Chapter 1 (Captured by the enemies)

Alessia

The music died on a gasp as the grand hall's window shattered, unleashing a horde of black-clad men. I stumbled back, my heart racing, and Roberto, my fiancee's grip on my hand faltered.

The Moonlit festival's magic turned to mayhem in an instant.

"VAMPIRES!" someone screamed, and the hall erupted into chaos.

As if on alert, more vampires poured in through the broken window, their eyes bloodshot and cold, glowing sharply across the hall. I paled, my heart racing as panic set in.

The once vibrant hall turned into a battleground.

"Attack!" My father, Alpha Riccardo Diavolo, roared, and the warriors shifted immediately into their wolves, their furious growls filling the air as they lunged at the vampires.

How were they able to enter our pack? This was a question I had no answer to right now.

Women screamed, running when clutching their children and pups tightly, while the once-beautiful decorations were trampled and torn apart. Blood splattered the floor, bodies flew through the air, and the snarls, screams, and the clash of fangs and claws filled the hall. I stood frozen, unsure what to do, as the Moonlit festival descended into a living nightmare in front of me.

"Ahh!!"

My sister's scream cut through my thoughts.

"Fuck. Malicia!" Roberto shoved me aside before I could have time to process what just happened.

He hurried toward Malicia, fighting and shielding her from the vampires lunging toward her. And I was left alone. His behavior hurt me, but I shrugged it off. Not wanting to think much of it,

Malicia is younger and needs more protection, right? I forcefully pulled my eyes from them, the way he was holding her and the overprotectiveness... I shook my head and focused more on helping the women with their pups.

More vampires were breaking in, and from how this thing is going, I was afraid that if nothing was done, they might overthrow us. They are fast, very fast, and their claws are fucking sharper.

"Come here." I quickly grabbed a little boy that was crying. My nervous gaze flickering around in fear,

"Where is your mom?" He pointed to the woman lying down on the ground beside him, fear glinting in his eyes. Tears tugged in my eyes at the blood oozing off her mother's leg. What the fuck should I do now?

I need to protect this boy. I mumbled, fear gripping me hard. A hand from nowhere grabbed my shoulder, the little boy screamed out in fear and turned to scramble away. My body trembled, but before the vampire could slide his claws through my neck, a sword sliced through his chest, and his blood splashed all over me.

I cringed at the sight. My head moved up to see one of our pack warriors, Sir Luca.

"Thanks." I bit back my tears.

"Get a spot and hide, kid." He said instead and turned, attacking more of the vampires. So I used the opportunity to stand up, searching for the little boy. My heart drumming so fast, it's risky for him here.

"Fucking get yourselves to the crypta!!" My father roared through the mind link, and everyone started rushing, running toward the door that would lead to the crypta-a big hall that was situated underground, just below this hall that we were in.

It would quarantine our safety.

He has fucking seen that we wouldn't win this. Unless a lot of people will die.

"Shit." I cried out as people pushed me aside, running for their lives. I should turn and also run, but my fragile heart would forever judge me if I leave that little boy here. Those monsters will kill him.

"Alessia. What the fuck are you still doing?" My best friend, Sophia, stopped running the moment her nervous gaze fell on me.

"Just go, Sophia!" I screamed, amidst the noisy hall. She looked around the dead bodies and the vampires still hunting down people and shot me a sharp, panicked glance. "There is no time; we need to leave!" she hurried to drag me, and I squatted her hands.

That's when my gaze flickered on Roberto. He was protectively shielding Malicia and rushing both of them to the door leading to the underground.

Didn't he remember me? My heart clutched hard at the sight.

I know Malicia deserves more protection since she's young, according to our father, but then again, I am his fiancée. At least he should also protect me, right? After all, Malicia and I have yet to find our wolves.

Sophia followed my gaze to see Roberto and Malicia-how tight she was clutching onto him. She sighed and looked at me, concern flung into her face, but she was quick to push it away, keeping a serious face. "We have to get to the crypta now."

"Wait." I turned and under the broken table was the boy sitting and shivering in fear. I quickly bent over and extended my hand to him, despite how my body was shaking. "Come on." I mumbled with a smile.

He shook his head, tears striking down his face as he hugged his legs.

"Ahh!!" Sophia screamed and jumped off from the dead body that fell on her side. Her hand came to grab my clothes. "Come on, we have to leave!!"

My heart was beating faster. I couldn't fucking enter the broken table, and if this boy kept delaying, we all might die here. "Please."

"M...mom," he stuttered in tears, and my mind drifted back to his injured mother. I quickly stood up.

"Here." I pointed at the woman breathing heavily when lying helplessly on the ground. "That's his mother; please get her to safety." Sophia gave me a look as if I was crazy but hurried to the woman anyway.

Seeing that his mother was being helped, the little boy crawled out. I didn't waste time and grabbed his hand, running to the door. I saw my father hurry through the door with my mother. Almost everyone had hurried in there.

Sophia transformed into her wolf immediately and flung the woman on her back. She is the daughter of the gamma, so her wolf is massive. While my running wasn't that fast since I was yet to find my wolf. I am not eighteen yet.

The more I ran, the more I could feel the presence of the vampires closing in on me. My heart was throbbing so hard. We were close to the door; Sophia rushed inside and dropped the woman, so I pushed the boy, causing him to fall down and roll forward.

The guard there grabbed him inside, but the next thing, I felt someone jump on me. I screamed and fell to the ground. I was close; at least someone could save me, but nobody made an attempt.

Sophia was about to rush in but was held back by Luna Lupa, my mother. Immediately, terror flashed in my eyes as I saw one of the guards pressed the button on the wall. The door started closing up.

"Dad. Help!!!" I shouted, veins splitting out on my neck and forehead. My scared eyes flickered to Malicia, and I saw in confusion as a smirk slid into her lips. I didn't have the time to read the meaning into it.

My pleading gaze moved to Roberto, but he was motionless. His face was stony even as our gazes locked.

Why are they not doing anything?

"Alessia!!!" I heard Sophia scream; she has transformed into her human form. Left in between life and death, I managed to push the vampire away, but before I could jump in, the door was smashed closed immediately.

And my world flashed in my eyes. I went completely numb.

"You asshole!!" The vampire grabbed me again and spun me around, baring my neck to his sight. I shouted, my body trembling as I shut my eyes, accepting my fate.

"Stop!" A loud growl resonated the whole room, stopping him from sinking his fangs into my neck and biting my head off. The vampire reluctantly groaned in frustration, retracting his fangs in.

My eyes nervously fluttered open to find a man, so handsome with messy brown hair, stepping toward me.

Typical vampire gene.

He stopped in front of me, and his cold gaze bored into mine, flinching.

His gaze trailed all over me, inspecting me before his side lips twitched up in a frightening smirk.

"Keep her," he announced, confusing others. I could hear disappointed groans. And my heart skipped in fear.

He glanced at their faces, and they went quiet immediately. "Alpha Riccardo Diavolo might have escaped, but we have..." he stopped and his smile twisted into a deadly smirk. "We have something so dear to him. His daughter."
