Amelia stood in front of the mirror, tears almost rolling from her eyes as the wedding attendants prepared and dressed her for the wedding. She was very sure they were all happy. She was not going to get happiness because of what she caused the pack, but then, she wondered why everyone thought it was her fault and blamed her. No one failed to blame her, if it was directly or indirectly, they did.
"I do not know why she is getting married to that hideous old man. Do you know he will be our next Alpha?" Amelia's ears caught some maids discussing just right under her room outside. "They are not doing her any good at all." One of the maids said.
"I am pretty sure no one wanted her, that is why she had no choice but to get married to the old man." The two maids laughed and Amelia did not want to show the anger she was feeling because it was only going to make things worse. She looked into the mirror and could not recognize herself with all the make-up and the huge wedding dress.
She barely accepted this marriage for up to three days now, and she is already being pushed into the marriage ceremony with a man who could fall and die any moment if no one was careful.
Meanwhile, a sigh escaped her lips as she gasped when the maid standing behind her tightened the straps connecting her dress. "Oh my goodness, do you want to end my life by suffocating me?" Amelia looked back at her with irritation.
"I am sorry, your majesty." The maid bowed and Amelia could tell that she was not even sincere about it.
"Please, leave if you are not pleased with dressing me up. I can do it myself." She said with her calm and soothing voice. She knew her voice was calm and no matter how hard she tried to make it otherwise, she failed miserably and ended up with a sore throat.
"Please forgive my ignorance, your majesty. It will not happen again." The maid apologized and Amelia just looked away, not even minding her. From where she stood, she could see the priests arriving and some impromptu guests, because everyone would want to see her pack unite with another to cause one problem or the other.
"You are set, your majesty." The other maid said as she handed Amelia the bouquet of white roses, which were her favorite but was not using them for her favorite event or destined mate right now.
Amelia could hear the wedding ceremony beginning downstairs and people applauding as the two maids covered her head with the large veil. She wondered if they had all planned this wedding before she accepted to marry Zoran, because there was definitely no way this dress would be ready in two days.
She let out a deep breath before stepping out of her room, with both of them helping with the adjustment of her dress. She did not have any friends to be her bridesmaid, even if it was a partially forced marriage. It is probably the only one she will ever have in her entire life.
"I would like to thank and appreciate all of you for taking your time to be here. Today we will be witnessing the marriage of Alpha Zoran and the daughter of the late Alpha of Crimson pack, Amelia." The priest announced and just then the old man walked down the aisle with a prideful look on his face.
Amelia could see how lavishly the throne hall was decorated, and it was not the dream wedding any lady would ask for, which was just in a partially large room, but then she was left with no choice. "Let's welcome the bride, Lady Amelia."
Everyone clapped like they were being forced to clap as Amelia stepped down the large stairs. Beta Jasper walked over to her and took her arm in his as he would be walking her down the aisle since her father was not there. Tears rolled down her eyes at the thought of her father not being there during her wedding to walk her down the aisle like she had always dreamed of, even if it was not with her destined mate or her dream man at least. She thought everything would have been better if her father had been there, and he agreed to this, which she knew that he would never have agreed to.
She walked up to the old man who was standing there with a smug smile. He looked very much older than Amelia's father and looked just the same age as her late grandfather, which irritated Amelia, but of course she just had to pretend and not show it.
"Today, we are here to witness the uniting of this soon-to-be couple and the two packs. Alpha Zoran, do you agree to protect the lady and her people?"
"I do." Alpha Zoran said.
"Lady Amelia, do you agree".
"She does not." A cold and chilly voice came from the door, followed by the thud of a dead body. Amelia could feel the aura of the individual fill the room and, at the same time, an intoxicating scent started to reach her from a distance.
The whole hall turned into chaos as people started to run away to hide from the individual. Amelia did not know him, but she still did not know why she felt a strange connection that seemed to be pulling her towards him. The connection became stronger as he walked closer to her.
Alpha Zoran grabbed Amelia by the hand and yelled at his men to attack Alpha Damien as he attempted to drag her away, but she refused to go with him. She was rooted on the spot, looking at this young man in front of her with so much interest, curiosity and admiration all together.
"Who do you think you are, trying to take the pack from me?" He said with a cold voice that brought Amelia out of the trance she fell in. In a minute, he grabbed Alpha Zoran's throat and that caught Amelia's attention as she stepped back, still looking at him. "Rot in hell, old man."
As he dropped Alpha Zoran's body on the floor, he stared at her like he was seeing right through her body. That intoxicating scent grew stronger and Amelia could feel her wolf's excitement bubbling up.
"You are my mate." Amelia blurted out instantly with excitement. "My mate."
"I reject you." His cold voice boomed irritatingly and everything in Amelia ran cold instantly.
