Chapter 3 Pranked And Provoked

As Raymond's grip tightened around her arm, Mikaela's fear spiked. But just as she was about to panic, Raymond's expression shifted, and he burst out laughing.

"Gotcha!" he exclaimed, releasing her arm.

It turned out he was just testing her, trying to see how she'd react under pressure.

The hidden camera, it seemed, was part of Raymond's security system, but he had also been using it to observe Mikaela's reaction. He wanted to gauge her response to the mysterious message and the meeting setup.

Mikaela felt a mix of relief and annoyance. She was relieved to be safe, but annoyed that she'd been pranked.

"You're a bit of a sadist, aren't you?" she said, trying to keep her cool.

Raymond chuckled, seeming to enjoy the banter. "Maybe a little," he admitted.

"But I needed to know if you're someone I can trust."

Mikaela raised an eyebrow. "And now that you know I'm not going to faint or scream, are you satisfied?"

Raymond smiled, his eyes glinting with amusement.

"Let's just say I'm intrigued. You're not like most people, Mikaela."

With that, the tension dissipated, and Mikaela felt like she could breathe again.

But she couldn't help wondering what other surprises lay in store for her in this complex game of cat and mouse with her enigmatic boss.

The following day, mikaela was bored sitting in a chair for about three hours.

"Jeez, is this what a secretary does?"

"No, but Mr Williams thinks you are too dumb to do what a secretary does," Jason said.

She held her lips. She didn't know she said that out loud.

"Then am I done for the day?" She asked.

"Not even close, you are meant to close the same time as everyone and I will teach you more on your job starting tomorrow or the boss might fire you."

He said.

"No please I will be a fast learner, I promise."

She said with pleading eyes.

"Hope so."

He walked away.

Mikaela nodded and stood up, feeling a bit relieved. She followed Jason to his desk and started to learn more about her job.

But she couldn't shake off the feeling that she was in for a tough ride with Raymond as her boss.

As the day wore on, Mikaela found herself getting more and more frustrated with Raymond's demands.

She was starting to feel like she was nothing more than a personal servant to him.

During closing hours, Mikaela was in the parking lot, and she saw Raymond going into his car.

"Sir can I come with you, I will come down at the Law firm."

She said trying to open the door.

"You are my secretary, you don't expect me to be your driver, get away from my car," he got in a drove off.

"F**k you."

She yelled at his car...

"F**k the boss.?"

It was Jason again.

"Mr Evans are you a ghost, why are you everywhere?"

She tried to change the topic.

"Ray can be a d**k at times,"

Jason said knowing what she was trying to do.

"Worse than that he is a bas.."

She stopped and looked at Jason

"I wanted to ask if he is good at basketball."

Jason burst into laughter.

"Come I will drop you off at home." He said walking to his car.

"At least there is a human in this company," she said silently running after him.

They talked a lot on the way to her house, but not about Raymond, Mikaela was the one bringing all the gist.

She found herself laughing and joking with Jason, feeling more at ease with him than she had with anyone in a long time.

She was surprised by how much they had in common, from their love of music to their passion for their work.

As they pulled up to her apartment, Mikaela felt a pang of disappointment that the ride was over.

The car pulled over near her apartment. As soon as she came down from the car, someone rushed to her, nearly knocking her off balance.

"Babe, I was waiting for you for like forever!" Olivia exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

Mikaela's eyes turned to meet Jason's, and she felt a flutter in her chest as their gazes locked.

"He is my senior in the office, and she is my best friend," Mikaela said, trying to sound casual despite the sudden tension.

Olivia stretched out her hand, and Jason took it, his eyes scanning her from head to toe.

"Jason," he said, his voice low and smooth.

"Olivia," she said stretching her hand to him.

She was really pretty and dyed her hair orange, she was in a hot outfit.

"I will have to go now, see you in the office Miss Trouble." He waved and got into his car.

"Mika what are you not telling me, you got a rich guy on the first day.?" She asked as they walked inside.

"Who said I like him?", Mikaela asked.

"Don't worry, I've got him covered; my people are keeping tabs on him," Olivia said, implying she had a network of informants watching his every move, ensuring she stayed one step ahead.

Her voice dripped with confidence. She leaned in, a sly smile spreading across her face.

"I know everything about everyone, especially the rich and handsome ones."

Mikaela raised an eyebrow, intrigued by Olivia's network.

"Then we're both watching the same show," Mikaela said with a sly smile, her eyes glinting with mischief.

Olivia's eyes sparkled with excitement. "I love a good romance, and you and Jason would make a great couple."

Mikaela rolled her eyes, but she couldn't help the flutter in her chest. "Was it possible that she and Jason could be more than just colleagues?", she thought as Olivia altered the words.

Just then, Olivia's phone buzzed, and she glanced at the screen, her expression turning serious... "Mika, I think we need to talk about something else. Something big."
