THE UNLIKELY

EVA'S POV
I woke up at the right side of my bed this morning. Not only was there a possibility of a new job, I thought about something interesting. I could save up my salary to get a new house, and we can finally move out from dad and his intoxicating aura.
I hurriedly prepared my siblings for school with lunch in their boxes, and I wasn't sure of my returning time. I hurriedly did all this to avoid my last job's saga. I was determined to make a change in my punctual life. I wasn't going to be chased again cos of a time issue.
I got to Mama Raymu's house before 8 a.m., something that would've saved me my job, I thought.
"Eva, you're early. Why the rush?"
She asked concerned, she wasn't even ready, and neither was she done with preparing her kids for school.
"Nothing, Ma, I'm just optimistic about everything, I feel scared too. What if I don't get picked ?
I said, trying to hear some reassuringly words again.
"Dont worry about it. Miss P is my older sister, and she won't dare say no. You're forgetting i linked your mum to this job. It's all settled, don't worry."
I smiled and did a victory dance after these soothing words. I smiled as I watched her tidy up her house. A few days ago, I was devastated about life with no light at the end of my tunnel. But now I'm all optimistic and expectant. I'm seeing rays in my tunnel.
The ride to the Damaero's was short and smooth, and tho i was agitated again, I learned to keep calm. My jaw dropped when I saw the mansion I was going to work in. What people said about it did no justice to it at all. It was gigantic and building. It's probably the biggest mansion she had ever seen.
Will they really let her work here ?
She felt more unsure about it. She instantly became dirty and was scared of walking on the ground.
"Come on, Eva, stop being dramatic.let's go."
I followed till the fate where she was stopped
"We're looking for Miss P," Mama Raymu said, describing her sister in the simplest way possible.
"Who are you to her? The security man asked. there were many outside the mansion, and it was just like a community of them.
"She's my sister."
We'll confirm, they said and went inside to place a call.
"Top notch security," I said within me.
It wasn't long they came to let us in. Someone led us inside, and through the court yard, it was magnificent.
"It'll be an opportunity to work as a maid here."
We waited in the visitor's room as Miss P came to meet us.
I stood up to greet her immediately she got to us, going down in humility. She didn't react. She just stared at me with contempt.
"Can I have a moment with my sis?" I heard and moved to the next place immediately as I watched them both deliberate on my behalf.
Miss P didn't look nice to me, I loved to study people's reactions. But who cares? A little strictness is required to oversee the workers in a mansion.
After what looked like a year, I was called upon, aside tho.
" I've spoken to her. She has agreed. I told her you are vast in a lot of chores options. Don't panic. Just do whatsoever you're asked to do. My sis can be a bit strict at times, but you'll be fine. You'll discuss your salary with her, I'm definite is more than what you received at the restaurant. You'll be fine, okay?"
I nodded and thanked her as I watched her leave.
"If you're done looking like a fool, you should get yourself inside," Miss P angrily.
I knew it, she wasn't a good person, I followed her inside.
She ranted about how she didn't want help, but her sister kept insisting I'll be a good one. She doesn't trust my guts and face, but she'll give me a benefit of doubt.
WRITER'S POV
Sophie gasped as she stared at her reaction in the mirror. This was the third time she had given herself another pattern of makeup, and she thinks this one suits her better. She wanted to look all beautiful for Fred, and she hoped he recognized her effort for him.
She wasn't stupid. She knew when a man was head over heels for her and when he's not. From what she has noticed, Fred feels nothing. But what's her deal?
Rome wasn't built in a day. She was confident that he was going to fall hopelessly in love with her. She had loved Fred ever since they were kids. They've never exceeded the "hi" conversations in school and at home parties. She wished she had spoken up about her feelings. But all is not lost.Fred was going to love her at all cost.
She had pressured her mum, and a marriage deal was bound to happen. She couldn't wait to have Fred to herself. She did her final touch to her looks and walked out.
Fred watched her as she walked in. He signaled her as she walked to their table. He was earlier than normal today. He didn't want a repetition of what happened the last time. She went home reporting him to her parents after saying she was okay. Well, he was wrong and to be blamed.
"Hello, Sophie," He said as he got up n gave her a hug
"Hello." Sophie replied, beaming with smiles.
"You're looking beautiful," Fred complimented truthfully.
This was all she ever wanted. Her efforts worked, and he noticed her.
"Thank you so much, I'm glad you liked it."
It was not long after they settled into their meals. Sophie was been chatty and jolly, enjoying every bit of the outing. Fred was as bored as always. He was actually tired of listening to her modeling gossips and he wanted something better.
He was glad when the waiter came close to take the payments, that meant they could finally go home.
"I've added a little tip to the transfer. You can use it for yourself." Fred said to the beautiful waitress
"Thank you so much." she said happily
Sophie was disgusted at it and felt irritated. Why would Fred flirt with another woman in her presence. she had tried to keep calm and go with the flow despite his boring replies and constant oblivious acts. She wanted this conversation so badly, that's why she's here. She tried to suppress her attitude, but she couldn't .
"Fred, why will you do that?" She said in a high tone
Fred reacted, surprised
"What happened ??"
"You want to tell me you didn't realize you were flirting with the waitress??"
Sophie was getting agitated.
"No, I just gave her a tip, I do that all the time," Fred defended
"Wow, you flirting with peasants. I'll make sure to ring your mum about this. I'm here in my presence.."
Fred was taken aback. He has never seen this shade of her.
"I dony understand, do you own me??" He asked calmly.
"You'll ring my mum. Is that a threat??? I'm i to react to it?"
"Suit yourself," She said and left in anger. She sat in her car furiously, waiting for a call or a text apology, but she saw none. She knew she was rash today. She'll apologize later.
Fred left feeling unhappy about everything. His parents were going to scold him today for it. But when has it been wrong to give a tip. He should've known she wouldn't be any better than his dictatorship parents. They were birds of a feather after all.
