Daniel's POV
"Son you have to do something. Call her! Call her!" Mom yells into my ears as my hands try to dial in her number.
I called for the fifth time and it still wasn't going. Emily was not picking any of my calls.
I had been calling her since yesterday but she was being so stubborn.
"I don't understand why she is overreacting." Mom said roaming around the house in circles, "Cheating is a minor thing. All men cheat. All men are bound to cheat so why is she acting up? Your father cheated on me, I never said anything. I never left our marriage. Just imagine I left this marriage with every single one of you those years ago. He would pick another wife ASAP while we rely on something as insignificant as child support. Give me that phone!" she commanded and I handed it over to her.
Mom had always been this way. Stubborn, persistent, and always caring about our family's reputation.
"I will never allow anyone to drag our family's reputation to the mud. The Clay family is a united front and there is no such thing as a divorce. It doesn't exist."
A door came slightly on the door. Our maid, Nora went to check it out. Shortly after, she returned with an envelope.
"What is that?" my mom said while snatching the envelope. She ripped it open and her eyes popped at the realisation of its content.
"What is that?" I moved closer looking really curious.
She passed the letter to me and put her hands on her hips looking worried.
"She wants a divorce." She broke the news without even allowing me to read the contents of the letter.
"Mom, come on I can't lose my wife."
"You should have thought of that before cheating," she yelled at me. "Since she is so bent on getting a divorce there is no need convincing her but she is not getting a dime from this family. And we have to paint her as the bad guy in this story. We can't throw our company's name in the mud."
"Your wish is my command." I responded to her as she was fuming in anger.
She was my mother and I loved her more than I loved my wife so her wish would always be my command. Besides, love is subjective and feelings can always be lost.
Why I cheated? Maybe I was looking for something else, maybe I was tired of her, just maybe and Daniella presented herself to me at the accurate time and it just happened to be the time that Emily caught me.
With the use of our connection we were able to influence the media to push a false story all over the Internet.
"Emily Clay, wife of Clay Corporation's CEO, Daniel Clay caught cheating on him."
"Daniel Clay files divorce on his wife Emily Clay."
The media was buzzing. The masses were buzzing. Comments were littered everywhere and everyone seemed to be on our side. What a time to be a winner. You see in this game when you got no cash you don't win. People like me will always be on top, I am not part of the chess, I am the one manipulating the chess.
For the first time in what seemed like a long time Emily called. She was crying all over and blocking my ears.
At first when she caught me cheating I felt a sense of remorse and wanting to make up but now that the tables were turned round I didn't feel shit. I so much enjoy being in a predatory position, although now the media perceived me as the prey, the victim. I scoff in laughter.
"Daniel you bastard how dare you? First you cheat on me and now you ruin my reputation. I hate you." She said pouring her tears through the phone.
"Shhh honey! I would never hurt you. We could make things easier. Come back to me and your reputation will be as clean as snow."
"Never! I will never tolerate a cheating husband." She said and ended the call on me.
Still cocky. I smirked as I turned on the television. The report on the news gave me so much joy.
Seeing myself on the screen being interviewed by the press gave me even more joy. There is no limits to money.
I had successfully put all my properties under my mother's name so there was no way that bitch was going to have a bite on that alimony and yes! I will be getting married to Daniella, apparently she is pregnant for my child. Something that Emily could not give me in three years, Daniella was able to achieve that in just one passionate night.
I was a lucky man and it was my luckiest day ever. I could imagine Emily at this point screaming and yelling. Maybe she even faked her barrenness to push me to cheat so she could pull the divorce card and take all my properties
You never know with these women. They all be thieving.
I looked at the divorce paper sitting pretty at my mini side table with a pen on top of it. I went closer to it and sat at the sofa close to it. Then I picked up the pen and after consuming the contents from the paper I signed it with all pleasure.
Aurevoir Emily! Bienvenu Daniella!
"Boss! Boss!" Nora came hopping in.
"Someone is at the door."
"Who is that?" I replied.
"It's Lady Emily." She responded.
My mind tingled. Speak of the devil, I never thought she would show her face here.
"Let her in." I responded.
Nora ran off to open the door while I moved majestically to the front door to meet with my nemesis.
"Daniel." She ran to me with tears in her eyes and started beating my chest.
She was beating it really hard while I stood as firm as ever, looking unfazed. Her hands were just like pillows. Soft. Cushy. Comfortable. I liked it. I loved it!!!
"Daniel how could you? You ruined my name. Now no one. No one believes me. My mom doesn't even believe me. I hate you. I hate you."
"Are you done?" I said with a cold look on my face.
She stopped crying for a bit and just looked into my eyes.
"Guards," I called out, "take this cheating woman out of here."
"You know I didn't cheat. You know I didn't cheat. You know I didn't cheat. You know I didn't cheat." She kept on ranting while my guards came and dragged her ass out of my house. Her tears were messing up with my expensive tiles.
"Nora, please when she's gone mop the tiles. I hate the tears of unfaithful people." I said before putting my hands in my pocket and walking back into my home office.
