Chapter 5 A Taste of His Own Medicine.

Outside the hospital ward, people walked up and down the hallway.

Ethan stood outside Ava's room, his arms crossed and his fingers tapping, a habit that showed he was agitated.

He couldn't understand why he was so unsettled, besides he was sure, she had fallen into the pool on purpose.

But seeing your wife, unconscious, soaked and in another man's arms will do something to any man.

In Ethan's case, he was enraged.

He had watched as his wife, pale and limp had been carried bridal style by another man.

He turned away from staring at the door and frowned, his lips pressed together into a straight line, grinding his teeth as he stated at the man who had brought his wife to the hospital.

Dean Winters.

Adonis Dean as his peers called him for his angelic features.

He was the son of the CEO of Cardwell group, A multinational conglomerate and one of the greatest tech specialist in Montreal City, And someone he had always been compared to.

Ethan hated been compared to anyone, especially to someone almost a decade younger than him.

The McQueen group was a conglomerate too with Subsidiaries and affiliates but compared to Cardwell they were but small fish in the corporate sea.

The exhibition at Crest garden was open to business icons and reputable people of the business world and the Cardwell's were an elephant among them.

Dean Winters, Winters a last name testament to the adopted status of the Cardwell CEO...

Dean was sitting cross legged, working on his tablet while looking up at intervals to stare at Ava's hospital room.

Ethan watched him,his suspicion rising...

'Why the hell is he still here?' he thought.

He had thanked him earlier for helping Ava but dean had pointedly looked at Ethan's arm around Victoria, who was shivering in his large coat before saying.

"There's no need to thank me, I did what I should for the miss" Before sitting down in that spot and not moving.

Ethan did not like the way Dean was standing guard over guys wife's room and what did he mean by "Miss"?

Ava was married to him.

At least for now.

He started walking towards Dean, to politely ask him to leave as he couldn't afford to offend anyone at Cardwell's when the door to Ava's room opened and Ava walked out assisted by a nurse.

"Ava" he said walking towards her quickly, his hands stretched out "are you okay?"

Ava gave him a withering look and he withdrew his hands stiffly.

"Are you curious? Don't be, acting concerned for me all of a sudden is making me want to throw up"Ava spat at him coldly and stepped away.

Ethan was frozen in place by her cold words and also her lack of reception to his gesture.

His heartbeat slowed and picked up again in fear,'what's going on? Why am I so nervous about how she treats me?'

"If you are fine, Let's go home now" He said glancing at the nurse that had accompanied her, when the latter nodded in approval, he turned to face Ava but was stunned by the look on her face.

She was smiling softly with her eyes, her voice quiet as she conversed with Dean, his blood boiled when he saw Dean reach out and push a lock of her hair off her face.

Without thinking, he strode towards them and grabbed her arm pulling her to himself.

"Let's go home now Ava" he said through gritted teeth as Ava tried to free herself from his grip.

"Let go of me, you bastard" she struggled in pain and suddenly she was free.

Dean had reached out and grabbed Ethan's hand on her arm.

"Ah! You bastard" Ethan cried out as pain shot through his wrist.

How could such a puny man have so much strength?!

"Let go this instant!" He raged.

"Haha, when the lady had said let go, I thought you didn't understand her,it seems you perfectly understand that phrase now"

Dean said, smiling brightly as he tightened his grip on Ethan's wrist.

"This is none of your business! Let go now!" Ethan was red in anger now.

"Let him go Mr Winters" Ava said, touching dean's arms, Dean immediately let go of Ethan's wrist.

Ethan glared at him and seeing Ava's arm still resting on Dean's arm and the slight blush on his face,he saw red and exploded.

"Step away from my wife Winters!"

"Oh? You remember now she's your wife,it was confusing seeing you all cuddled up with her" Dean replied smiling, looking in the direction of Victoria who was staring back at him with rage in her eyes.

'Disgusting, if that person had not asked me to be her, what would have happened to the Miss back then?'

Dean smirked at her before turning to Ava and saying softly "Allow me escort you miss"

Ethan watched baffled as Ava took Dean's outstretched hand, threw a hard glare at him and allowed herself to be led out the hospital.

He swore loudly and groaned as he cradled his still aching wrist as he watched with reddened eyes as Dean led his wife away from him, the scene leaving a bitter taste in his mouth.

"That gigolo like bastard!!"
