The features were similar, but the eyes... the eyes held a spark that seemed almost... otherworldly.
Khora's breath caught as she realized that she was seeing her sister, Aria the reincarnated protector who had been murdered all those years by the supreme alpha, Kai through the mirror.
The vision was fleeting, but the sense of connection lingered. Khora felt an overwhelming urge to reach out, to touch the glass, and to bridge the gap between them.
As the mirror's surface stilled, Khora's reflection returned, but her eyes now held a newfound sense of purpose. She knew that she had to find Aria, it was a relief to find out that her sister was not dead, she was just lost and she knew how to get to her.
............
"Ensure that she gets all the care that she needs, I am keeping her in your care, Rune, nothing is to happen to her." Kai said as he handed the now quiet and tame Akira to rune.
"
"Is she....dead?" Rune murmured
"No she isn't, she just passed out on my way here.". Kai answered...
"You didn't drive here?" Rune asked in shock.
Kai's silence gave the answer he needed, he got the message and his thoughts kept spiraling from one question to another.
"But you know that she's a human, you bringing her here to the pack house does nothing but put her in danger." Rune said.
Kai was livid, he hated to be reminded that the long awaited mate that prophecy foretold to be his mate was human.
"I don't want no excuses, ensure that she is safe and sound." Kai said, "stay with her and ensure that no harm comes to her" he warned and with a note of finality he added, "that's my mate."
Rune was in total disbelief, there was no way in hell that this human that he carried in his hands was mated to his alpha.
But everything pointed to the fact that he was human and his alpha caring for her must mean that they were mates.
Rune has lived a long time to understand that this was the impossible coming to life.
But he had been instructed by his alpha and he was going to obey to the letter, even if it cost him his life.
And this might cost his life.
In the blink of an eye he was already up the stairs that led to the guest's room and he had placed her in her bed.
Rune stood and watched over her as she slept soundly, she was beautiful, a woman worthy of his alpha.
But she was human.
Regardless he was going to do his alpha's will.
The sun went down and the moon began to peek through the clouds when his worst fears began to materialise.
The pack mates were returning and their first stops were at the guests house.
He knew they picked up the scent already and it was a matter of time before they stormed the room.
Akira was already rousing up from her sleep, "who are you?" She asked Rune drowsily.
Before he could provide her with an answer and her eyes Widened with realization.
"Let me go please...."she begged, "I promise I am not a threat, I did not do anything to warrant this." She begged.
Rune knew that he was not supposed to talk to her but her innocence broke him.
"Sssshhhh" he sushed her, "no one is going to harm you, you just have to be quiet."
"I just want to go home, haven't you monsters taken enough from me, first my family, and now me?" She yelled as she threw pillows to rune.
Rune knew he had to stop her, her yells were going to attract the already suspicious wolves and that was not going to look good for them.
"Just be quiet, you're only putting yourself in danger!" He warned.
Her fears would not let her be still, she kept crying, yelling in the hopes that someone, anyone out there would hear her cries and save her from her captors.
There was no way that those out there could be any worse than who she was with in there.
How wrong she was.
"We know that there is a human in there rune, we smell you and her putrid human scent!" Growled a wolf from behind the door.
Akira felt her blood run cold, "there's more of them?" She howled in fear.
"I warned you..." rune said, "now you're going to get us all killed."
"You know that humans are not allowed in here now don't you? Open this door now and ww might just go easy on you." Came the guttural warning from the wolves who were pressing against the door.
"Stay back, I am warning you all, you don't want to harm me and most importantly you don't want to harm our guest."
"We don't care..." cried another wolf, "she is a human and nothing else matters, give her to us now!"
"Go away," rune warned, "you do not want to get into trouble with the alpha, stay away."
"The alpha would be pleased with us, we know how much he hates those creatures, deceitful, dirty monsters, there's nothing wrong in what we are about to do!"
Akira had gone silent with fear, she knew that each passing second was nothing but avoiding the inevitable.
The door burst open. The vengeful wolves had found a way to get in and they were headed straight for her.
"Get back, I am warning you..." rune yelled as he pulled them back and tried his best to protect her.
Akira closed her eyes in fear and all she could think about was the very man who kidnapped her.
She had never felt so close to him as she did now, something inside her relaxed at his thought, something that made her feel at ease.
"Help..." she muttered, her thoughts filled with images of Kai.
"Help me..." she muttered again.
"Enough! What the fuck is going on here...." Kai thundered
