Chapter 4

Brenda was humiliated. Sarah knew this was just the beginning. Brenda would escalate.

Sarah had learned from her past "diplomatic missions." Before moving in with Michael, she' d discreetly placed tiny, motion-activated webcams in their new home. They were disguised as air fresheners. "For peace of mind," she'd told Michael, who hadn't questioned it.

A few days after the BBQ, Sarah' s phone buzzed with an alert. Motion detected in the master bedroom. Michael was at work. Sarah was at her office.

She checked the live feed. It was Brenda.

Brenda was snooping around their master bedroom. She moved towards the large TV console, fiddled with something near it, then quickly left the room.

That evening, Sarah did a careful sweep. Tucked behind a photo frame, pointed directly at their bed, was a small nanny cam. It wasn't one of hers.

Brenda was playing dirty. Very dirty.

Sarah wasn't surprised. This was the kind of tactic Brenda would use. Emily, Michael' s second ex-wife, had been accused of infidelity after Brenda supposedly found "evidence." Sarah now suspected doctored photos or staged encounters.

Sarah felt a cold resolve. Brenda wanted to play games with cameras? Fine. Sarah knew that game too.

She remembered Michael mentioning that Brenda and David sometimes slept in separate rooms. David had a guest room he used when his "snoring" was bad. Brenda often complained about it. Sarah had seen the guest room. It had a similar layout to their master bedroom, with a TV console.
