VICTORIA'S POV
I raced into the school environment and I saw my son. He stood there with Brianna.
I rushed towards Ace and picked him up, I kissed his forehead and held him tightly close to me.
"Mummy," He said in his little voice.
"I am so sorry, baby," I spoke into his ears, as I kissed his cheeks repeatedly.
"Victoria what happened? The school said they had tried to reach you but your phone didn't connect," Brianna asked me in a soft and concerned tone.
"Bri, I was stuck in the elevator of one of the hotels I worked in today. The technical team took so long before they came to fix the issue," I said to her.
"Oh my God, bestie. Are you okay? Are you hurt," she said as she hovered around me, checking that there was no scratch on my body.
"Haha," I laughed.
"There is nothing wrong with me. I am fine," I said and kissed Ace's forehead again.
"Ace was seen in the laboratory, mixing up some chemicals," Brianna dropped the shell.
"What?" I exclaimed and stared at Ace.
"Mommy, I just wanted to see what those liquids did," my son said, fixing his innocent gaze on me.
"Baby but mommy told you not to go around touching things," I spoke softly to him.
"Sorry mommy. Aunty Bri, I am sorry."
Ace was just so lovely. You just cannot help but keep loving him.
"Bri, what did the teachers say? Did he destroy anything?" I asked.
"He didn't, I am so thankful he didn't destroy anything. Even though I would have paid for all damages if I had damaged anything." Brianna said as she tapped Ace's back.
SAMSON'S POV
I and Victoria had become very good friends and suddenly, I just couldn't get that lady off my mind.
"Seriously, what is wrong with me," I said out aloud, hitting my head with my palms furiously.
I however needed to unlock my inheritance. My grandfather's will gave me grace till the age of thirty. Now if I didn't get married in six months, the inheritance would be gone forever.
Apparently, it would all be given to another family. Now, Victoria was all I could think about.
I picked up my phone and dialled her number. As I waited for her to pick up, I reminisced over the past few days we had spent together since the elevator incident.
I enjoyed her company alot and never wanted to stop being around her.
"Hello there," Her soft voice came on the line.
"Victoria, are you free? Could I meet and talk in person please?" I asked my new crush.
"Okay then, text me the time and place and I'll see you in an hour," she said.
She had never wanted me to visit her home and I respected her decision.
"Okay," I replied and she dropped the call from her end.
***************
"Victoria, there is something I would like to talk to you about." I said over the lunch we were having at Benny Food and Pastry.
"Okay, go on," She said with a mouthful of food.
"I would like to sign a contract with you," I said firmly.
"Okay, what is the contract about?" She asked me absentmindedly.
"A contract marriage, Victoria,"
"What?" She instantly froze, then she returned back to the plate the spoonful of food that was about making its way into her mouth.
"I don't understand what you are trying to say Samson," she said, shooting me with a very stern look.
"Victoria, don't worry. I promise you that your interest is going to be protected. Your mom will be well taken care of and be nursed back to good health,"
"I need your help as a friend. My inheritance from my grandfather is locked away in his will. I just have from now till six months to get married, otherwise the inheritance will be gone forever."
"Hmm," She mumbled.
I prayed silently for her to answer me and give me a positive answer too.
"Victoria, I would pay you six hundred million dollars and give you one of my estates," I said.
Her eyes widened in surprise but I meant everything I said.
"Victoria, if you don't believe me, I want to assure you that all these I have said will be put down in writing and I will write my signature bold on it," I said, trying my best to convince her.
I wanted nobody else but her.
She finally spoke out, "I will have to think about this Samson,"
"Victoria, it would only last for three years and I promise to make those three years the best years for you."
"Samson, you of all people should know that I now find it hard to believe men like you. All men have ever done was just to mess up my life."
"If we are doing this, Samson, there would be no strings attached. I don't have any more love to give any man," She said, her voice threatening to break down in tears.
My heart broke at the mention of the last line. From then onwards, I vowed to make sure I would give her all the love I had even if she didn't reciprocate it.
"I understand you, Victoria. Take all the time you can to think about this, I will be awaiting your response. I will always be just one call away." I said in a tone that was as soft and natural as possible.
"Okay," She said, nodding.
I longed to hear her say my name but she didn't. I just hoped that I didn't put her in an uncomfortable place with my request.
The waiter came along and I paid for our meal.
"Are you ready to go now," I asked, as I went beside her and placed my hand on her shoulders.
"No, just go on. I'll leave later," She said, waving her hand dismissively.
She seemed to have a distant look as she stared at the blue sea scenery outside of the window.
I walked away slowly. Before I got to the restaurant door, I looked back to see her having only one question in my mind,
"What could she be thinking of me and my request now?"
