Freya opened the door, allowing the men outside to enter. All of them were armed, unaware of what they would find inside. Freya stood by the door, next to the man.
" What do you think you're doing, Alan?" The man said." Put your weapons down. There's just a woman here. No enemy."
The man reprimanded his men, causing them to lower their weapons. Freya held one arm around her own body and with the other, she held onto the collar of her robe, unable to deny that she was scared. Unlike the hospital, in her house, she was alone and no one would see if they killed her there.
" I apologize, my men need better manners and training," he apologized, trying to reassure Freya.
Freya nodded, accepting his apology.
" I saw blood bags thrown over there. Did you do a transfusion on me?" The man asked, intrigued.
" You had lost a lot of blood and needed it. I had my blood stored in case of an emergency, so I had to use it, " Freya replied, worried that the man would feel offended by having her blood used on him.
The man approached Freya, raising an eyebrow. " So now, I have your blood running through my veins, doctor? Can we say we have made a blood pact?" He finished speaking and winked.
Freya swallowed hard and looked away from the man. They moved away from the door and headed towards the couch. The man asked for his gun and Freya pointed to the table in the corner. Alan grabbed the gun and put it away. The man put on his shoes and looked at Freya one more time.
" As for the medical expenses, I would like you to give me your account details to deposit the amount," the man said , patting his pants in search of his phone.
" You don't owe me anything I didn't do this for some fees. I'm a doctor and I swore to save lives , regardless of who it was and I have done just that. Also if you're looking for your phone, it's charging right over there," Freya replied firmly, staring at the man. She didn't want anything to do with them, so she clearly doesn't want to receive any payments from them.
" Well then, how can I thank you, Doctor... We haven't properly introduced ourselves. I'm Hendrik, Hendrik Falken," Hendrik said extending his hand to Freya.
Freya couldn't help but shake Hendrik's hand. She introduced herself, "I'm Freya. The last name doesn't matter."
At that moment, she was worried. In a single night, she met two Mafia's from the most dangerous families in the city and to make matters worse, it wasn't news that they're sworn enemies. If it wasn't bad luck, she didn't know what it was.
Hendrik asked Alan for a card and handed it to Freya.
" This is my card, Freya. Call me if you need anything. You saved my life, so from today henceforth, I owe you one".
Freya took the card, looking at the number. She had no intention of calling, but it was better not to say that. She just wanted Hendrik to leave as soon as possible.
Hendrik told his men to leave and wait in the car. They all left immediately and Hendrik approached Freya. He looked into Freya's eyes and spoke satisfactorily.
" Thank you. I want you to know that whatever I just said, I truly meant it. I owe you one. Don't hesitate to call me if you need anything. If anyone threatens you, whatever the reason, I will be there in the blink of an eye."
Hendrik took Freya's hand and kissed it. He smirked and turned to leave the house. Freya felt her heart race as Hendrik said those words, looking into her eyes and kissing her hand like that.
No one had ever said something like that before, that they would come immediately if she needed them. Freya shook her head, regaining her senses. She couldn't let herself be carried away by needs, even though the man was damn attractive, seductive, and very powerful. That was just out of gratitude.
Freya ran to the door, closing it and looking through the peephole to make sure they had already left. They were just getting into the car. Freya pressed the button, closing the gate before they could change their minds and come back.
She was exhausted, barely realizing that she had fallen asleep like that next to Hendrik. Freya headed towards the bedroom to sleep. She closed the curtains and flopped onto the bed, just wanting to sleep and forget the worst night of her life.
Hendrik got Into the car followed by Alan. He hadn't even closed the door properly, and Hendrik was already giving orders.
" Get in touch with Konrad . I want all the information about Freya, from her identity number to how many times she drinks water. Don't let anything slip, I want it as soon as possible," he ordered, and Alan looked slightly intrigued but signaled that he would do it.
" I want someone watching her. If the Krieger's find out that I was saved by her. They could hurt her. If you see someone lurking around her, whether at her house or work, let me know."
Hendrik gritted his teeth, a look of hatred crossing his face as he remembered Tobias and how he was betrayed by Rico.
" Find that imbecile Rico and bring him to me alive. His betrayal won't go unpunished."
Alan and another man exchanged glances. They knew Hendrik valued loyalty, hated betrayals and deceit, and they could only imagine that he was furious. They didn't know what he might do when he encountered Rico again.
Hendrik had met Rico at one of his nightclubs. Rico seemed to be the naive and inexperienced type. Slowly, he gained Hendrik's trust, until he reached his bed.
Hendrik took care of and protected Rico, as he reported that he only had one boyfriend in his life and it was an abusive relationship. However, after 2 years, he was stabbed by Rico, who had set up an ambush with Tobias to kill him.
He found out later that day that Rico was having an affair with Tobias, and that it had been a move to deceive Hendrik. Rico was shot during the exchange of gunfire, and he didn't know if he was alive or not, but if he was, it wouldn't be for much longer. Hendrik was definitely going to kill him.
Tobias was anxious to know about Hendrik's whereabouts.
" Find that 'Drecskerl', search which hospital he is in or which alley he died. Just find him, damnit! If he's alive, he must be weak, as he must have lost a lot of blood. It'll be easier to finish the job. Don't leave Rico alone at the clinic. Even though it's ours, we can't afford any risks."
Tobias wanted to prove to his father that he could handle the family business. This task had to be finished quickly and successfully. He touched his shoulder where he had been hit by a bullet.
He remembered Hendrik and the hatred between them, but at the same time, he remembered Freya while undergoing treatment. Tobias smirked and called his 'Unterboss'
" Find out more about that doctor, the days she works, where she lives. I want a complete report. Those 'Schöne Augen' are stuck in my head."
Freya woke up well past noon and still felt tired. Maybe all that change in her routine had stressed her too much. She took a shower and decided to eat out, she needed to breathe some fresh air and get away from there for a while. Every time she passed the living room, she could see Hendrik lying on the couch. She wanted to forget about the whole hospital experience as well as her own house.
Freya looked through the intercom's screen and the external cameras to make sure no one was waiting there. She locked the doors, got into the car, and opened the gate ,still with a racing heart. She headed towards the avenue and didn't notice a motorcycle parked near her house. As soon as Freya left, the motorcycle started following her from a distance.
" Sir, the doctor has left the house, " the man on the motorcycle said.
"Alright, follow her from a distance and don't let her notice she's being followed. Don't get close or interfere, unless necessary. If Krieger's men show up, let me know immediately."
Hendrik ended the call and focused his attention again on the doctor in front of him. He was in a private clinic that they used when they got injured. He has to recover as quickly as possible from that wound. The doctor said that, even though it was improvised, the work was well done, and he recovered fast, but he couldn't exert himself too much.
Unaware that she was being followed, Freya headed to the restaurant she used to go. After sitting down, she saw a couple at the front table and immediately regretted going to that place. That was where she asked Wilhelm to be her boyfriend and where they always went to eat or celebrate something. She needed to find another place that didn't bring back memories of her ex.
Outside, the man who was following her reported to Hendrik where Freya was. That was one of the Falken's family restaurants. Hendrik smiled and told him to keep following. Hendrik called the restaurant and instructed them not to charge Freya for the meal, gave her full description, and asked them to come up with some promotional stuff or whatever.
Freya enjoyed the meal while looking at the view. She still found herself thinking about the events of the night, the fear she felt at the hospital, the way Hendrik held her robe so his men wouldn't see her exposed skin.
As she thought about the event of the previous night, her lips unconsciously curled up. Realizing she was smiling, she cleared her throat and looked around. There was no reason to smile at that gesture from Hendrik, after all, she wouldn't see that man again.
Freya asked for the bill, and the waiter informed her that it had already been paid for.
As a regular customer, she was taking advantage of a promotion.
Freya didn't find it strange and thanked them before leaving the restaurant. She was close to the mall and decided to stop by there. She looked at some shop window, bought a few things, and then decided to head back home.
Arriving at the parking lot, Freya went towards her car. She saw a sports car approaching and parking near her.
Freya felt apprehensive for a moment and saw a man getting out of the car. He was dressed elegantly, with the blazer thrown over his shoulder, sunglasses, and a cigarette in his hands.
Tobias approached Freya with a smile, and Freya took some steps back.
"If it isn't my dearest Dr. Freya. So, doctor, how have you been?" Freya looked around at the other men before responding. She tried to maintain the same calmness she had at the hospital.
" As you can see, I'm fine. Looks like you're recovering quite well."
" I have you to thank for that, doctor. Since we're here, could you join me for a coffee?"
Freya thought carefully before replying, "I'm sorry, but let's do that some other time. I have some things to take care of before returning to my shift."
Freya bid farewell and made her way to the car. Tobias's companion, who had been aggressive at the hospital, stepped forward but was stopped by Tobias, who gave him a stern look.
"Feisty, huh? But mark my words, doctor, I'll make you mine." Tobias smiled and got into the car, driving off to park elsewhere.
Freya got into the car and ran her hand over her face, trying to calm herself. She pondered if it would always be like this, having to meet with gangsters all the time. That feeling of no longer being in control was eating her up inside.
In another part of the city, Hendrik had already received the news of Freya's meeting with Tobias, which intrigued and worried him. Had Tobias found out that she had helped him, or did they already know each other? Hendrik called Konrad again.
" Find out how Tobias knows the doctor you're investigating. I want that information by today." That information bothered him in such a way that he didn't even understand why.
