Chapter 6 The beast chose me

As we assembled the floor, I looked around carefully, noting where everyone was.

The beast was right at the center on his throne.

His brown hair was long and silky. His deep brown eyes held a calculating gaze.

With a tight-lipped and stern expression, he watched each of us prudently.

There were some men and guards, standing by his side.

We stood on our toes, with our ankle jewelries which clanked as we moved.

My eyes scanned the whole hall. There were lots of guests, Lycans actually, seated and watching us.

With curls of distress in my features, I looked around as everyone cackled, and drank.

Anytime soon, the Great Dance would begin, and I was starting to get a cold-feet.

"Ladies, assemble!" Knight Linda ordered and we all gathered together.

"Remember this is your last chance to be among the five chosen mates for the beast. Those five will be the ones to compete onwards till the beast gets to choose that one person that is ideal for his mate. I want you to give it your all."

"Yes Lady Linda," We all chorused together.

My eyes scanned the area as we formed up, trying to find an ideal location. I knew I had to do something different to catch the beast's attention.

We were also told the rules.

All I needed to do was to get the beast to throw his piece of cloth towards me and the four others who would be selected as his mate. Not mate per se, but getting picked here meant we were qualified for the next stage.

I wasn't interested in being his mate; instead, I was only curious to know more about him and unravel the mysteries in the four walls of this kingdom.

The bell dinged, with the orchestra playing the music we had rehearsed to.

In our dancing costumes, we spun around, exposing our stomachs. I was going to take full advantage of it, swaying as the harlots in my pack did.

Our waists were thrown towards the beast as soon as we parted ways, our legs jingling our anklets. We followed Lady Morgana's instructions exactly, practicing the same motion with our shoulders.

The minute the dance ended, the remaining 19 girls, including Hazel, laid in submission.

But as the beat continued, I took a leap of fate to dance just from the middle.

I grinned as I slowly twisted my stomach and threw my waist in the direction of the beast. My hands went from the middle of my breasts to my collarbone as I stared into his dark brown eyes.

Next, my legs widened and I slowly settled on my toe. Coming back up, I turned back directing my ass towards him. My hand came directly at the waistline of my dance skirt as I made an illusion of removal.

When the beast, Lycan Xavier, smiled, I knew I had gained his attention.

From the beats the orchestra made, which I had studied, I knew they were about to end.

Slowly, I connected to the floor just at the middle, in submission.

With my two hands outstretched, I got nothing from the beast. Rather, I only heard claps from the audience after my dance performance.

As I wondered what was going to happen next, my heart pounded.

I was almost giving up until I felt the piece of cloth on my hands.

My eyes widened.

The beast had just thrown it to me.
