Chapter 4 SUMMONED BY ALPHA KLAUS

PENELOPE

I entered my room and sat on the edge of my bed, trying to make sense of everything that had just happened.

"No, no," I repeated over and over, tears falling freely from my eyes.

**Knock**

Who could that be? Is it Alpha Klaus?

The knock came again, firmer this time.

I took a deep breath and went to open the door, only to find Amira standing there.

"What do you want?" I asked, sniffing. I wasn't in the mood for any of her silly talk.

"Hey, you," Amira said as she stepped inside, pinching her nose with her fingers as she walked past me.

I quietly closed the door behind her and turned to face her.

"What do you want? I have had enough for one day and I'm not in the mood to exchange words with you."

"You're not in the mood, yet you had the audacity to show your cursed, ugly face to Alpha Klaus and now he actually believes you're his mate!" she shouted, a twisted smirk forming on her lips.

"You've ruined everything, my chance of becoming a powerful Luna beside Alpha Klaus. I hate you. I hate you!" she screamed again, her voice laced with fury.

I was stunned and confused at the same time. What was she talking about?

"What are you talking about?" I asked, wiping the tears from my face.

"Oh please. Don't pretend to be clueless or innocent, it doesn't suit you. Drop the act," Amira snapped.

"I honestly don't know what you're talking about," I said sincerely.

"I love Alpha Klaus. I have been planning our future together as Alpha and Luna. He came here for a marriage proposal, but you, and your curse ruined everything. You made sure it didn't happen. Now he thinks you're his mate." Amira yelled, her voice cracking.

"I didn't know..." I tried to explain, but she wasn't listening.

"He was supposed to be my second-chance mate, but no, you just had to get in the way of my happiness," she hissed.

"No, Amira. The truth is, I don't want him. I was begging him to reject me. I swear, I don't want him," I pleaded.

"Well, I do and I will have him," she said with venom in her voice as she pulled out a gold knife. The same one I had once been punished for stealing.

She grabbed me by the neck and raised the blade.

"Please don't. Please... spare me," I begged, trembling.

"I'll spare you this time. But the next time I come, it won't be like this. Reject Alpha Klaus at all costs," she warned before hiding the knife and storming out of the room.

"Bitch." My voice was weak as I gasped for breath, still shaken by the encounter.

Alpha Klaus said I would be leaving with him whenever he was ready but I didn't know when that would be.

**Knock**

I felt dread crawl up my spine, scared to open the door and find Amira there,or worse Alpha Klaus.

Regardless I walked to the door ,inhaling deeply,I opened the door.

It was Freya.

"Hurry up. Take a bath and put this on," she said, handing me a neatly folded outfit.

"What for?" I asked cautiously.

"Alpha Klaus wants to see you in..."

"See me? For what?" I cut her off, my eyes widening in fear and confusion.

"Stop asking silly questions. Get into the bathroom, bathe, put this dress on, and go to Alpha Klaus's chamber," Freya instructed before walking away.

"In his chamber?" I repeated to myself.

I shut the door, set the dress down, and headed into the bathroom. After my bath, I examined the outfit, it was a nightgown with a robe. The gown was sheer, almost see-through, and alarmingly short. It clung tightly to my body in all the right places.

I stared at myself in the better part of the mirror. The gown accentuated my curves, and the upper part exposed far too much cleavage. I looked... sexy. But for who? Alpha Klaus?

No, no... How can I go to his room dressed like this? Why did he even come to the Autumn Pack in the first place? But then Amira's words and threats echoed in my mind.

What if she saw me like this, going into Klaus's room? She wil kill me on the spot. She claimed Alpha Klaus had come to the pack to marry her but was that really true?

**Knock**

The knock startled me, pulling me out of my thoughts. I opened the door and saw Freya again.

"You..." she paused, noticing the dress on me.

"It looks good. But you were told to be in Alpha Klaus's room minutes ago. What's the delay?" Freya asked sharply.

"Are you ready?" she asked.

I hesitated, then slowly nodded.

"Then let's go," she said, pulling me along.

"No, wait," I said, freeing myself so I could throw on the robe before stepping out again.

"No, take the robe off for now," Freya insisted.

I obeyed, reluctantly removing it and standing there in just the dress. I tried to cover my exposed cleavage with my hands.

"It's fine," she said, gesturing for me to leave it alone.

"But the dress is really short"

She said nothing, simply signaled for me to follow.

I closed the door behind me and walked behind Freya. Oddly, she wasn't as harsh as she usually was. Maybe it was the news about me being Alpha Klaus's mate. Yes, that had to be it. Freya had never complimented me before, nor had she spoken without yelling.

Eventually, we arrived at the door of the room we'd cleaned earlier; Alpha Klaus's chamber.

As I stood there, waiting while Freya knocked, I spotted Amira walking by. Our eyes met. She glared at me with raw hatred, as though she could kill me with a single look, but I just stood there, frozen.

Freya gently nudged me forward. Alpha Klaus had opened the door for me.

I took one last glance at Amira, then stepped inside. Freya closed the door behind me.
