And that's because Shawna's more on the baddie side, and knowing my family very well, they would prefer a good, decent girl, one who doesn't smoke, has no piercings or tattoos, and does dress moderately. Too bad Shawna isn't that kind of person.
"C'mon, D, what's going on?" She asked again when she saw I wasn't saying anything but just staring at her blankly.
What's bothering you?"
I sighed deeply, rubbing the sides of my temples. God, what was I going to tell her? Now I can't possibly tell her the truth, right?
"Well... Um, it's nothing actually, you see...." I tried diverting the topic but paused when she suddenly gave me a suspicious look.
"Nothing you say, and you look this tense?" She raised a brow.
Oh God!
Did I forget to say this girl has a way of seeing through me?
"C'mon, D, please tell me what's going on. You know I hate it when you keep things from me," she said softly, wrapping her hands around my neck to give me one of those cute puppy looks of hers, one I couldn't resist.
Fine! What's the point in hiding it when she's still going to find out anyways?
"Well, my mom just called to say they've already found me a bride, and they want me back in America tomorrow for the introduction." I dropped the bombshell as lowly as I could, and immediately her hands, which had been wrapped around my neck, fell from me.
"W... what!" She exclaimed, her eyes dilating in shock.
"You're joking, right?" She rasped, taking a step back away from me. I shook my head slowly.
"It's the truth, Shawna."
"No!" Her eyes turned watery in that instant, and I saw the look of hurt, pain, and betrayal cloud her face.
"Please tell me it's not true, Bryan; at least tell me you're joking," she croaked, her eyes glistening with unshed tears.
"I'm sorry..." I muttered slowly, feeling my heart constricting painfully in my chest. I hated seeing her like this.
Of course I loved Shawna so much, and even though I knew my family would never approve of us, I still couldn't imagine life without her being beside me.
She was the second girl I have ever truly loved, and the feeling was mutual. In truth, we both love each other, even though our love was forbidden.
But then we're both willing to stay by each other's sides even though it means not getting married. We were willing to take the risk, and everything had been going on smoothly for us, well, until this sudden marriage thing.
I looked at Shawna again, but she turned away from me wordlessly.
She walked up to the window side and picked up a stick of cigarettes from the table beside it. She lit it and leaned by the window, staring out of it as she smoked.
I let out an exasperated sigh, pinching the bridge of my nose, feeling so peeved. Geez, this seems way harder than I thought.
"Hey, babe," I called softly as I approached her from behind. I tried touching her, but she swiftly shrugged me off.
"Don't touch me!" She snapped.
"Shawna, please..." I called pleadingly and tried cajoling her in the best way I could.
"Just because I'm getting married doesn't mean things would have to end between us. You know we could still-"
"Oh, really? Is that what you think?" She snapped and turned around to face me. I could only gape at her.
'-That if you get married, we'd still continue this illicit affair?" She scowled deeply.
I furrowed my brows in surprise.
"What are you talking about?"
"It doesn't work that way, Bryan. Once you get married, everything will change between us. because you'll have to stay committed to your wife, and that-I won't be able to stand, so why don't you just show me to your family instead? why don't you just tell them about us?" she said, and I frowned slightly.
"No, Shawna, you know I can't do that. You know I can't-"
"Good. I guess this is where it all ends." She intoned sharply, and I stopped talking. My brows creasing in confusion as I tried to figure out what she meant by that
"Wh...what do you mean by that?"
"That's it, Bryan. I can't continue being your f**k girl anymore, and if you still won't introduce me to your family, then I think it's best if we just put an end to this bullsh*t we call a relationship." She slammed coldly, her words cutting through the air like ice.
I froze. For the first few minutes nothing seems to make sense in my head, and the only thing I could hear was her words, 'Let's put an end to this bullsh*t we call a relationship.'
My breath hitched as the gravity of the words finally sank in.
"Y...you....you want to break up with me?" I asked, my voice quivering.
She puffed air out of her mouth, pushing a strand of hair behind her ear, she replied,
"Well, this wasn't meant to be in the first place. I mean, we weren't even compatible. Take a look at us, you-you call yourself my boyfriend, but you're a big-time flirt who still cheats on me, and I'm the slut who your parents would never accept, so why don't we put an end to everything!" She said
"B...but I love you, Shawna. I agree I'm a cheat, but you're the only woman my heart has ever raced for; none of the sluts I hooked up with ever made me feel the way you did," I said, trying to cajole her the best way I could.
Hell, my heart was breaking. There's no way I could let her leave. No, I can't. I love her too much for that.
"It doesn't change a thing, Bryan. You're getting married anyways, so what's the point of this?" she retorted stubbornly.
"Please..." I tried pleading with her for the very last time, but it seemed like her mind was already made up.
"I'm sorry, but we're done!" She slammed it seriously, and with that she grabbed her bag and stormed out of the room.
I stood there in the middle of the room watching her leave; my pride wouldn't let me go after her.
And not until she walked out through that door did the reality of everything dawn on me. Shawna was gone! Just like that I lost her-my one true girlfriend!
At that instant I lost it. With my head spinning madly, I raged. I knocked down the small table that was beside me. The helpless table fell to the floor, its contents falling off and spilling all over the floor, but still I wasn't satisfied.
Furiously I turned over to the wall behind me and began punching at it, punching and punching angrily till the point I got wounded, but I still didn't care as I continued punching.
Geez! I needed to destroy something.
Just then my phone began ringing from the pocket of my trousers, and I paused to retrieve it. It was one of my security men calling.
"Hello, boss, I just spotted Miss Shawna running out of the premises in tears. Is everything alri_?"
"Get me, b**ch!" I cut him off with a snap and heard him gasp.
"Huh?"
"Yeah, you heard me f**king right, get me a f**king b**ch! I need someone to fuck right now, and you know how I like my sluts: big b**bs and a$$ are very important. I need her here right now"! I ordered.
Shawna POV
I wiped off the fake tears as soon as I was out of the hotel premises.
I made sure I was very far from it before taking a sharp bend into a quiet alley.
I stood in the middle of it and darted my eyes around cautiously, making sure no one was in sight before I took off the fake dark hair I was wearing. Immediately I did that, my real hair-blonde in color-came into view, and I smiled.
I stared at the fake hair in my hand, my smile widening as I proceeded to take off the fake brown contact lens I was wearing, revealing my real eye color-blue. My smile broadened.
It was so good everything had to fall in place without me even trying.
I mean the breakup was supposed to happen even if Dylan wasn't getting married.
But still, thank God an opportunity like this had to come; at least it made everything easy, and now I've got a perfect excuse for it.
Just then, my phone started ringing, and I took it out from my bag only to see that it was 'HIM.'
I picked immediately.
"I'm sure you must have been done with it," his deep, husky voice rang through, and I shuddered lightly.
"Y...yes, of course, anything else?" I asked and heard him snarl deeply.
"Don't act like you don't know the plan. Alexis, I want you here in Sicily!" he ordered.
"O... okay, I'll be there soon, I replied, and he hung up.
I exhaled deeply.
