, his nose almost touching mine. The intensity of his gaze sent shivers down my spine.

"You can't lie to me," he whispered, his breath warm against my skin. "I can still smell my scent all over you."

His sensual whisper tickled a memory within me, something that I desperately tried to bury-a memory of our encounter during the Howling Night...

His lips found mine, kissing it, devouring every inch of my lips as if he was a hungry beast. I moaned against his mouth when I felt his fingers rubbing my nipples, pinching it playfully while his tongue danced with mine.

"Ahh...!" I moaned, my toes curling in bliss as I felt Liam's hot breath on my thighs, spreading his slopping kisses across my skin. A hint of pain flashed in his eyes when he noticed that I tried to avoid his touch. I bit my lips, embarrassed. I didn't mean to be rude but I have a feeling that if I let him touch me again, I'm not sure if I would be able to stop myself from going further. Shit.

"Look, I-" I started, but the words caught in my throat. The space between us felt electric. It was the same feeling I felt with Liam earlier. I didn't know what it was but it certainly felt overwhelming... and dangerous.

Why did he have to be so close?

I rolled my eyes, trying to brush off the embarrassment I was feeling earlier. "You're cute but I can't say I remember you from anywhere."

He raised an eyebrow and as the corner of his lips curved into a playful smirk. "Oh, so you think I'm cute, huh?" he whispered huskily.

"W-Well, that's not the point!" I quaked.

Why is he making this so difficult? My heart raced even faster, betraying my attempt to stay indifferent. "W-Well, that's not the point!" I quaked, trying to maintain my composure despite my pounding heart.

His smile widened, and he leaned in even closer, his lips almost touching my ear as he whispered. "You're lying, but that's okay. I won't hold it against you." The teasing in his voice made my skin tingle. Damn.

Get it together, Allison! I mentally scolded myself, but the heat rising in my cheeks told a different story. "Seriously, you probably got the wrong person!" I protested weakly, my voice barely above a whisper.

He chuckled softly, clearly amused by my denial. "You really don't remember? We had a fun night together and you seemed to enjoy it too. I remembered you were screaming, moaning, and begging for me to out my cock insi-"

I quickly slapped my palm on his mouth to shut him up. I was breathing heavily, almost panicking. Hearing him say those words so casually made me feel some weird things! His amber eyes twinkled and I swear I could feel him smiling through my palm. This brute!

"F-Fine! Fine. I remember you. Happy?" I hissed, my cheeks still beet red.

"Listen, I'm just here to enjoy some peace and quiet," I said, trying to sound casual, but my voice cracked. "I didn't ask for... for this. Or to be reminded of anything that happened that night!

The man grabbed my wrist and softly removed my hand from his lips. I was right, he was smiling!

"Neither did I. I just happened to past by and noticed this nice lake. I thought I could try for a swim. I didn't actually expect to see you here. But I'm glad fate brought us together again."

The universe does have a unique way of fucking me over.

"I'm Daniel Harris, by the way. We didn't really get the chance to introduce ourselves last time."

I fell quiet, the name echoing in my mind. Daniel Harris... why do I feel like I have heard that name before? Wait, hang on... My eyes widened when something in my mind clicked. Daniel Harris! He was a famous alpha in Missouri, comparable to Liam Miller's strength and influence. Damn, how could I miss it? His angelic features said it all...

"Daniel Harris... The Angelic Beast! You're the Alpha of the Crimson Fangs Pack!" I asked in disbelief.

I slept with the Alpha of the Crimson Fangs Pack... and Moon Stone Pack! Oh, damn.

He chuckled, scratching the back of his neck, a hint of embarrassment coloring his cheeks. "Yeah, that's me. But that moniker is a bit childish, don't you think?"

I blinked, trying to wrap my head around it. "Well, it kinda suit you in a weird way."

He was dubbed with that moniker because of his seemingly angelic features but fearsome strength in battle. In the world where Alphas blatantly expressed their ruthless side, Daniel Harris was a bit unique. While the likes of Liam Miller appeared as ruthless as they actually were, Daniel looked like an angel, as if he couldn't hurt a fly. But looks can be deceiving because this man could tear you to shreds if he wanted to. I can't believe I've met the two most notorious Alphas in the state within a day!

"What are you doing near our pack's territory, anyway?" I asked, curious.

"Well, I'm actually investigating something," he replied.

"What exactly are you investigating?"

"It's about the-"

Before Daniel could finish his sentence, a sudden rustling in the nearby bushes made us both freeze. My heart raced as I exchanged a quick glance with Daniel.

"Did you hear that-"

Daniel quickly grabbed me, his warm hand covering my mouth as we both crouched beneath a shrub. "Shh. Stay quiet," he whispered to me. It was like I was looking to a completely different person. I nodded, wide-eyed.
