Andre tried all he could to get Sophia's attention, it seems Sophia was trying so hard to avoid him, days passed, and Andre settled into his new routine in Ikoyi-Ile. He spent his mornings exploring the village, reconnecting with old friends, and getting accustomed to the slower pace of life. However, his mind often wandered to Sophia, the house help's daughter. One afternoon, Andre decided to take a stroll around the compound. He found Sophia sitting under the shade of a mango tree, engrossed in a book. The sight of her, lost in thought, captivated him.
"Hey, Sophia," Andre said, trying to sound casual. "What are you reading?" Sophia looked up, slightly startled. "Just a novel, Andre. Nothing too interesting." Andre sat down beside her. "I'm curious, what's the book about?" Sophia smiled, her eyes sparkling. "It's 'Half of a Yellow Sun' by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie." Andre's eyes widened. "Wow, that's one of my favorite books! What do you think of it?" The conversation flowed effortlessly from there. Andre discovered Sophia's passion for literature, her love for music, and her dreams of becoming a teacher. As they talked, he found himself drawn to her intelligence, kindness, and beauty. As the sun began to set, Andre realized he'd spent hours talking to Sophia. He stood up, reluctant to end their conversation. "I should probably get going. But would you like to join me for a walk around the village tomorrow?" Sophia's smile hinted at a yes. "I'd love to." Andre's heart skipped a beat. He couldn't wait to spend more time with Sophia, to get to know her better, and to see where this new connection might lead.
He felt quite amazed and excited at the same time.
